Your Expansion Team
Mine would be:
Draft Picks:
Wesley Johnson - I know it looks like so far, I am just following the mock on this site but, I look at it like this. he is a scorer that can be productive at this level. Is he a first option guy?? Maybe but probably not right away. I put the team in his hands for a little while and see if he can be that kind of threat.
Sherron Collins/Scottie Reynolds - I cant decide between the 2. Both senior PGs who are running championship caliber teams. Both could be very solid backup PGs in the league. A valuable asset when starting a new team. Puts pressure on the starting PG to preform.
NBA Drafted Player:
Marcus Camby
Chris Douglas-Roberts
Eddy Curry
Steve Blake
Joe Alexander
Tyrus Thomas
Andray Blatche
Salim Stoudamire
Sasha Vujacic
Keith Bogans
Starting Lineup:
PG: Steve Blake
SG: CDR
SF: Wesley Johnson
PF: Tyrus Thomas
C: Andray Blatche
RP: Collins/Reynolds
RP: Marcus Camby
RP: Keith Bogans
RP: Eddy Curry
RP: Joe Alexander
Bench: Vujacic
Bench: Stoudamire
Coach: Avery Johnson
Location: Princeton, WV (hometown)
Colors: Forrest Green, Silver, Black
Team Name: Knights
This team would be horrible.... Enough said. I know they would be destined for the Lottery again next year. I think we could rival the Nets though....
My #3 pick would be Cousins. This team is going to be bad so I don't need a NBA ready player. Cousins can develop without any pressure and hopefully he would turn into a centerpiece.
My #34 pick would be Sherron Collins. I would be thrilled to get him this late. A seasoned PG from a winning team.
NBA rejects:
Eric Maynor 6'3 PG 1.3mil
Raja Bell 6'5 SG 5.3mil
Luther Head 6'3 SG .825mil
Andres Nocioni 6'7 SF 7.5mil
Travis Outlaw 6'9 PF 3.6mil
Earl Clark 6'10 F 1.8mil
Jamario Moon 6'8 F 3mil
Robin Lopez 7'0 C 1.8mil
Nazr Mohammed 6'10 C 6.5mil
Terrence Williams 6'6 G/F 2.1mil
Starting Line-up
Eric Maynor PG--- I have high hopes for big shot Maynor
Raja Bell SG--- He can teach the kids some defense
Andres Nocioni SF---Adds toughness to the team
Demarcus Cousins PF--- Will get all the minutes he can handle
Robin Lopez C--- Thrown in the fire to see what he can do
Bench
Collins PG
Head SG
Williams G/F
Clark-F
Outlaw-F
Moon-F
Mohammed-C
Coach- Jeff Van Gundy
Location- Vegas baby!
Team Name- Maloofs
Color--Green
This team would be a cellar dweller but with some good young prospects that would have to grow up quickly. Not a lot of veteran leadership to lean on. The team is way under the salary cap and it wouldn't be hard to lure players to come to Vegas.
This was fun....it makes you realize how hard starting an expansion team would be. I also wonder how many quality players would be left unprotected in hopes the team would pick up their contract, such as T-Mac.
Why do you think Camby would be left unprotected?
#3 pick : Hassan Whiteside - I honestly think he will defensive player of the year at least once and has the hard working attitude, aggressive play and coachability I love
#34 pick : Kalin Lucas - Will be a solid point guard in the NBA for awhile.
NBA players : Rodrique Beabouis , Raja Bell, Azubuike , TWill , Powe , Mcdyess , Morrow , Lindsey Hunter , Mbenga , Cartier Martin
Starters

Coach - Brian Shaw (I want to see what he can do as a coach)
City - Oakland
Name - Scrapers (if you don't what it is think this http://www.anniemayhem.com/blog%20pics/WildCar.jpg , it's a big thing out here in the bay)
Colors - Gold , blue and White
We'd be average our 1st year but once Hassan , Roddy and TWill break out were dangerous. Those 3 guys have major potential
Guys remember Gerald Wallace was a pickup from the Kings, now he's an AllStar..He was a 1st round pick from a veteran team..That the Kings didnt have room for and he's blossomed in Charlotte..Sometime u can get lucky and get talented players..That teams leave unprotected for different reasons..I can remember Rick Mahorn being surprised when Detroit left him unprotected..Mahorn refused to go to the expansion team..
