This year's Kentucky team is exactly why I'll never have a "team" in the NCAA

This year's Kentucky team is exactly why I'll never have a "team" in the NCAA

By "team" I mean a team I root for through thick and thin. In the NBA I am a Kings fan for worse and for worser. There is an emotional tie or something that no matter the year or where I live they will be the only NBA team I root for. College is far different. I've only been following for a few years so maybe that is why, but with all the one and dones it's hard to like a team for the longterm. At least in the NBA you theoretically will have a core group of guys to follow for a few years. As you lose a couple you gain a couple more that will last a few years. There is transition. If you have a team in the NCAA you lose your most exciting, best players within 2 years most of the time. Kentucky is going to lose this game but when they came back to tie it at 65, or when I watch Wall to Cousins, or a ridiculous Wall pass, layup or block I get excited. Why would I want to love another team so I can't enjoy this? Sure I could love team A and still like watching team B, but there is only so much love to go around. In the NBA I don't care what any other team does besides the Kings unless I placed a bet. Sure I rooted for the Magic to beat the Lakers, but when they lost I didn't care. If the Kings lost in the finals I would be sick to my stomach for years, even if they won the next year. I still think about the 2002 Kings/Lakers series.
Next year depending on what Coach Cal does I may not care about Kentucky at all. This way every year I get to "bandwagon" so every year is a good year.
I have enough heartbreak at the professional levels. This way as the teams change I get to change as well. Could you be a Lakers fan if they lost Shaq, Kobe, Magic, Kareem, The Logo, every 1-4 years? There's no way! I usually hate bandwagon fans and I know that is absolutely what I'm doing, but I'm glad. Kansas is better this year, but I like watching Kentucky more. Every year I get to pick a team that I like watching. If this team stayed together and played next year I don't know if they would lose a game, but we know this team will be gone come draft day, so next year I will maybe get to watch a new team, with a stud freshman or two and I love that. It may be Kentucky again and it may be Kentucky for the next 5 years but as soon as they suck like NC and UConn do this year I will be able to jump ship without thinking twice.
As a Kings fan I want to like other teams, I want to like the Magic, Celtics or Cavs or anyone else in the East thinking it may be easier since I can NEVER be a Lakers fan. But no matter how much I watch any other NBA team I will never be emotionally invested the way I am the Kings, I will never be upset if they lose or ecstatic when they win.
Thank God for NCAA.

I'm the same way with

I'm the same way with Kentucky. It made me sick to my stomach when he had Gillespie coaching. There's not a worse feeling than when Kentucky isn't among the nation's best.

Well Coach Cal has said he won't stay here forever. I'm guessing he'll only be here for about 5-6 years.

Well as long as we don't get

Well as long as we don't get another Gillespie, we'll keep getting the recruits. And Cal can follow in Pitino's footsteps and leave for U of L haha
