MARYLAND takes down Duke
this is it. the moment that us three maryland fans on here have been waiting for. win and we get first place in the acc. last game they gave it to us pretty good at there home now they come to our place. the man alot of peopel on here thought was maybe a second rounder at best has now gained some fans on here and among nba scouts who now feel he can go in the later half of the first round. one of the best maryland players in history and the only player in acc history with 2000 points, 700 assists, and 600 rebounds thats right...greivis vasquez. people say he's slow, cant jump but somehow gets it done
and its sr night
if you arent watching this game then you are missing a very very good game
Im too lazy to switch the channel.
Good game. Vazquez isn't playing good D right now, but he's been playing well as a PG offensively.
That was a big-time shot by Vazquez!
hell yeah..who ever is checking vasquez isnt playing good d either. vasque d isnt that bad actually. he has to go through picks to check his man. its not straight up. duke has all there guards going off of screens. the big men need to hedge out more
HELLLLLLL YEAHHHH TERPS
vasquez dad is just as hype as he is
I'm looking past all that athleticism stuff about Vazquez. He's just really a great basketball player, and competitor. He's a guy you love to watch.
I would love for the Knicks to get him as there PG he knows how to play the position and should be able to make an impact right away. The whole athleticism thing about him doesn't bother me considering he is a 6'6", so even if a guy is faster than him he can make up with size. Also, he wants the ball in the clutch, and I love that. I watched the whole game and Greivis turned it up towards the end, as well as Scheyer, but Vasquez prevailed in the end, great game.
Im a big maryland fan and i have confidence in them beating a lot of teams but usually not duke. So happy to see them win. Also, It is tough for Greivis to chase around sheyer for a 35 second shot clock and then go run the offense. That will take a lot out of u. I didnt know how i felt about him when he first got to MD but he has definitely grown on me. Even when the rest of the team comes scared he comes to play. Not quite sure how his father is about 5' 7" at the most and he is 6 6" though. Hayes needs to shoot more. Hes good but could be very good if he had any balls. Milbourne is very athletic with a decent jumpshot, but needs to be more consistent. Give Jordan williams some more time with Gary and hes going to be a big time player in the ACC. You can tell Tucker gained confidence after that game winner. (which i was at comcast to see) Mosley plays tough and is getting better skillwise. Bowie came up big tonight and I believe he will be the starting point gaurd next year. Plus a decent draft class I hope we can stay towards te top of the ACC.
Great to see coach k's scrunched up pissed off face screaming &$#%#&@! when the camera goes on him everytime as well.
Yea man this is great UMD fully back on the basketball map.
Its pretty much a lock that Grevis and Gary are POY and COY respectively.
Vasquez is a very good college player but he wont make it in the pro's.. He plays too out of control, but that is kind of his game I guess. Just not something I see translating to the NBA at all. Perfect example is when he got the charge called against him for running over Zoubek... Also that crazy circus shot at the end of the game was an awful shot.. nine out of ten times that does not come close to going in. He just doesn't always play smart... He just goes without thinking--I think thats a good way to put it..
And also, Maryland does not have 1st place in the ACC. Assuming both teams win their last games its a TIE between Duke and Maryland. Duke gets the number one seed from some sort of tie-breaker.
scouts seem to think he will play well inthe nba which is why he is considered to be a late first early second. he has proved in college,in the workouts last year before the draft( in which he out played many lotto picks and scouts said then he could possibly sneak into the first round) and the olympics where he held his own against other nba players. this guy exceeds expectations where ever he goes with his skills and his effort and most of all his heart.i have zero doubt that he makes it in the nba. and im liking how the team will look nextyear. jordan williams will be a all acc guy as well as mosley. tucker will step up and have a drew nicolas type season and there are somepretty good recruits coming in. we will miss vasquze and milbourne and hayes for sure though. no one except our fans even thought we would do this well this year. congrats terps
Q, say the Knicks buy a 1st round pick like they did last year and use it to draft Vasquez. I would project Vasquez to go anywhere from 25 to 35 in the draft. While we both have no clue what players the Knicks are interested we do the current roster as well as the coaching philosophy of Mike D'antoni. How do you think Vasquez would fit in D'antoni's system? Also, could he become the starting PG for the Knicks (I think he can)?
for the knicks.he can definatly become the starter. he can do everything sergio can do except hes taller and can shoot much better
how do you think he would fit into the triangle offense? and what do you think of eric hayes...and what happened to that jin soo kim kid?
i think he got cut. i love hayes game. hes gonna make alot of money overseas because his game is perfect for over there. and vasquez would fit in perfectly with the triangle. i wish my lakers can get him.. hed be a nice back up for them
I wouldn't say Vasquez shoots much better than Sergio... Sergio is a career 31% shooter from 3 and a career 40% shooter overall.. Vasquez is shooting 44% overall and 38% from 3... Translating to the NBA the percentages will probably be very similar...
