St. Pats vs. St. Benedicts

Just attended the saint pats saint b's game and thought id give my scouting reports for the game, considering how much talent took the court tonight. Thye game was well played overall, with some inconsisent reffing and weird stuff happening with the clocks. Benedicts won 65-64 on Kabongo's lay in w/ 2.5 secconds left. Here are a few notes about the games top performers:

Kyrie Irving: Was always in control and shoed a very high bball iq. Made very nice passes in transition, and one unbelievable one off a spin in the half court, played the passing lanes, and used a variety of crosses, hesitations, and jump stops to get to the rim at will in the first quarter missing a few tough shots but converting most opprotunities. Reffs were letting alot of contact go in the first half and b's adjusted. Their zon in the seccond and third quater slowed irving down alot, and sent his whole team on an offensive dry spell. He kept jump stopping into a st. b's big and then either passing it out to an open teamate, unfortunatley neither team could hit a jumper, or bringing it down and having it slapped away 3-4 times. He flahed his athleticism with two crazy bloks and one nice dunk attempt where st. benedicts players pretty much tacled hm to keep him frm making it. Reffs called more touch fouls from halfway through the third quarter in, and Irving took advantage. Dominated the third quarter by going hard to the rim and getting fouled. THe only knock would be outside shooting, where i believe he was either 1-5 or 1-6.

Myk Kabongo: Showed the quicknes and ball handling abilities that hes known for, but the reffs definetly got in his head. At the start of the third quarter he was looking for calls every time he touched the rock. Didn't show an excess f court vision, and seemed to miss alot of of open players on the fast break, relying on his speed rather than teamwork to advance the ball. Got to the rim ad showed slithey agility when attacking one or two defenders on the break, but struggled to do the same in the half cout. Seemed to not realy undersand how to take angles to the rim. Every time he touched the ball the St. Benedicts fans would yell for him to take it, so maybe he usually penetrates well. In this game, however, he really stuggled getting by even he slowest St. Pats gaurds. Hit he game winning lay up and had a few other nice moments, but i think irving outplayed him.

Others: St. Benedict's #30: Big and agile. Trucked his way down te lane to start the scoring and had a stellar first half. Great euro step to finnish afast break near the end of the first half. Had no troubble getting past the skinnier St. Pats big me at will. Tried to dunk everything, he was sucessful a few times, and got fouled the rest. Looked to be about 6-7, 6-8 so probly a post man with some face up game in colledge. Maybe he becomes a wing but his jumper looked BAD in warmups
#22 and #5 for St. b's as well as #32 for St. pats played well, never got out of control, showed good skills, and scored when their teams needed them to.

I would have looked up these guys names, but i left the program in my buddies car. Gilchrist did not play and i did not see him on thest. pats bech either, so maybe his knee is still bothering him or maybe he wa sick or something.

gilchrist

GIlchrist did not play in this one and, to my knoledge, he was not even in attendance. Unitl u brought it up, i thought kabongo was a senior too. Most of the st. benedicts fans were upset about what he was doing so he was probly having an off night. Like i said they were letting the st. pats gaurds hang all over him in the first three quarters so he didn't really have alot of time to evaluate what he was seeing. Maybe he felt the pressure of the game and thought he had to do it all himself, idk. I thought both him and irving were seniors so mavbe irving didnt play as spectacularly as i thought. Have u seen gilchrist play before. Is he as good as everyone says? I was pretty bummed when i found out that he wasn't playing.
