josh huestis 6'8 sf 215 38 1/2 inch vertical 7'4 wing span
Can score, rebound, play defense and block shots. Averaged more than 10 rebounds, 4.5 blocks and 15 points per game as a junior in 2008-09 to lead C.M. Russell High to a 21-2 record and the Class AA state title. Was state tourney MVP. Also earned AA All-State and Great Falls Tribune Super State honors. Physical players, but needs to bulk up for college game. As a sophomore in 2007-08 season he earned first-team all-conference, all-AA tournament and second-team East All-State honors.
Huestis exploded onto the summer scene with his production at various tournaments and camps. This summer he opened many coaches eyes with his impressive frame (long arms and overall great length) and athleticism. Although he has some solid physical qualities, he is somewhat of a 'tweener at this stage....
at the time he was just learning to play sf for the first time..he can now play sf and sg
forgot to add that he got nominated for the mcdonalds allamerican game and got picked for the top california allstar game. and after he verbally commited to stanford he got calls from duke, kentucky, florida, ucla, and texas
already had offers at one point or another during the summer from
do you see him playing consistent minutes right away?
He should come to Duke, we need a explosive wing.
I honestly think he can be a freshman to watch next season. Keep us updated man. Do you think he could start next season?
coach told him he will start..actually every coach that offered said he would start and usc said they wanted to build there team around him. he really wanted to go to unc but he had a bad game when they came to see him. most of the schools that recruited him knew nothing about him and came to see other players. gtown was recruiting toney mitchell( signed with mizzo top 25-50 player) and after josh destroyed him one on one in there game gtown went after josh hard. not sure if anyone has watched stanford but other then green and laundry the rest of the team sucks. the recruits coming in are pretty good...top 10-15 recruiting class in the nation
just so proud of him because before this season he was strictly a pf/c and a great defender but we all knew he had the ability to play the wing. then my brother got him a trainer out in cali who trains nba players and had him working out with cali nba players. the best compliment he got was when coach dawkins and isah thomas said he reminds them so much of grant hill because hes long very athletic great defender smart as hell (3.95 gpa) and because hes just learning the position and has pure natural ability.
dont wanna sound like dhamp but in this case i have to....i told peopel on here thatafter this summer he would get noticed and coachs would be after him hard even though he played ball in montana
duke didnt offer. they were gonna if they didnt get barnes.
i've been breaking down the pac next year, and i have stanford right around the middle, 5-7 range. Losing fields will obviously hurt but Mann and Green are both gonna be key returning players. The freshmen will have a lot of responsibility if they are gonna be one of the better teams and im never big on putting too much stock in freshman. Arizona, UCLA, Washington, and Washington State should all be better then stanford.
mann sucks...hate to say it but every freshman coming in can do what he does and more. green is very very nice though. never watched stanford before this year but after watching them this year i came to my conclusion. on top of all that this is dawkins first real recruiting class so his recruits are gonna get aloooooooooooooooooooot of time. watch out for the powel kid. very nice post game. face up big man. not sure about the croatian kid but i hear hes good and is a lock to start at center which wont suprise me considering how the big men who are already there play. not sure where they are gonna finish because i havnt watched the other teams more then once and i dont know who they will have coming back
he's also still growing.. he was only 6'6'1/2 this past summer
Very cool, Quincey, hope he does well. Keep us posted if he stays at Stanford or goes somewhere else.
Has Coach Cal talked to him, or one of the UK assistants, Delk or Padgett, or Strickland?
nope he had just got a letter. he didnt respond though. he has already signed with stanford
between the legs dunk last year
Come on man, Future Pac 10 POY? I dunno man.
pretty much you cant really make a opinion since you have never seen him play. it would be different if you have. havent you said some guys are future nba players yet you havent seen them play as well...just went by what other people said?...i guess with you if everyone hasnt said it then its doubtful
When did I say that?
Come on Quincey- stop pulling stuff out ya ass man. I just said it's a tough predict. You try to always be right all the time. Let it go.
You're right, I never seen him play. You did. But I wouldn't be wrong if I said i would be tough for him to become Pac 10 player of the year. There are players in the conference who can win it. That's like me saying: Enes Kanter will be SEC player of the year next season. We don't know that. It's possible because he's going to the conference but it's a tough prediction because players improve and we don't know the future.
You need to chill man....I posted that thing 5 days ago.
if you have never seen a player play then you cant say if a guy has a chance to win it or not.. what sense does that make if you have never seen him play?
and yeah we dont know the future yet ive seen you say many times this or that player WILL do this or that even though you dont know the future....so how can you say someone WILL or WONT do something if you dont know the future??
im guessing you will say because thats what you think after seeing the player play which makes my point of you cant say someone WONT do something if you have never seen them play
I never said it WONT happen. I just said it's a tough predict. You can do say what you want. How many people had predicted all the Conference players of the year correct this year? We don't know but I can pretty much guess noone had it 100% correct.
