devin downey
Legit talent, but it is hard to believe there are a lot of teams desiring to draft a 5'8 or 5'9 scorer. I don't doubt the talent, but if he was to make it he will probably have to get into the back door of the NBA like Will Bynum after a few good summer leagues and years in Europe.
I think downey will find a place in professional basketball somewhere...whether he decides to take a role player position on an NBA team or a more expansive role overseas is his choice. He can provide a spark off an NBA bench, for sure a great second and third quarter player, however when the 4th quarter comes around he becomes a defensive liability. With so many big guards playing the point in the NBA now he will be over matched by other guys superior size. Think marcus thorton minus a couple inches :)
Even Steve Logan got drafted in the top of the 2nd round, I have no doubt Downey will get drafted after outplaying John Wall... they had every player try to cover him! even Demarcus Cousins, who actually did the best at guarding him. I say Downey will be the surprise of next years draft, we have plenty of guys that are successful at that size like Aaron Brooks who seems to be more than holding his own in the NBA.
He's very similar to Sundiata Gaines. That is the best comparison..Aaron Brooks is quicker and a much better shooter than Downey. He is a beastly scorer, but he's not a true PG. He's much better suited for an overseas career, because he's going to be a defensive liability in the NBA and I have doubts about him being the offensive player he is in college in the NBA. I love Downey, but he'd have to take a very tough road to be in the NBA.
do you think hes a legit prospect