#3 pick: DeMarcus Cousins - no high expectations for the team, Cousins gets all the playing time he can handle, should develope into something special...
#34 pick (based on the NBAdraft.net mock): Lance Stephenson - he and Cousins would form a great one-two punch for the future...
Starting Lineup:
PG S.Blake
SG L.Stephenson
SF K.Azubuike
PF D.Cousins
C A.Blatche
Bench:
E.Maynor

Draft Picks:
3rd pick: Wesley Johnson - I can't help but get intrigued with his skills and fundamentals... Yes, I know he's older than DeAndre Jordan and Greg Oden but his experience does bring a lot more... He's a pretty flexible player who can be almost like Scottie Pippen to my team...
34th pick: Lazar Hayward- I need a guard that can come off the bench and do a little bit of contributing... Lazar is a guy that I'd take since I know Xavier Henry will not drop that far... As far as I'm concerned, he's not such a bad pick in the second round...
ACQUISITIONS:
Marcus Williams
Ronnie Price
Mike Taylor
Gerald Green
Nick Young
Marvin Williams
DeJuan Blair
Tyrus Thomas
Nikoloz Tskitishvili
DeAndre Jordan
Brandan Wright
Kwame Brown
Starting Line Up:
G- Marcus Williams - I think he's still capable of doing things at the PG spot...
G- Gerald Green - On my team, he could get all the time he needs to develop into the next T-Mac...
C- DeAndre Jordan- A dominating beast once he gets the experience he needs... He's right up there at the borderline All_Star if he plays with my team...
F- Marvin Williams- A change of scenery could help Marvin turn his career from a role player to an All-Star...
F- Tyrus Thomas- Problems with Vinny? No worries... This team will pick him up without much expectations...LOL

We suck! Lottery bound for the next 5 seasons...!!!!
1st round pick: Demarcus Cousins(i need a low post presence as a scorer)
second round pick:Renardo Sidney (im hoping he can develop into an elite scorer because of his versatility)
Other Acquisitions:
Tony Allen (defensive specialist and has stepped up with Peirce out could be good on a bad team)
Joel Anthony (rebounder and defensive big man)
Demare Carroll (every team needs a scrapper)
Steve Novak ( the best shooter in the league my three point specialist)
Ryan Hollins (developed offensively and is a great shot blocker)
Rodrigu Beabois ( has lots of talent great defender and can develop into a better scorer)
Martell Webster (on and off scorer can put up 2 and then 2 the next night but hes solid defensibly too)
Patty Mills ( only 20 and hasd dominated the d league and Olympics heres his chance to play big minutes in the NBA)
Sergio Rodriguez (has the 11th highest per for points guard and has the 6h highest +- in the league can be a great playmaker on my team and makes his teammates better)
Tony Douglas ( scoring threat off the bench)
Depth Chart
C Hollins/Anthony
PF Cousins/Carroll/Sidney
SF Tony Allen/Steve Novak
SG Martell Webster/Tony Dougles
PG Sergio Rodriguez/Patty Mills/Rodrigu Beabois
Team Analysis: Lottery bound but will definitely improve soon.
#3 Pick - Wes Johnson
I will buy as many drafts as I can this year.
Late 1st rounder - Jerome Jordan
#33 Pick - Lance Stephenson aka Born Ready
Late 2nd rounder - Scottie Reynolds
4 picks in this years draft.
I will pick up the following 9 players that will be unprotected due to expansion.