Your just always mad man. I never said he won't. You always mad for no reason. Just CHILL out man.
so how isnt it tough to predict saying wall will be great?
It's not tough to be predict but your doing just that...Predicting.
Like I said you can say Wall can be great but if he is not a good due to injury or he goes off the beaten path....your'e prediction would be WRONG.
Just let it go man. I never said it's impossible but a tough predict. You gotta stop taking things to heart.
and you predicted kanter could get 8-15ppg easy but thats not tough to predict?
how can you even try to predict what a player is gonna do if you have never seen him play though?..that makes no senses
youve never questioned any all americans that i or someone else predicted to be lotto or all conference in the past even when you havent seen them.
if someone says wall can be great i dont see you saying comeone man i dunno because you have seen him play and you think he can correct?
tell me if this makes sense
ive never seen harrison barnes play...someone says barnes has the talent to be the number one pick next year and i say "come on ..i duno" clearley meaning they doubt it?
no it wouldnt make sense because ive never seen him play
Quincey, I have nothing against this prediction. Though when are you predicting he'll get this award, freshman year, sophomore year, junior year, or senior year. I mean if you're saying he gets it year 1 that is pushing it, but sophomore or junior year if he has shown he can play well in the Pac-10 then by all means he will earn the award.
i said future..meaning college career...not a specific year..its obvious that knicksboy is hating( hell he even admitted it in a past post when the subject of my nephew came up by saying im hating and saying how bad stanford will be next year even though he hasnt seen one player play"
if he is suppossed to run a web site how does he think fans will take it seriously if he says he doubts what each player can do if he'snever seen themplay?
tell me does that make sense at all?
Okay, I mean I have to watch this kid play before I can pass judgment. Though, hopefully he brings Stanford back to prominence. Also, yeah there are plenty of players I have not seen, and I can't make any predictions about them because that's not fair. Quincey you seem to have seen many ball players being around the game for a while, so when either you and select few others on this board mention a player, I'll give him a look. I am considering going to the Jordan Brand Classic in April to get a preview of what's to come next year.
^^^exactly..thats why when i havent seen a player play who people pump up i say ..i have to see themfirst and then i will tell you about him. knicks boy and so many other people have never seen someplayers play and say what the player will do. then make an excuse like you cant predict the future yet they have many post like "john wall WILL be great". isnt that predicting the future?..and if its an opinion isnt it based on what you have seen? so it makes no sense to say what a player can or cant do if you have never seen him. i bet you if he was in the mcdonalds all american game and he never seen him he would answer differently
i have no problem with him saying that if he had seen him play then he can say " ive seen him and i dont see that award in his future"
I know you have mentioned Josh is your nephew, so a little bit of bias kicks in, but I have no problem with that. Your prediction for him to me isn't unrealistic by any means, if you said an All-American and POY candidate then I would object. Though, I haven't seen much game film of high school ball players, but this year I will be focusing a lot more. I want to look for more so the diamonds in the rough rather than the guys getting all the pub. I mean some of the biggest surprises are the under recruited guys with power conference skills because they didn't play on a good team in high school that got good exposure.
Also if he's going to Stanford not only is he smart, but he is probably a high character kid which along with a good record as well as putting up #'s goes a long way as well. If two guys have equal stats and team records, but one guy has a questionable character but may be the better player they may give it to other guy because they want the conference to be represented right.
Dude...you need to calm down.
You making it as if I said he will never be anything. All I said was it's a tough predict. That's it. Weren't you the same one who said something about opinions when Aran called you out about saying this site didn't have connections to the NBA? I think so...
All I said was my OPINION. We don't know if your nephew will be a PAC-10 player of the year or not. We DO NOT know because it's the future. It's your prediction.
I said Kanter CAN ( which is different then WILL) be a 8-12 point scorer. I never said he will. I can be wrong about it.
