Shaq done for the season
Shaq's thumb injury will require surgery and he'll be out for the rest of the season.
I don't think this will affect Cleveland too much. What do y'all think?
well they are getting back big Z it looks like and they have Jamison and Hickson, so I think if they were to make it to the finals and play the Lakers I think they would be okay.
I think they will be aight but I mean going through the East they gonna have to deal with Howard, Perkins, and Horford and Smith. All of those guys have pretty good size so it will be interesting to see the matchup problems they create. Big Z is solid but no where near the defensive presence Shaq can be against those guys. And if Howard keeps developing at the rate he is, Orlando might be troublesome.
They think they'll have Shaq back for the playoffs, but are not for 100% sure right now.
I think if they run into Orlando and don't have Shaq to at least contend with Howard, Orlando could beat them again. Z and Andy V can't defend Howard. You have to double team him and we know what happened last year when they doubled him...
that is awful. i really hope that get shaq back for the playoffs. horrible news for Cleveland. They might be a better team without him since they get to run a lot more and that plays to everyones strong suits, especially lebron but shaq has always been great in the playoffs when it becomes a half court game.
this hurts more then people know. the reason for getting shaq was to deal with dwight howard because of how bad howard hurt them. jamison is good but lewis can match him in production. im sure some fans dont think this will be a very big deal and it wont seem that way untill they go against orlando
they need him for the playoffs. as long as he comes back for the playoffs i think they will be okay
The Cavaliers said they will update a timeline for his return following the procedure, but a typical recovery period is 6 to 8 weeks. There are seven weeks left in the regular season.

Dhamp2......Please don't jump on Syracuse's bangwagon. We've been here all season baby! Holla back.
All regular season damn I figured 3 weeks he'd be back.
Cavs in trouble they lucky to have a lot of big men.
What in his recent history makes anyone think the next seven weeks he is gonna be a workout freak? I am willing to bet he gains a bit of weight and is in terrible shape when he returns - sad, imagine if I am wrong shaq busts his his butt getting in shape drops 15 lbs and comes back 8 weeks from now. History says it won't happen though, he could have been best ever if he stayed in shape.
i was thinking the same thing just now kenk... he has never been known to be a hard worker as far as staying in shape and even if he tried to kinda stay in shape nothing replaces playing in games and the up and down running of a game. this might really hurt the cavs come playoff time. i dont see it hurting them too much during the regular season except for one big thing. home court advantage throughout the playoffs. that will hurt them if they gt to the finals to meet the lakers with the lakers having home court
as stated above, he is out for 6-8 weeks and their are 7 weeks left of regular season. The cavs don't need shaq for the first round. But i'm a little concerned that shaq may being missing his jumpers when he comes back.