Martell Webster
Rodrigu Beabois
Eric Maynor
Deandre Jordan
Andre Blatche
Brandon Bass
Joe Alexander
Linsey Hunter
Gortat
Coach: Marck Jackson
Las Vegas: Gladitors Blue and Gold
Starting Line Up:
PG: Maynor
SG: Webster
SF: W. Johnson
PF: Blatche
C: Gortat
Role Players:
Lance Stephenson - Back up SG pontential star in the making
Rodrigu Beabois - Back up PG 1 2 punch with Maynor
Jerome Jordan - There isn't that many dominate bigs in this league, take as many as I can get.
Deandre Jordan - Backing up Gortat.
Scottie Reynolds - Will be a good bench player with the ability to play on and off the ball as a 1 or 2 guard.
Brandon Bass - Solid back up at PF
Joe Alexander - Still hasn't got the chance to play to his full potential will have time at the 3 spot.
Linsey Hunter - Won't get much playing time, just there to hep mentor all the young players on this team.
The team is balance with nice backcourt and frontcourt rotation.
Back Court:
Maynor, Beabois, Stehenson, Webster, Reynolds, W. Johnson, Alexander, and Hunter
Front Court:
Blatche, Gortat, D. Jordan, J. Jordan, and Bass
It's a 5-10 year plan if you want a chance to win the championship, might as well keep the salary cap as low as possible and build a team with young players with lots of potential, hoping one of them becomes a star.
Trade my first round pick to OKC for their two first round picks and Thabo Sefolosha. I get a very good role player and defender, and OKC gets their big man they wanted (Cousins). I take Xavier Henry with the first and Gani Lawal after that. That's one guy based on potential, and a safe pick. I think Lawal can be solid for 10+ years, if not more. Henry will be kind of a project, but we are an expansion team, so the wait isnt bad.
Second round, I hope that Pondexter falls to my lap. That way, I have my 2,3,4 of the future.
Expansion draft:
-Ronny Turiaf : I love seeing this guy play. So unselfish, so much energy, and great defense. A great teammate.
-Marcus Williams - same reason as the Marcus Fizers. I believe he still has some upside left in his tank. He comes to a situation where he gets PT and won't have pressure to be a leading man. Can be the 3rd-4th option and also the main distributor.
-Kyle Lowry - I love his game. It's gonna be really close, and it will be decided in training camp who starts, but probably Lowry. He is pretty valuable, so if he's not available, then I probably roll with Lawson, or Acie Law.
-Mareese Speights - very good backup PF/C
-Brandon Bass - great option off the bench, buried in Orlando, will get his PT here
-Nicolas Batum - I hate to take an active player from Portland, but I love his game too much.
-DeAndre Jordan - sky high potential
-Shannon Brown - the guy that puts fans in my seat. Very important for basketball reasons AND financial reasons
-Earl Clark - versatile project that will have time to grow
-Donte Green : big wing, good defense, good offense. Mismatch problem.
Note: I assumed Tyrus Thomas wouldn't be available, same to Blatche/McGee because I'm sure the Wiz wont deem Arenas "untouchable" haha. Sorry, I know I say some generic things like "I love his game" but I didn't wanna go to in depth. I also went over the 12 player roster, my bad.
Depth Chart:
PG - 1. Lowry (30 min/game) 2. Marcus Williams (20 min/game)
It goes over 48, but I might play Lowry at the 2 a little bit depending. I know 2 PGs is shallow, but I don't mind playing someone like Shannon Brown, or even Clark (as a point forward) at the 1.
SG - 1. Xavier Henry (25-30 min / game) 2. Sefolosha (25 min / game) 3. Shannon Brown (15 min / game)
Sefolosha will run at the 3 as well, allowing Brown to crack the rotation.
SF - This will have to be a training camp battle between Batum, Donte Green, and Pondexter. I wanna get Pondexter at least 20 min / game though for experience. Donte Can play 4 as well, and Batum can play 2.
PF - Lawal (25-30 minutes / game), Bass (20 min / game), Clark (5 - 10 min/game)
I wanna develop Clark before I give him more PT. I think Lawal is more NBA ready than him, and I want him to learn from experience (kinda like Derozan in Toronto).
