It's official, Arenas staying with the Wizards.
In a link on the homepage, there was a story containing Wizards GM Ernie Grunfield backing Arenas, and saying that they will keep him. Is this a bad idea? Did he not want to go through the trouble terminating Gil's contract with the Player's Association breathing down his neck?
I personally think the Wizards need to completely blow up this roster, and that includes Arenas' bad contract. On a team that will try to grow with youth, Arenas shoot first mentality at a pass first position will stunt the teams growth. I'm not so sure about this one...
I thought they blew up the roster at the trade deadline. I would be willing to bet that Grunfield got word that they wouldn't be able to terminate his contract. Otherwise, why would they want to pay him his ridiculous salary?
No one is going to trade for that contract... The Wiz knows the can get rid of him...
Ya, when I meant blow up, I meant completely terminate his contract, but I guess he couldn't, and now he's trying to look like good guy in front of the media.
i think he knows there was almost no chance of terminating the deal or pulling off a trade. Truth is, if arenas learns from this and becomes a real leader, he is still young and very talented. The wiz can build around him and with a top pick this summer and tons of cap space, they should be able to get things turned around pretty quickly.
does anyone know if Arenas will play again?
I mean having gun in his locker is some serious shit
well the league is not gonna do any more to him. As for the leagal system, it's still taking place and from what i had heard awhile back he wil probably do at most 3 months in jail.
I heard there was similar cases in DC that landed 5 years in prison. Not saying Gilbert is going to get that but it does have a lot of flexibility in how much he can get.
From what I've been hearing, it'll only be a 3-6 month term for Arenas. That's not bad. I thought that the Rockets could have made a play for Arenas.
To Wizards: McGrady
To Houston: Arenas, McGee, Blatche.
This is all assuming the legal system allows Arenas to be able to be with his new team during the season
It's not like the Rockets are going to be able to chase after a high level talent in the off season. Wizards get rid of a head case, and get cap space galore. Rockets get a star. Arenas gets a new beginning. Everyone wins.... kinda.
I say theres no chance he goes back, hes just blowin smoke out his as$ and looking good for the media