Are you happy?
yeah theres a lil bias but ive had other family members who ball( most of my family does) who i never said anything or much about. i didnt say much about him as a freshman or soph because i knew hed be a ok player but didnt see much more then that.after watching him as a jr i knew he had something special and i said it even before he got known by colleges out side of his state. i wrote espn, cnnsi.usatoday, hoopscooponline, etc hundreds of letters every week saying how good i thought he was. they hadnt seen him as well and some answered just like knicksboy did but i knew it was alright because when he went to vegas he would let the world know who he was and he did. he always went to vegas the year before but he only had pf center skills at the time.
its funny after vegas i started getting emails back asking me how to get in touch with him and how to get interviews and ask if hes willing to do a interview
so even though he is family i also see the talent... you think im hard on some of these other hs guys and college guys well im 5times as hard on him. only thing about him that suprised me is his bounce. he literally jumps out of the gym and if he is near the basket he wants to do nothing more then dunk on someones head ( ask top 50 player toney mitchell who is a freak athlete hisself)
Yeah, I mean he's playing his high school ball in Montana, so that does make these "experts" wonder how good he can be. Though, I think what has been proven is how you do in AAU ball is much more important than how you do in high school ball. I will take a guy who puts on a show in AAU over a guy who is average in AAU but sensational in high school ball where he is a man among boys.
and you said he can based on seeing him play correct?
"Very Polished. He will impress scouts alot. He can get 8-15 points easy with ease."
so if you can predict that he can do that easily i dont understand how you can doubt a player (who you have never seen) can get the POY award? does that really make sense to you...to doubt a player who you have never seen, can get a award?
and you said john wall WILL be great
exactly which is why we told him he needed to switch aau teams ...the other team he played for played in vegas but they played in a smaller division where the scouts dont come watch
i remember his first game against the canada grass root team ( tristen thompson, corey joesph, dwight poweel) and im sitting right next to
coack k and wojo
and every big name coach and or assistant that you can think of. with a rope seperating us. couldnt speak to them of course
I have never fully understood the recruiting process. Why are college coaches so restricted in speaking to players?? Is it because they are minors??
When did I say wall WILL be great? please send me that link please? I never remember saying that and If I did...that was probably after a amazing play lol
I never said he couldn't get the award. To be fair, I doubt it because of players I have seen. Josh might be good but I dunno if he's getting the Pac 10 POY award because of players I have seen and have High hopes for in the Pac 10. If that helps you....there you go.
Please, let it die already. You're making this a big deal over nothing.
exactly...you go by high profiles over even seeing a player play... a word of advice...dont do that on youre website.. people dont respect that at all. the websites who are the best are the ones who find out about the non high profile guys not the bandwagon sites who only talk about guys who everyone else talks about but doubt the ones who arent pumped up or who they havnt seen. if you wanna be a scout or journalist that is definatly the wrong way to go about it. and thats not to be hateful thats being real
^^^Quincey is that above post directed at me???
i can imagin if i mentioned harrison barnes to some people before he got big and tell them hes from iowa, how many people who never seen him would doubt him instead of saying..."hmmm ill have to check him out.
you cant speak to players because of the shady things that can go on. deals can be made bunch of other stuff that can happen
Oh okay thanks. Yeah, I mean to me if a guy can play with the best of them he can play. It doesn't matter to me if he is a 6'1" Smurf of Irish ancestry and is from South Dakota. As long as he's got the skills I want him. I don't get what's so hard about that for some people.
No...That's not the case.
I actually believe Derrick Williams will be my Pac 10 POY because I liked what I seen from him when I got the opp to see him play live as a freshman.
But once again, that's not the case. I always give players chances. That's why I didn't write Your Nephew off from being PAC 10 POY. I just said it was a tough predict. Maybe he can win. Derrick Williams is my boy. I met him, Hill and Momo Jones. Cool players. They allowed me to shootaround with them at home game.
Please don't think I'm disrespecting your nephew. To be honest, I would love to interview him for my upcoming High School part of my site.
Just because you saw Derrick Williams play live makes him your boy?? I mean if you got to interview him once that's cool, but to say he's your boy I think something is missing.
knicksfan....please read that paragraph again. Thanks.
What High school do you go to??
my thing is it makes no sense to doubt a guy you have never seen even if you like someone else. i remember the hassen topic someone asked me if i thought he could be a lotto pick.. i liked other guys who i have seen as lotto picks but i had never seen hassen play so theres no way i could doubt that he could be a lotto pic
its funny you mentioned derrick because josh out played him out at ucla this past summer. email sonny vaccaro and ask him about those games where they were matched up against each other
Well, I live in NY. I went to Bishop Laughlin for 3 months before moving to Upstate NY. My Dad lives in Burbank California and I went to chill with him for winter break. His friend is cool with the USC strength coach who got us tix's for the Zona- USC game. I met Momo and told him I was from NYC so we had something to talk about a little bit then I met Soloman and Derrick. I got to chill with them for a bit before the pre game shooting.
Don't need to lie sir.
Bishop Laughlin, eh? Were you going to play ball there??? Before Hofstra's coach left Branden Frazier was set to go to Hofstra, now he may go to Fordham. I heard he can shoot the lights out. I know he played with JayVaughn Pinkston.
Quincey....Truce? Please, I don't wanna argue. Since your his uncle- lead me somewhere where I can view him play some games or quarters