C - Turiaf and Jordan will split time. I can also go small, and play any of my 4s here, except maybe Clark(Clark can play anywhere from 1-4 I think, so his PT will be spread throughout)
My math probably doesn't add up, but it's a very rough estimate.
The team is very young, and will have growing pains. Maybe playoffs in 3-5 years (3 if im in the East, 5 if im in the west)
I think St.Louis would be a nice place to go. As far as my knowledge (I'm Canadian, hold the jokes for later), I don't think there is a ball team in Missouri, so I think St.Louis would be a nice big market with no competition. I was thinking Baltimore, but Maryland has the Wizards (sorry if my geography is off).
Team name - St. Louis Assassins (black, white, grey - dark colors for the whole assassins thing, white for alternates)
Coach - Probably JVG because my team will be based on defense.
Also, our mascot would be a ninja
The rules you set are not how the expansion team works.
1) The expansion team should get the 4th pick of the draft in the 1st round
2) The expansion team should get the first pick of the 2nd round (32nd).
3) The expansion draft would allow all teams to protect 8 players, but there are more rules
a) the player must have a contract with the team for 2010/2011 season (meaning Camby would not qualify)
b) if the player is a restricted FA, then after the expansion draft, the player would become and unrestricted FA (meaning he won't necessary join the expansion team, e.g. CDR)
4) The expansion team would have a 50% salary cap. The current projection is 53mil which means the expansion team would operate with only 26.5 mil for the first year. (75% the 2nd year, 100% for 3rd year).
There are certainly more rules that I can't remember off the top of my head.
Taking the salary cap into account - Eddy Curry would not be someone you want to add.
Rodrique Beabouis is too young and cheap that Dallas wouldn't leave him unprotected.
With all that said, it looks to be a very difficult task if we follow the real rules.
I just found the official rules when the bobcats made their expansion.
A. Player Selection
* The Bobcats would select a minimum of 14 players who are under contract or restricted free agents for the 2004–05 season.
* The Bobcats may select no more than one player from each team.
* The Bobcats could only select players that were left unprotected by an NBA team.
* Each of the 29 NBA teams might protect a maximum of eight players on its roster who were under contract or were restricted free agents at the conclusion of the 2003–04 season.
* Each of the 29 NBA teams would designate the players on its roster who were eligible for selection by the Bobcats.
* Each of the 29 NBA teams must have designated at least one player on its roster to be eligible for selection by the Bobcats, even if the team did not have eight players under contract or as restricted free agents for the 2004–05 season.
* Any player under contract selected by the Bobcats would immediately be placed on the Bobcats roster.
* Any eligible restricted free agent selected by the Bobcats would immediately become an unrestricted free agent.
* Unrestricted free agents were not eligible to be protected nor were they eligible to be selected by the Bobcats.
B. Pre-Expansion Draft Trades
* Teams would be permitted to enter into pre-Expansion Draft trades in which Charlotte agrees to select or not select certain unprotected players.
C. Salary Cap
* Charlotte would be permitted to select players in the Expansion Draft without regard to the Salary Cap.
* Charlotte would have a Salary Cap in its first season equal to 66% of the Salary Cap applicable to the rest of the league and a Salary Cap in its second season equal to 75% of the Salary Cap applicable to the rest of the league.
* Charlotte would be permitted to sign any restricted free agent it selects in the Expansion Draft using the same “Bird,” “Early Bird” or “Non-Bird” Exception that the player’s prior team would have had.
* Compensation paid to a selected player under a contract protected for lack of skill would be excluded from Charlotte’s Team Salary if the player’s contract is terminated (via the waiver procedure) prior to the start of the 2004–05 season.
* A team with a Team Salary above the Salary Cap would receive a Trade Exception to replace a player (other than a restricted free agent) selected from its unprotected list.
