Things I've Learned About This NCAA Season and Conference Tournaments
A list of things I've noticed watching a BUNCH of college ball this year...Feel free to comment on mine or give some of your own!:
--Kansas State is a great team and they are for real. As I fan and basketball watcher...I had doubts after a few early losses and shaky performances. I'm sold on my boys making a Final 4 run.
--Da'Sean Butler is the most clutch I've seen this season in college. He's also an underrated NBA prospect.
--LaceDarius Dunn is the most crafty scorer in the college. He's got an ugly looking jump shot, but boy is it effective.
--John Wall is going to be a top 10 NBA player and he's going to have a D.Wade type impact for his team
--Buzz Williams (the coach of Marquette) looks like Seth from Superbad.
--Greivis Vazquez goes as Maryland does. If he plays well offensively and dictates pace, Maryland wins. If he sucks offensively and turns the ball over too much, they will lose. He's not a good enough defender to make up for poor offensive games and his teammates aren't good enough scorers to make up for his bad offensive games against even mediocre teams.
-- Luis Colon, the starting center for Kansas State, is the worst starter for any major conference team. He's TERRIBLE
-- Mark Fox is going to get UGA to the tourny next season. Trey Thompkins and Travis Leslie are great talents and they were competitive in a bunch games they should've sucked in. Amazing what they've done with a garbage team (besides the aforementioned tandem).
-- Florida State has the best defensive team in the college game. A bunch of length.
-- Lance Stephenson is a HUGE talent. Expect an All-American season next year. Expect a bunch of him not moving without the ball too lol.
-- Frank Martin is the Coach of the Year. Intense, a good basketball mind, and he gets the most of all the players.
-- Butler will get beat in the 1st round of the tourny vs. UTEP. I just took a step on the wild side.
-- Mississippi State deserved a tourny bid. They will win the NIT.
-- Dominique Jones is the M.V.P of the Big East.
-- Sherron Collins is a bad man...He's prone to overdribbling and bad shots, but he steps up in crunch time.
-- If Illinois team wasn't so soft and dependent on McCamey they would be in the tourny. I do think they'll be the best team in the Big 10 next year.
-- Hassan Whiteside is the most overhyped prospect I've seen this year. He's VERY weak and he have 0 motor and heart. He's also a TERRIBLE on-ball defender. He'll be a bust in the NBA if he declares as expected.
-- Julyan Stone is a player that will be a prospect next year after a good tourny for UTEP. 6'6" pure PG.
-- Ish Smith is going to be too out of control for Wake to win their tourny game. I still mess with my boy though.
-- Donald Sloan is going to carry Texas A&M to the Sweet 16.
-- Ohio State is going to be a Elite 8 team, even with their lack of depth. Turner has enough offensive players to get them there.
-- I hate it for the teams that play Cornell, Northen Iowa, and Richmond. All 3 will be in the Sweet 16.
-- Kansas will win the title.
I think Kansas and Kentucky are the two most talented teams in America, but after those two, this tournament is wide open. Starting with the 4 vs 13 matchups and everything else in between, I can see all kinds of upsets happening.
Also, shout out to Landry Fields of Stanford. I think he was the best player in the pac 10 and he went under the radar on a bad team in a bad conference. But 22 ppg, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and the best defenseive player on the squad. Hope some NBA teams give him a look.
Shouts out to the Pac-10 for getting 2 teams in the tourny! They proved me wrong.
Also, how do you feel about UCLA next year?
UCLA will bounce back I have them second in the pac 10 behind Arizona. They have a top 15 recruting class with a center who should start from day one and a sg i saw play a week ago who reminds me a little of Afflalo. I was talking to a guy who used to play for the bruins and is still close with the team a few months ago and he said they are getting a juco point from chicago who should start from day one. Apparently he is the top juco point in the nation. Tyler Honeycutt, Reeves Nelson and Malcolm Lee are all returing starters and I really think Honeycutt is gonna blow up big time. I think he is the best pro prospect in the conference.
Hard to say where they will rank nationally, but for once they are not losing anybody for the nba early and actually aren't losing any major differnce maker at all. Top 25 im thinking but still not a title contender.
i agree that cornell, n. iowa and richmond are sweet 16 calibur teams...particularly cornell. however, you picked kansas to win it all which would prevent n. iowa from making the sweet 16 as they would match up in the 2nd round if they both win in round 1. n. iowa is a great defensive team though.
i filled out my brackets already and made my predictions. my latest prediction is that my bracket is already busted. it is tough to pick some of these games.
Adi, Luis Colon probably wouldn't start for Penn State. That's how HORRIBLE he is
How is Cal a 8 seed and Washington is a 11 seed?
Cal is the better team of the 2 IMO, even though Washington got the season series 2-1
^Who are these people??
