he really shows some potential.
i'm watching UNC-Wake Forest and he is playinh very well, 5 blocks in a half! 6-7 rebounds, je is as long athletic good shot-blocker as Whiteside plus he can make some excellent passes and he handles the ball very well..nice
the knocks with him is tht he way to damn skinny, and he extremely raw. however, his potential is craving. i remember watchin the game vs unc and msu. the blocks he had were incredible, with the wing span he has, it makes him at least
he has actually grown a lil more on me the more i watch him. i still give him 3 years before hes ready for the pros but he's a very interesting prospect
just needs time to work on his body and gaining weight-strength. He does need to work on his shot, he shooting around 47% (I think) from the free throw line. He has the skill set to be a great hybrid power forward in the league- I don't know about him playing SF, not unless he develops a jumper. No matter what happens, nice to see the kid playing up to his potential.
he kinda reminds me of randolph.. neither is a sf but could potentially become sf. both are painfully skinny( randolph not so much any more). henson isnt as talented as randoplh was at the same stage though and i dont think he will end up as good as him but he still reminds me of him
Anthony was much better as a freshmen compared to what Henson is...I think if Henson improves his face up game, he could be something special. A real hybrid pf who is an absolute mismatch and he has the length to bother PF'S in NBA. The strength part just comes with time. I doubt he will ever be real strong though.
If there is any brightspot in UNC's terrible season, I think it is John Henson getting the opportunity to play more minutes and develop as a player, I agree with Quincey as far as him still needing a couple years, but for a guy as wirey as he is to be as solid of a rebounder as he is, shows real promise, as well as his abilities as a shot blocker.
yeah thats why i said randolph was better at the same stage
A really raw Odom. Henson made some passes that most people his height cant make. I see Anthony Randolph being a really effective 4-5 with his athleticism, defense, developing strength and mismatch-ability. I see Henson as a combo forward that wont ever really bang down low, but a good looking jumper, nice handles and good passing will allow him to play on the perimeter more.
mmmmm i guess i could go with odom since you put really raw. but if hes that far off then i cant really put him in the comparison you know.. like saying someone is a really raw kobe when they are closer to jr smith
henson is very raw tayshaun prince type of player ( if he develop constitent jumper ) i dont see him as a four in nba
I'm from Tampa and when the area found out he was a mcdonalds all American we were shocked. In high school he wasn't even a dominant player. He was great at blocking shots but he wasn't great on offense. He was getting bodied by high schoolers back here and I think it's become painfully obvious that he needs to put on about 40 lbs before he can finish effectively and play post d effectively.
he prob made it because of what he did during the summer. that happens alo oftimes. what you do in aau and camps are much more important then what u do for youre hs team
It was pretty surprising to see him going to UNC as well. Most of the guys who played with or against him were like "no way he's a top five player for the class of 09".