Draft Picks: DeMarcus Cousins and James Anderson
NBA Players:
Jordan Farmar
Nicolas Batum
DeMarre Carroll
Wayne Ellington
Leon Powe
JJ Hickson
Anthony Morrow
Ronny Turiaf
Rodrique Beaubois
Jeff Teague
Jeff Foster
Martell Webster
Starters:
PG: Jeff Teague
SG: Anthony Morrow
SF: Martell Webster
PF: DeMarcus Cousins
C: Jeff Foster
This sounds like a fun idea.
I'd draft DeMarcus Cousins with my first pick, and as much as I hate him. Grevis Vazquez and hope his potential comes through....
My team:
Patty Mills (live in the Bay Area, i've seen him play, and I know what he can do)
Kelenna Azibuke
Anthony Morrow (3pt specialist, good role player)
Brad Miller
Anthony Carter (before Ty Lawson, dude was consistent, and solid as a rock)
Leon Powe
Nick Young (hope with freedom he can cash in on the hype)
Earl Clark
Robin Lopez
Coby Karl
Starting 5:
PG-Patty Mills (i'm gonna run all the time, so he's perfect for me)
SG-Nick Young
SF-Kelenna Azibuke
PF-DeMarcus Cousins
C-Robin Lopez
6th-Anthony Morrow/Brad Miller
.
Team Location-Honolulu, HI (back to my Hawaiian roots)
Name- Samurai
Colors-Forest Green,Grey
Coach- either Mike D'Antoni or Rick Carlisle
Here's my vision: I trade somehow for Kevin Love, and we run, run, run. Eventually he lines up at the 4 and I move DeMarcus to the 5. If Love grabs a board, Young/Morrow/Buke sprint for the hoop. Young team, probably a bottom dweller for a little while, but loads of potential.
4th pick: Hassan Whiteside - This kid seems to have the best combination of talent, youth, character behind Wall and Turner. I bet he would come out simply because he's an "old" freshman and almost a lock as a top 10 pick in 2010.
Backup option: DeMarcus Cousins - he seems to have character issue aka Z-Bo, but he got so much talent.
32nd pick: Jarvis Varnado - a great shot blocker
Backup option: I would trade down for 2 later picks and try to draft Shermadini (7-ft with decent potential to be a solid backup big man) and Macvan (great motor and a winner, see him as a young Scola) and let them develop oversea.
Expansion:
John Salmon - decent swingman with 1 year left on the deal and can be used as a trading chip to contender for late 1st round pick (Bulls wanna be rid of his contract to free up cap)
Martell Webster - young swingman with good potential and a decent contract (Batum and Fernandez would be protected over him)
Nenad Krstic - decent big man with 1 year left on the deal and can be used as a trading chip to contender for late 1st round pick (Thunder would protect Ibaka and BJ Mullen over him)
Kris Humphies - decent backup big man that NJ wouldn't care about. Also 1 year left that can be valuable at trade deadline.
Sam Young - decent backup swingman that can play D with a minimum contract
Ronnie Price - spark plug type of combo guard, good for a backup. Also 1 year left that can be valuable at trade deadline.
Bill Walker - great athleticism, potential is still there as a backup swingman with small contract.
Free Agents:
Steve Blake - decent start PG that can provide stability at the point, leadership, decent shooting, decent defense
Amir Johnson - 22 years old energy big man that still have a lot of upside
Marcus Williams - if stay in shape, can be a decent 2nd/3rd PG that can run a team (no D)
Rodney Carney - decent swingman off the bench
Roster:
Steve Blake / Ronnie Price / Marcus Williams
John Salmon / Rodney Carney / Bill Walker
Martell Webster / Sam Young
Amir Johnson / Jarvis Varnado / Kris Humphries
Nenad Krstic / Hassan Whiteside
The point is to have a decent team that wouldn't be a big embarrassment (aka the Nets) while having almost no guaranteed contract after the season. Only Hassan Whiteside would be the core, let him develop behind Amir Johnson and Nenad Krstic. Everyone would be on the block for future 1st round picks and the team would be built through future drafts.
