realistic moves the Knicks can make this offseason

I've been thinking about possibe moves the Knicks could make this offseason.

There are no very desirable PG's available via free agency this season so we must focus on acquiring one in the weakest PG draft in a while.

2010 Draft:

We have 2 second rounders and late first round playoff contenders usually do not covet their picks.
Ideally we could buy a late 1st rounder and hope Willie Warren slips or offer sveral picks in a trade to move up to the late teens or early 20's.

If Warren is unattainable then our focus should turn to Sherron Collins, Scottie Reynolds, Lance Stephenson, Greivous Vasquez and/or Jon Scheyer in the 2nd round.

Knicks own roster:

re-sign David Lee. vastly underrated. heart and soul of team. still improving. 9.5 million

let all other FA's go

try to facilitate a buyout of Eddy Curry's contract. He may be inclined to do this because his career window is closing and another year on the bench may be all she wrote for Eddy.

If buyout is possible for Jeffries do it but not as urgent since he has shown he can be a solid defender in the rotation.

2010 free agency:

obviously target James/Wade/Johnson. If we cant get any of them no big deal. Wait for 2011.

sign Marcus Camby. bring him back to the city he loved and that loved him

sign Sean Williams. Let him learn from a great player like Camby with a similar build and skillset

sign Shaun Livingston to a roster spot for minimum. I know it seems like he's done but the Knicks need to fill their roster and old dreams die hard.

Realistic 2010 roster outcome

C- Camby/Williams
PF- Lee/Hill
SF- Chandler/Jeffries
SG- Gallinari/Stephenson
PG- Douglas/Reynolds/Livingston

If the Knicks get Lance...

If the Knicks get Lance... I'd piss on myself. I also like the Sean Williams signing. People dont understand the Knicks were last in the NBA in blocks for 3 seasons in a row thus us signing Sear Sene and Drafting Jordan Hill.

I also like how you bring up 2011. I think that's where we can do the most damage.

Sign N Trade

The knicks forecast:

Get Jarryd Bayless and Outlaw or Batum throw in Oden for Curry Hughes Robinson and a draft pick
Pick up: Pops Menshah Energy Guy Gerald Green Scoring guy for the bench Sean Williams
Contract: Wade, Lebron
Keep: Lee/Chandler/
Draft no PG , Second round pick up Garcia/Tyler Smith (PG/SG)
Resign Bender trade Harrington
Trade away rookies if you can or keep Hill as a back up
Trade Jeffreies and Duhon find any suitors

not to say signing lee is

not to say signing lee is unrealistic but signing him to 9.5 is. he wanted more then that last year and this year he's playing better while leading his team to more wins plus teams are gonna over pay like det did with villanauvia and ben gordan once they dont get the big names this summer

the knicks need to get rid

the knicks need to get rid of the following players holding back their potential:

F-Al Harrington
G-Larry Hughes
C-Eddy Curry
G-Nate Robinson
C-Jared Jeffries
G-Chris Duhon

quincy since the cap hold

quincy since the cap hold will be going down 9.5 million would be a higher % of a max contract than hes getting this year...

I think Lee could be had at

I think Lee could be had at 9.5 million. There were problems with negotiations last year because Walsh didnt really want to go above 8 mil. As Esperanza said, the cap will be much lower therefore payouts wont be so tremendous this year.

Huebond: alot of your forecasts were very whimsical.

No way we can steal Bayless and Oden from Portland

I've finally given up my great dreams for Gerald Green.

We probably wont get Wade or James much less both

Garcia's stock is rising and he'll be gone before we pick

Tyler Smith is in legal trouble and D'Antoni wont want a player with baggage

Duhon is a FA

If we could trade Jeffries it would have already been done

Lance Stephenson will move

Lance Stephenson will move up in the draft. Sherron Collins is a possibility. Also signing Will Bynum or C J Watson is not a bad move. Both guys to me can start and play a lot better than Duhon.

i don't think the knicks

i don't think the knicks will be able to retain lee unless they severly overpay him. he will be highly sought after, other teams realize what he can do for them. he scores without the ball and rebounds like a mad man.

Lee loves New York

And I think some of you forget that he wont be the only big name pf/c available. Such as Stoudemire,Boozer,Bosh, O'Neal. And there arent that many teams that will have significant cap space. You got New York, New Jersey, Miami, Chicago, and Houston. But Chicago and Houston will both only have about 10-12 mil in cap space. So I think Lee can be had for 8-9 mil by the Knicks, cause he knows what the Knicks are doing, I think he'll take a little less money in his first year so they can sign another big name guy.

what are you smoking? thats not even realistic. trading bayless, outlaw/batum, oden for the washed up guys you named. all those guys are better than most of the knicks roster.

they can if they do the birds right thing. ...reguardless trust there will be a team with money to sign him..miami can resign wade and get a another player(lebron ,bosh, boozer). same with cleveland. i know you wanna keep lee and it might happen but realistically teams will be able to offer him more
