What's the real draw on Favors???

Derrick Favors is a good player that will have a NBA career, but all this talk that he was #2 lock and is for sure a top 5 seems crazy. He's 6'8" and he's no Amare Stoudamire. The league is full of athletic PF who are that size, there isn't something special to me. His play supports that as well.

i highly doubt it jayk....

i highly doubt it jayk.... he only averaged 13/8 as a rookie with a decent amount of minutes (31). people are drawn to favors because of his freak size and athletic ability.... i see more of a josh smith type player than amare stoudemire

I quite honestly see Favors

I quite honestly see Favors as a Chris Wilcox type player in the NBA. I think he's not going to be a real polished player, but he'll somehow find the way to score down low and from mid-range at times. He's also got the strong frame and great athleticism Wilcox has.

Favors is 6'10 not 6'8 and

Favors is 6'10 not 6'8 and has incredibly long arms. He definitely has the size to be a PF in the NBA. Not sure where you got he was 6'8. He is already an outstanding rebounder and shot blocker but he needs to work on his jump shot and footwork. He is still only 18 years old and will be an outstanding pro in the future.

Favors is the real deal

Favors is a top 5 player in this draft. his athletism and his ability to rebound and finish is great...Derek Favors will have an amazing March cause that is when it really matters...like december in the NFL....he will continue the excellence as a ACC Powerfoward such as

Len Bias
Antwan Jamison
Tyler Hansborough
Tim Duncan
Chris Bosh
Christian Laetnar
Rasheed Wallace
Elton Brand
..get ready to put Derrick Favors on this list

read deal??

Favors is no 6'10". He's 6''8", no matter what they list him at. As I said, not that he won't be a solid NBA player, but where/what is his high skill area. I think the Josh Smith analogy is a good one. Josh is much more 3is in his ability to put the ball on the floor, but athletic undersized 4s who can run and rebound. It took Josh a while to figure all that out. I believe that Favors size and lack a a defineable skill will hurt him in the NBA. Lottery yes, top 5, don't see that.

his ability to finish isnt

his ability to finish isnt great. what games have you been watching?. and he isnt a freak athlete. he has long arms but if you watch he doesnt jump out the building like josh or amare. and no one knows if he's 6'8, 9, or 10 yet. chances are good hes a inch shorter then 6'10 since most players end up being shorter but thats not a sure thing either. and amare averaging 30 and 15 isnt realistic. it would probably be a lil harder for him in college because teams can play more zones which limits a player who scores by just dunks and close to the basket plays. and you disrespect those guys ont he list by saying favors will be added. ive been hearing this same talk all year" wait till after 5 games" then 10 then mid season then conference play. now tournament. then after he doesnt dominate then it will be wait till summer leauge. and thats really truely disrespectful to put him near any list containing len bias. he isnt close to college player of the year. he wont even make first nor second team all conference and he isnt the best freshman in the nation by far. all i ever hear is excuses. yes hes good and has potential but many of ya'll overrate him. hes only 18 well so is alot of freshmen and many fresmen in the past were 18 and even 17. that means hes young and can get better in the future. he isnt close to being dominate now and liek i said in the beginning of the year he is raw on offense. he needs others to create offensive opportunities for him. his jumper is broke and he doesnt go through people. he has long arms is a very good rebounding and a pretty good defender. hes the second option on offense on that team. its time some of ya'll need to accept that fact

David Lee

He can be a David Lee type hustle player and add the jump shot later

down the road a stretch 4, and maybe more shot blocking

his length exaggerates his athleticism

I have seen Derrick Favors

I have seen Derrick Favors and Gani Lawal stand next to each other and Favors was at least an inch taller than Lawal. Lawal measured in at 6'9 with shoes at the NBA combine last year. No way Favors is 6'8. Even his profile on this site has him listed as 10/10 in size. He is raw...I feel like his jumpshot has gotten worse because he was nailing jumpshots in high school. He still has a nice stoke and with practice he could be a very good mid range shooter. He is more athletic than people think....they think just because he has long arms he can't jump high and that is false. I think that is true with Demarcus Cousins but not Favors.

i think ill wait till the

i think ill wait till the combine. people have always said they stood next to this guy or this guy stood next to that guy. either way it doesnt matter since his arms are so long and that makes up for his height. not sure why people always talk about height when a player doesnt rebound or block shots with there head. either way he will be a pf and wont be undersized

he can jumnp but he cant

he can jumnp but he cant jump like amare or josh smith. anyone who has watched him can see that. he never dunks on anyone ever. alot of guys look like great shooters in hs. he was alot bigger then everone he face so he didnt really have to make any jumpers wit good hands in his face defense. college tends to show people what they are reqally made of when they are used to dominating lil hs boys while being the biggest and one of the oldest on the court

I have seen Favors dunk on

I have seen Favors dunk on like 5 people this year.....He is extemely explosiveness...if he wasn't why is he so highly reguarded even though he is averaging around 11 and 9? Josh Smith is a horrible comparison because they have totally different games.
