Bobcats Close To Acquiring Tyrus Thomas
Damn man... you got the info before I did...
Yeah, the pick is protected
Its funny how you have so many teams rumored to get one guy, Tyrus Thomas name was linked to the Rockets, Knicks, Kings, Suns, and Sixers....and then a team just sneaks out of nowhere to grab him...lol
Its no biggie...Points dont mean anything to me. I just wanna know...lol...
I think this is an unreal trade for the Bulls. They couldnt have hoped for much more... A first round and a starting 2 guard... Man..
I think the Bulls couldve gotten more, but still a good deal
So far the Bulls have done great. Getting someone to take Salmons' contract off of their hands was huge and getting value for Tyrus was a big plus. Kirk looks to be staying though.
What?? My "Forbidden Topic" post just disappeared?? WTF... I didnt delete it... Anyway, what more could the Bulls have gotten?? I mean, Ty Thomas isnt going to attract much..
I think the trade with the Knicks for Al Harrington would've been a better deal, but you can't argue with a scoring two guard and a future first round pick.
I wonder how Gatorheels feels about his boy getting traded? I'm sure he's upset lol. If he didn't like the way Thomas was treated under Skiles and Del Negro, he really want like the short leash Brown will have with him.
I remember when he was one of the highest rated point guards in the draft and a guy who actually played his senior year. I thought he was a solid draft choice and would become a decent NBA PG. What happened to him? Were the draft pundits wrong about Law or was he yet another guy never given an opportunity to prove what he can do?
Great trade due to aquiring that first. Bulls are making a great effort to use the next 2 offseasons to build a contender around Rose.
Let me try again.
I remember when Acie Law was one of the highest rated point guards in the draft and a guy who actually played his senior year. I thought he was a solid draft choice and would become a decent NBA PG. What happened to him? Were the draft pundits wrong about Law or was he yet another guy never given an opportunity to prove what he can do?
When Atlanta drafted Law, it was assumed that he'd take the starting role. Well... They ended up signing Mike Bibby.
To make a long story short, I think Law just got lost in the rotation and then lost confidence. He really didn't have NBA point guard skills to begin with.
im another one who was wrong about law. i figured he would come in and play pretty well. i actually thought he'd be doing what johnny flynn is doing at best
OK trade for the Bulls.
Great trade for Charlotte.
Everyone will see now how much Tyrus actually helped the Bulls. He will be missed. Flip & Law aren't going to be factors for Chicago.
Bobcats just got better. They are going to be a scary team in the playoffs.
Did you watch Tyrus last night throwing up wild hook shots again Heels? While Taj had 11 offensive boards. I don't dislike the guy, hope he can figure it out with the Bobcats.
Whats your point about the wild hook shots? Tyrus still went 4-7 from the field. Tyrus is still shooting a higher FG% than Taj Gibson for the season.
Bulls just basically said we give up on this season. They traded their 4th & 5th best players in my opinion & replaced them with a bunch of players who won't be factors. Maybe Warrick will be descent.
My point about the wild hook shots is that he tries to be a player that he isn't, like when he always tries to bring the ball upcourt when he gets a rebound. If he just plays the power forward position and stops trying to be a guard he should be alright.
I love what they did. Yeah, they kind of gave up on this season but do you think that they were going to go deep in the playoffs? They set themselves up nicely for next year, pending they land some players in the market, and years to come.
I'm going to miss Tyrus' shotblocking ability and I really thought Chicago could have gotten more than a pair of journeymen and a 1st round pick...
What I don't miss from him is his attitude... He's been playing for 4 NBA seasons now and guys like Rajon Rondo, Andrew Bynum, Josh Smith are doing better in terms of the number of season they have progressed and developed... Tyrus just kept on teasing us with his potential but never really got us fans jump to our seats consistently... As a fan, I grew impatient...
lol..by trading tyrus and salmons they said that they give up??....come on now its not like either player was tearing it up on the court. and tyrus attitude isnt gonna fly out in larry brown land. he better shape up or he wont get any time. and flip is a baller. he's proved when given time what he can do. very good pick up there
^ One of the keys to life is to stay patient. haha
Yeah the Bulls should've gotten more value for Tyrus.
I honestly scratch my head every time I hear someone talk about Tyrus taking a bad shot. I mean he was 2nd on the team in FG%!
In the entire league out of the players that have played at least 500 minutes Tyrus is 5th in steals per minute & 8th in blocks per minute. No other player is in the top 20 in both categories. Only Josh Smith & Marcus Camby are in the top 40 in both categories. Tyrus has skills.