Coach: Kevin McHale (he's one of the worst GM of all time, but he did well as a coach and develop young talent. One of the best big man that can help Whiteside develop his post skills).
Location: Vancouver (a 2nd team in Canada)
Colors: Blue, White, Black

Team- Bullets
@realGM... I wasnt trying to follow the rules exactly. Thank you for clearing that up but I was just trying to make it as simple as possible while still having it be challenging...
I love this topic.....Here is my team
4th Pick- Trade this pick to Memphis for their 12 and 27 picks
12th pick- Xavier Henry- A solid SG/SF prospect, has the potential to be an all star in the league for years to come and a young building block for my team
27th pick- Charles Garcia- a hybrid 3/4 who can play both positions, put the ball on the floor and can finish around the basket
32nd Pick- Renardo Sidney- a scoring 4 man who can play inside and out. Will use the year the develop but is a nice building block to have especially if he develops and matures
Expansion Draft-
PG: DJ Augustin- will get his chance to shine as the starting PG, will learn the position under 1 of the greats- Mark Jackson n great leaders- Eric Snow
SG: Terrance Williams- my utility/do everything player, will play 3 positions for me and be the leader out there
PF: Joe Alexander- better suited for the power forward position, will get a chance to show everyone he has skills
C: DeAndre Jordan- all the talent in the world. Just needs a chance to prove himself
SF: Jonathan Bender- love the comeback story, will have to fight for minutes but need his outside shooting
C: Eddy Curry- a 2nd chance, has the ability to be 1 of my top scorers but he has to get in shape and come to camp ready
PF: Jon Brockman- an absolute beast, doesn't back down, goes 100% and fights for every rebound
PG: Will Conroy- bulldog PG, knows how to run a team but can he keep the TO's down and attitude in check?
SG: Coby Karl- sweeting shooting combo guard, will need his shooting and leadership off the bench
3 D League Players
Marcus Williams- (Arizona)- will get a chance to be called up and make an impact playing 3 positions
Matt Bouldin- needs to refine his point guard skills and learn how to run a team
Pops Mensah Bonsu- high energy 4 who has crazy athletic ability and the same motor as Brockman
Rotation
PG- Augustin/Conroy/Williams
SG- Henry/Williams/ Karl
SF- Williams/Garcia/Bender
PF- Alexander/Sidney/Brockman
C- Jordan/Curry
Honestly, we'll be 1 of the worst teams in the NBA, if not the worst BUT we'll be exciting to watch and we have some young players to build around and well have a good pick in the lottery and we'll have lots of cap room. We match up with the Nets though and maybe the T Wolves

The only guy you would get is Larry Hughes, and Iverson would have to be signed. And how do you plan on getting Drummond and Anthony Davis?

OK I tried to get a bunch of guys who weren't top 8 on their teams in minutes. It was pretty tough and their wasn't too much talent...also can't think of any FA's to sign so they aren't included.

Let me explain this one more time, go to everysingle teams roster, and pretend that you're the Gm of that team, and if you were the GM of the Timberwolves, choose 8 or your 12 players that you would PROTECT. Meaning that an expansion team cannot have that player. Kevin Love is the best player on that team, he will be the first player they protect, so an expansion team can't have him, same for Joe Johnson, and young bigs like McGee also won't be avalible. Chalmers also won't be abalible, he's cheap and servicable. Jordan is one of the top 5players on the Clippers, meaning he would also be protected.
You won't be a contender right out of the gate, the rules don't make it so that a brand new team wins a tittle before the Cavs, lol. So none of the players you have won't be avalible.
The key to draftign an expansion team, is to pick young guys that haven't proven themselves at all, and guys that will play hard. Like the Bobcats got with Gerald Wallace. Wallace averaged 1 point a game in garbage minutes the season before he was picked up by the Bobcats. So you will only be able to pick scrubs. Here is an example.
Richard Jefferson- This may be a bit of a stretch, but I think the Spurs would protect Danny Green, Tiago Splitter, Gary Neal, and Leanord over him, adn if not, I would take one of the aforementioned players.
