John Wall overrated?

I know Im gonna get blasted for this..But, Ive watched this kid play alot and he just doesnt impress me that much. Is he a good player? Absolutely. But the dude is a turnover machine (4.1pg) his jump shot needs work, I mean hes shooting 47% from the field which is good, but IMO for the number one pick in the draft I would like to see a higher %. I understand that in the NBA the last few years has been all about finding the next great pg. Which there are alot in the NBA. But when you look at the past NBA champs the pg wasnt even close to being the best player on the team. Tony Parker, Chuancey Billups were good, not great. Im not sayin..Im just sayin.

I don't know that Wall's

I don't know that Wall's jump shot would be the first thing I would criticize about him, I do agree with you about the turnovers though, but that will likely improve over time. When you compare Wall to the other Calipari "superstar" pg products (Evans and Rose), his jump shot is MUCH better. He also looks to be a better at distributing the ball than either Rose or Evans. Seeing as Rose was the RoY and it looks like Evans is going to get the award too, I would say that Wall is going to be a very successful pg. I don't know if he deserves this Lebron-esque praise that he is getting, but he definitely looks like a future star in the NBA

well a hybrid guard is a

well a hybrid guard is a great way to put up points and draw fouls etc etc
but in a league where we have 6'8 guards (Carmelo, Lebron, Rudy, Durant, Granger) that can get there shots off so easily
GMs are looking for more mismatches to try to combat those once-in-a-generation
type players
hybrid guards like Tyreke Evans, Derrick Rose, etc. have been called Mini-Lebrons
are like the NBA version of the Wild-Cat Offense

He's just scratching the

He's just scratching the surface of his skills. He's a good passer even though he is turnover prone, has a real good mid-range game even though he lacks range, and he is a dominant player in transition. He's as physically gifted as any PG out there right now, up on par with a guy like Derrick Rose. All of his strengths and weaknesses are very similar to Dwyane Wade's, especially when Wade was in college. But Wade was a Jr. when he declared, so Wall may have even more upside than him. That's why I don't think he's overrated. He's not as good in half-court as he needs to be, but he plays aggressive and tenacious, has a killer instinct, and will probably develop into one of the top perimeter defenders in the NBA. Add that too a great offensive talent, and you have why John Wall has been getting hyped so much. I truly think he'll be a top 10 player at least in his prime.

With all that said, I do think he's going to have some growing pains in his rookie year similar to Brandon Jennings, but I think he'll finish strong and then be a dominant force in his 2nd season.

Wall

He needs too fix his offense he's not really a natural scorer.. sometimes he jumps to take a contested shot and then trys to throw it too a teamate and throws it away...but still has incredible physical skills... still he is the best player in college game... besides sherron collins

A little! No one even talks

A little! No one even talks about Patrick Patterson anymore. And honestly, the offense flows through DeMarcus Cousins.......But Wall will still be a stud in the NBA.

I'm not so sure. Wall

I'm not so sure. Wall garner's all of the intention, but Cousins to me is the better college player. I would rather have Cousins and Patterson than Patterson and Wall. Only in college though.

granger,durant melo and

granger, durant melo and lebron are fowards...
im not sure if 47percent from the field for a number one pick who is a guard is high or low but my guess is that it is high...does anyone else know?

as far as patterson dhamp2 its not really a knock on him that no one talks about him much anymore its more of praise of cousins stepping it up and wall playing so well. patterson is still a very good player who will be a first round pick. as of now cousins is the better player out of all three. thats something i never thought would happen

Yeah 47% for a PG is pretty

Yeah 47% for a PG is pretty solid

There are only a handful of good PGs that have a higher FG% than Wall & it isn't by much

Armon Johnson (Nevada)

Armon Johnson (Nevada) 49%

Demetri McCamey (Illinois) 49% if you count him as a PG

E'Twaun Moore (Purdue) 49%

Chris Wright (Georgetown) 50%

Scottie Reynolds (Nova) 48%

Those are pretty much the only PGs I know of that shoot a higher % than Wall

No it's not bad at all, it's

No it's not bad at all, it's actually probably above average for a perimeter player like Wall.
