Greg Monroe- Should be Top 5 pick, IMO

I don't see how a guy with as much skill/physical ability is not a lock to be top 5. Everytime i've seen the kid play i've been amazed, yet he can't even crack most mock top 10s...

He can pass extremely well for a big man, has the physical tools, and he seems like a good kid- am i missing something?

i agree completely and have been saying this for a while now. once he does well in the tournament he will.

wall, turner, johnson, cousins, and monroe should be the top 5.

How good is Monroe?

How good is Monroe? Well The Grizzlies wanted to draft him with the number 2 pick last summer if he had came out..I would love to see him work on his facing the basket game & get a little stronger..I don't expect him to last past the top 5...

Teams are scared of him

Teams are scared of him because of his lack of athleticism, rebounding, and defense. But he can be a "Pau Gasol meets Lamarcus Aldridge" type, so yes, I'd take him in top 10 at the absolute least.

Yea he's rebounded well this

Yea he's rebounded well this season...But didn't last year. That was a small cause for concern. But they also bring up his defense in his weakness section.

top 10 no doubt but top 5

top 10 no doubt but top 5 could be a stretch because of the potential guys after Wall, Turner, and some others

i dont think his last year

i dont think his last year rebounding was much of a concern because monroes freshman averages in that department was on par with other good georgetown big men. the concern was that they thought he could rebound better which isnt much of a real concern

Dude can even shoot the 3! I

Dude can even shoot the 3! I really, really like his game....If he is not athletic you go find me another 6-11 big guy that could run a fast break and finish...Vertically, he doesn't have great bounce, but he has decent-good bounce, definitely more than Cousins

I agree with everybody

I agree with everybody so far. He may slip in the actual draft, but he will be a top 10 player from this draft. My best comparison is Andrew Bogut instead of Pau Gasol. Bogut may be the most underrated player in the game right now, and a top 3 big man passer. Monroe will have to work and improve a lot to get to Gasol's level offensively, but he has the tools to get there...

Greg Monroe is not a better

Greg Monroe is not a better athlete than Derrick Favors....Let's be serious.

It depends on how you define

It depends on how you define athleticism. I guarantee you that Favors could not pull off the spin moves Monroe has and either finish or drop off a pass reminiscent of Magic the way Monroe has. That isn't just skills, but an incredible showing of athleticism to keep one's balance and coordination while remaining sure of what is going on around him. Can he jump like Favors? Probably not, but I saw him swat Johnson when he went up for a dunk. He got home jobbed on the foul call, but that doesn't take away from the fact that he had the quick little hop. He probably can't tear down a rim like others, but Sports Center highlights don't count for more. The guy runs flat-footed, but isn't slow and does run the floor well when the Hoyas do so when the opportunity presents itself. He steps out on pick-and-rolls effectively. I think he is as enjoyable a player to watch as there is in college basketball right now, and just don't see where he wouldn't go above some of the other named bandied about for the top ten. He not only has All-Star potential, but because of his unique abilities and skills given his size has a high floor. He won't be a bust.

Greg Monroe is not as

Greg Monroe is not as athletic as Derrick Favors. He is more skilled yes, but the moves he has down low have to do with his footwork. Not athleticism. For example, Big Baby Davis has better footwork than Favors too, but lets not mistake Davis for being a better athlete than Favors.

Iggy

Iggy is 100% right. There is no way in hell Monroe is a better athlete than Favors.

Favors is stronger. quicker, faster, and a better leaper.

It's not like you lose

It's not like you lose athleticism from HS to college, if anything you get better athletically because of a more intense weight training regimen. But Favors is a better athlete than Monroe is. No doubt about it.

thats youre opinion. and you

thats youre opinion. and you do lose it sometimes when you gain muscle/weight or if youre athletic ability was overhyped like youre skills then you get to college and people see the real player and youre true athletic ability

He's the same athlete he's

He's the same athlete he's always been...He's not produced that high because he doesn't have good footwork of moves down low.

He literally is nothing like

He literally is nothing like Josh Smith at all....That has always been a horrible comparison by people who couldn't have watched him play. I can see why he'd be compared to Amare Stoudemire, even though Chris Wilcox is the more accurate comparison to me.