James Jones- I'm assuming that the Heat would keep their big in Joel Anthony, and keep Mike Miller over him, so Jones has to go, but he would get a well deserved chance to show he can be a starter in this league.
Shane Battier- He also goes in this scenario, assuming that the Heat protect The Big three, Cole, Chalmers, Haslem, Miller, and Anthony.
Reggie Williams- He's on the Bobcats, and hasn't even played a minute this year, and I think he can give me some solid scoring in limited minutes.
Josh Selby- Assuming they take Darrell Arthur and Pondexter over him, than he'll be the odd man out, he gives you some potential for the future and some youth.
Derrick Character- Just looking for a young big, he would be availible.
Travis Leslie- He'll be a guy you can develop, and he'll be there.
Trey Thompkins- Need some more bigs, a young guy that has some height, can give you some good minutes.
Luke Babbit- A jumpshooting 6-9 foward, he may develop, but just trying to find a diamond in the rough
Earl Clark- An athletic big, young, thought that he would breakout and be a solid contributor for the Suns, but I guess not.
Jodie Meeks- This seems like a stretch, but as long as the 76ers take Vucevic(they will) and Thadeous Young OR Elton Bradn, Meeks would be availible.
Jeremy Tyler- I hope my Dubs keep him, but at this point they wouldn't, so he would be a good pickup.
Timothy Mosgov- The Nuggets are so loaded, someone including Mosgov and someone else would availible, and Mosgov has showed in limited time that in time he can be a servicable rookie.
That is an expansion Frachise, plus a top rookie, in which case I would take Harrison Barnes.
With or Without Barnes, this team sucks a$$, probably wouldn't even win 15 games, but expansion teams don't win right away, it takes time, the system is not so you win 50 games your first season, lol.
Do oversea players e.g Jonas Valanciunas need to be protected?
nope...no need to protect anyone without a contract
"#3 pick : Hassan Whiteside - I honestly think he will defensive player of the year at least once and has the hard working attitude, aggressive play and coachability I love"
0_o
If there are some players you think would be protected you may be right but here goes anyways
- Jonny Flynn-C.J Watson-Keyon Dooling
- John Salmons-Rudy Fernandez-Randy Foye
- Shane Batter-Josh Howard-Ersan Ilyasova
- Anthony Randolph-Yi Jianlian-Craig Smith
- Nazr Mohammed-Hamed Haddadi-Earl Barron

^For the last frickin time, If you were running the T-Wolves or Nuggets, would you say "Oh, let's just let Kevin Love go, who cares if we just signed him to an extension, it'd be great to just lose him for nothing!"
In an expansion franchise you WILL NOT GET ANY GOOD PLAYERS! Why would they just give you the championship for free? Why do you think the Bobcats have been so bad, and the Raptors and Grizz also. It's been 15 years since they've been in the league, and only Vince Carter's Raps got past the second round I think, but both of those teams have basically sucked for as long as they've existed.
Read this and my previous post 398,724 times, and them make your expansion Franchise.

Here is a little fun thing to do.. Make your own expansion team. 12 players, 1 coach, 1 location. The way this works is, when a team is added, they get a draft pick, probably 3-5, and they get to choose players off the rest of the teams in the league.. Now, the other 30 teams will mark 8 players "untouchable" which means you cant have them. Use your own judgement as far as who would be "untouchable." Example: You arent going to get a top notch player like CP3 or LBJ. not even a big time role player like Lamar Odom or Al Harrington. That basically leaves you with the bottom 5-7 players on each team. Also, lets say that you have the 3rd pick in the draft and you have missed on Wall and Turner.
So basically, Make a team of the bottom 5-7 players from NBA teams, the 3rd pick in the draft (not Wall or Turner), also, the 34th pick in draft and any FAs you want. 12 players, 1 head coach, 1 location. How about also, a name and colors. If you want, you can name your arena... Just have fun with it.
The location can be anywhere in North America you want. Hometown, city with an NBA team already, whatever.
