omar samhan
yeah he dominated richmond and i could see him maybe going second round. But he is very slow and patient in the low post which is great against small opponents. But against nba bigs, he's not gonna back guys down and get them out of position and pick them apart like that. His lack of speed and explosiveness will catch up to him. I don't think he has an nba career, but maybe he could be a todd mcCulloch type.
Parahouski is just as slow and un athletic, but he was ranked as high as 36 on nbadraft.net, personally I would take Samhan over Parahouski, although he doesn't have the jumper he is bigger, stronger, has more footspeed and is an energy player.
My Biggest problem with Samhan is he is very large, and not a good large. I am afraid weight loss could be a problem for him, and he may gain more weight. So, with that being said I think he has a good game, but being slow and poor conditioning won't help him.
If he measures a legit 6'10 or 11 in shoes, with a decent wingspan, he stands a chance. He is better than Suton. He isn't a great athlete, but I think he is unusually talented basketball wise. Good moves, ball skills, and instincts. He will be a baller in Europe, but his back to the basket game won't translate to todays game. He wouldn't be able to handle a Bynum or Howard or Nene from a physicall standpoint.
Samhan is a great college player...i repeat college player. He is so slow though for the nba. Im not talking about just his mobility on the court, but also his post moves are built on strength just over powering the opponent. In college it works but in the nba he is gonna get man handled IMO. He's also just more experienced than most college players.
But guys, What makes Parahouski any better??? and yes I have seen both of them play, but I don't know what makes Art P an early 2nd rounder and Omar an undrafted free agent.
One thing I will say about Samhan is that it's ridiculous that he wasn't so much as a fifth team all-american this year. All-american teams are a joke that only seem to give credit to major conferences and this year ignored pretty much every big man in the country. Most first teams I looked at this year had 5 guards and not a single center was on the first five teams...pretty weak.
Samhan has literally carried his team to this points. He has an array of post moves and he is really smart decision maker with the ball. For a guy his size he sure does have alot of stamina its pretty impressive...there are guys smaller and more athletic than him who cant play as much minutes and no where as active as he is....I can see him playing in Europe for a couple of years continue to work on his overall game and body and see if he can make that move to the NBA.

time to put him in some mocks...
20pts and 11 boards 3 blks averages and is nowhere to be found.... 6'11 260lbs
