He currently has 18 assists....after the 3rd quarter.
battle of two of the top rookie pg;s in collison vs curry
tyreke evans && brandon jennings are playing tonight?
i said two of the top, not necesarily the best.
my mistake .
It's crazy to talk about next season so soon, but where are the Hornets going to find minutes for Collison when Paul returns? Paul plays 35+ minutes per game. They could play them both together, but that'd be a very small backcourt.
I think the Hornets should trade Collison for pieces. The Hornets need players, and Collison is a great trading chip. As a Knicks fan I would consider trading Wilson Chandler or Danilo Gallinari for Collison.
i think the hornets will listen and have an open ear of what's out there for collison, but i dont think they push hard to trade him. He and paul wont work well together in my opinion. And at this point, i think collison is proving hes more then just a back up. The question is what team out there steps up and makes a legit offer for him. Maybe someone with a top 10 pick who needs a pg and would prefer collison over what is in the draft.
I've been watching him a lot lately and I had no idea he'd be this good. He averaged 22 points, 8 assists and 4 rebounds in Feb. He's averaged 22 points, 11 assists and over 2 steals the last five games.
He gets buckets too. He rarely has bad shooting games and usally shoots up in the high 40s. 80+ percent from the free-throw line. Respectable three-point shooter.
I like him better than Brandon Jennings.
yeah, with his speed he gets whereever he wants and defenses have to play off him so he shoots a good percentage from deep. And inside the lane he has all kinds of runners and floaters. The defense is good. I believe this site had him going top 10 before his junior season, but he had his stock drop a lot those last 2 seasons. A lot of people thought it was a mistake to take him as high as new orleans did. I didn't think he would be anything like he has shown. But a lot of guys under ben howland play better then expected because they have a short leash and run a half court slow down style that doesn't let you show off as much
Collison is very good. I kinda wrote him off after that debacle that was the 2008 Final 4 game against Memphis. It was as I've said before the worst I've ever seen someone get dominated in a hyped matchup like that.
But anyway, I didn't think he'd be anything more than a solid backup. I still have some doubts about whether he's a true starter, but he's been impressive. I'm not going to go overboard on him just yet. Ramon Sessions did alot of this same stuff last season and he's shown that he's a spot starter and great backup, nothing more or less. I think he'd be a great trading piece and you could probably get a good complimentary player or 2 if you dealt him.
Ha... I remember when Sessions was popular on this site. He had Sheltwon going nuts and claiming he could be the savior for the Knicks' franchise lol. Walsh not giving him the full MLE doesn't look like too much of a mistake now.
I remember Collison's sophomore and the beginning of his junior year at UCLA. He was a lottery prospect then and a lot of people liked him (me included). Then he got injured and their was the emergence of Westbrook which made me completely forget about Collison.
Then there was the 2008 NBA Draft where I was a bit surprised Oklahoma City (then Seattle) took Westbrook at number 4. (Leading up to the draft I remember everyone had them taking Jerryd Bayless.) It made me wonder where Collison would have gone had he entered.
I felt like the longer he stayed in college the more it hurt his stock (and the stock of LR Mbah a Moute). I'm sure people thought there was a reason for their not leaving and they lost "potential" every year. Also, Kevin Love and Russell Westbrook got most of the credit for UCLA's outstanding year in 07-08 and after they left the team wasn't nearly as good.
I'm glad to see Collison do well in the NBA and I wish I wasn't so surprised. I would love to see him in a Heat uniform. He could compliment D-Wade really well.
tez Sessions has not been getting minutes and Minny is terrible. Dude play making skill is legit. He would be a huge upgrade over Duhon and Rodreigas and everyone knows that. I still think he can be a solid starting point guard and i hope he gets his chance. if i was the Knicks i would trade Chandler whom I really like as a a player for Colllison . There may be more needed to make it all work but New Orleans needs a young starting sf because peja is on his way out and Julian Wright is not the answer. Look Minny will trade Sessions probably doing the draft coming up and if he can minutes he will prove i was not just talking out my rear end but then is i have been wrong about stuff but I know dude can run the point. I was hyping Curry up as point before the draft and that turned out great. I think because of Paul's knee injury unless they can grab another cheap young point to play spot minutes they will keep Collison at least past next year unless they can move up in the draft using him but if they dont may it end they are in a good place . They may even luck up and win the draft.
Collison was top 10 player as a sophmore than it went downhill from there as they critique his game and somehow forgot he was good.
Jennings has more super star potential than Collison but i am glad my Hornets got him and Thornton which is wild because a lot of teams past on both of these players and i know they have to be regretting it. For a team that picked where the Hornets did to get two solid starter caliber players that showed they can play well and contribute a great deal right away. I hope Hornets can at least get one solid starter type in this draft and we move Julian Wright and Mo Peterson.
If Paul wasn't so big in New Orleans, I'd trade him becaz though he has a big contract you can get picks and a young player as well.
I was watching a game a few weeks ago and Jeff Van Gundy said that the Hornets should trade Chris Paul for some wing players. Then he said the most ridiculous trade ever! He said they should trade Paul to memphis for OJ Mayo, Rudy gay, AND Marc Gasol. LOL. I promise he said that on live TV. And all Mike Breen could say was "isn't that a little much to give up if you are Memphis." A LITTLE TOO MUCH. That is basically their whole core of players. But i think if you can get a couple good young players for Paul, I would do it. I dont know if this would work finacially but the Hornets could trade Paul to Philly for Iguodala, Holiday, and Lou Williams. I dont know if that would be enough for NO to do it but something like that for any team that could use a PG.
I think Collison should be either traded for another wing talent or for a Cap relief with another player
for example if there is a team who is ready to take Peja final year to take Collison I think NO should agree ,also the trades suggested by knicksfan7 is good
lastly lol at Jeff Van Gundy
Do you think the upside that these players are showing is due to increased playing time or where they just sound good draft picks?
Thornton has really suprised me, didnt think he would transition well but he is super aggressive, and collison is a steady point gaurd.
The sergio rodriguez comment is on hold till we see the numbers he puts up on the knicks
Collison shot about 50%FG 40%3FG and 80%FT his last two yrs of college... it's no surprise to me that he's doing well. He always showed he had the quickness (although he did struggle against bigger guards)... DC will go down as one of my favorite college players of all time. Seems like a genuinely good guy.
i'd luv to see collison traded to my sixerz. to bad it won't happen :-(
but N.O should trade him becuz i dnt see he and paul workin in a backcourt 2gether. u'd have 2 6-footers that are best at creatin when they have the ball in their hands. reminds me of when the sixerz drafted speedy claxton BEFORE they were able to complete the ai trade. when they got stuck with both of them, they tried to sell us on both of them playing 2gether. PLEASE!!
lol, even though he had 7 turnovers last night, his 20 dimes give him almost a 3-1 asst-TO ratio! which is darn good!