Plus Chicago won't get that pick from Charlotte until 2012 at the earliest.
Seriously though....
What the Bulls should've done was fired Coach VDN
Quincey- Did you watch the playoffs last season? Bulls vs. Celtics?
Salmons hit a bunch of clutch shots. Salmons was balling last year in the playoffs.
Thomas stepped up huge in game 1. He made several key jumpers in overtime!
Tyrus 14 monnths younger than Taj Gibson.
Bulls gave up on Salmons & Tyrus too quickly.
VDN destroyed that squad.
Gatorheels: Tyrus has done nothing for the Bulls the past four years. Nothing. He hasn't improved one bit from the moment he was drafted, and is a guy that clearly doesn't care about getting better at this point in his career. He is consistently out of position on offense and defense, doesn't know the plays, has been suspended multiple times for conduct detrimental. He gives you one good game for every six or seven sh*tty ones. Maybe a change of scenery will help, but don't tell me the Bulls will miss this guy. He's been playing 15-20 minutes a game since he's come back from his broken forearm and has been putting up terrible numbers....don't understand how that translates to the Bulls missing him.
Trading Salmons clears up cap space for next year, unloading two mediocore players with a crappy contracts and putting yourself in position for a max player in offseason = great deals for the Bulls
^ I just gave an example of one thing Tyrus did for the Bulls. He won game 1 in OT for them against the Celtics.
Put up terrible #'s LOL be for real. I just gave some examples above about some quality #'s Tyrus has put up.
You should be a realist & not a hater!
i see youre poitn but they need that more then just one game. and salmons hasnt been the same player this year. thats like me saying look how sasha did wit the lakers the year before. and you look at tyrus whole season last year what did he do?..10ppg? 6 or 7 reb?...the key word here is consistancy. and tyrus has been consistantly average. not real good or great.
Yeah I've had this discussion before. I know Salmons hasn't played as well this season as he did last.
Still I would rather have Salmons than Warrick & Alexander if I am trying to win playoff games. It was a good move financially which I said earlier in this post.
I would rather have Tyrus than Law & Flip.
Just my personal preferences
Never said Tyrus was great.
also noticed you mentioned one playoff game with thomas. what about the rest of the games?..he put up 9 pts and 6rebs. this was without gibson and deng there so he had plenty of chances.. and big baby was giving him the business
Heels, why do you keep bringing up the fact that Tyrus is 14 months younger than Taj? I don't see what point you are trying to make. Tyrus has been in the league 4 years and Taj is putting up almost the same numbers he is, as a rookie.
I like Salmons. The guy never complained about riding the bench and is a quality player. He is an underrated defender and he does have the ability to take over some games. But.....he is not worth 7mil to be a bench player.
This was a really good trade deadline for the Bulls. Now they better land one of the A list free agents if they want to be considered a contender soon.
We have the same preferences my friend... We do.. My heart tells me that they should have kept Tyrus because he is such a great shotblocker. He gives that energy that allows fans to be pumped up thus add certain momentum to the game for Chicago that it really needs... Not to mention his athleticism is out of this world much like J-Smoove... Yet, my brain tells me this could be a good move for Chicago in their long term plans since they are able to put on a much more flexible cap this summer... Acie Law will never be the "Chauncey Billups" in which this site compared him to and I don't think Flip Murray can take over games like BG used to but they are quality pick-ups though I really, really think Chicago could have gotten more... It's just one of those funny things that happened on trade night with all the talks and all the scenarios being analyzed, the least expected team gets to acquire the player whom many are seeking to have...LOL... Think of AI in 2006, I think with all the LA's, Dallas, San Antonio, I don't think many expected him to be at Denver...
John Salmons was a disappointment this year... Unlike last year where he torched the other teams because of his clutch and scoring prowess... This year, he has been nothing but bricks... From an 18 ppg, he went tumbling down to 12 ppg... That's pretty disappointing from him... Hakkim Warrick and Joe Alexander are good acquisitions... I hope Joe will be given a chance to live up to the 8th pick (though unlikely)... But like someone said, he is a plain athlete not a basketball player... A workout warrior who impressed a lot of scouts in Draft Combines but never translated well in an NBA game... Hakkim Warrick is an athletic guy who can probably replace Tyrus Thomas BUT his shot blocking skills and defense are subpar compared to Tyrus...
One thing for sure, Chicago will be major major players in this year's Free agency... I can't wait who they'll be able to sign up... I'm pretty sure a lot of guys out there would want to play with Derrick Rose...
