NEW MOCK DRAFT + ANALYSIS FOR EACH PICK (lottery)
1. NJ - John Wall - Guard - No explanation needed
2.MIN - Evan Turner - Guard/Forward - Okay heres a tough one, they need a shooter, someone who fits the triangle and a big. They have three picks so I figure a shooter is easier too find than a triangle offense guy and with there earlier pick they can get maybe a Larry Sanders or Alabi. Turner can be used like Kobe in LA, a 2/3 that handles the ball just as much as the point, they don't have anyone other than Flynn and Sessions that can do that and Wes Johnson won't help that so picking Turner is the perfect fit.The triangle needs 3 ball handlers on the floot at once, they have 1 right now (2 if Flynn and Sessions are in) so getting another helps a lot
3.PHI - Derrick Favors - Power Forward - Elton Brand and Dalembert aren't working out for them and probably won't be there long (maybe Elton cause of his big ol contract). They don't have a true future up front other than Spreights and Young (who should be a 3). Favors works here.
4.IND - Dontas something something tuas (lol) - Forward/Center - Ok, player wise Wes is better but where does he fit there? No where thats where. Murphy is solid and Foster may not be back next year and Hibbert will be a nice rotation guy but nothing special. They could use a franchise big and Hansbrough is not the answer. A front court of Murphy, Hibbert, Psycho T and Donatas aint too shabby
5.GSW - Wesley Johnson - Small Forward - Azebuike has a player option and I doubt any player with his option would want to come back here, Maggette is having a fantastic year (lately he is 60% from the field...60!!!! Or close to it....) bu he is getting older and we need a 3 who can shoot and guard well and Wes fits everything we need. Yes I know him dropping is weird but look at Rubio last year
6.Detroit - Ed Davis - Power forward - I'll admit it, I'm not his biggest fan but stock is stock either way, and it's rising for him. Detroit needs help up front so they take a high potential guy... Simple yes?
7.Was - Aminu - Forward - Butler may be traded so they need a 3. Take the best one available and he'll be his replacement. Easy call.
8.Sac - Henry - Guard - He can't slip this far right? Well, with K mart's status up in the air and Udoka being a free agent they may need a backup 2/3 who can defend and shoot, he fits nicely here.
9.Utah - Pattrick Patterson - Power Forward - No more Boozer so they need a big who can get on the glass and get inside, why not pick him? Monroe also fits well here.
10.CHI - Avery Bradley - Guard - very tough call cause they need a big but losing Gordon has hurt them badly, there bigs were not a big issue last year so getting Rose a wing man is crucial and just like young Ellis he needs a big point guard (though Ellis doesn't need it anymore) so him and Rose is Baron/Ellis 2.0
11.LAC - Ebanks - Forward - They should just take high potential and risk it, there set everywhere but here cause Ricky Davis isn't stellar, Butler is a free agent that likely will go else where and Thornton is a good 6th man at best..honestly. There thin at the 3 so picking him should be a no brainer...
12.Memphis - Monroe - Power forward - Arthur (whenever he comes back..) is not the long term answer and may not even come back to them and Z bo is very good this year but shouldn't be a long term solution (see Maggette ^) so they should take there chance at another big who can stretch out the defense except he is a better passer than Z bo, he's like a stronger Diaw.
13.Utah - Willie Warren - Guard - Like Bradley he needs a big 1 so D Will fits with him and they need a shooter and an upgrade at the 2 so he fits well and can play right away off the bench as a spark plug on offense until he starts developing more.
14.N.O.- Cousins - Center - No I'm not looking at the front page, gosh.... But they just lost Armstrong for nothing (cap relief doesn't count...) and other than West and Okafor who are on the block they have no one else... Think about.. Posey is there back up 4 and Songaila plays center and power forward... They need help up front badly. If he doesn't declare Sanders gets picked here instead.
PLEASE I want feedback!
I like it man. Though, I see Turner and Wes Johnson going before your warriors pick. I see you guys getting Aminu, who is very good.
With your memphis pick, you mean Gay not warrick. Warrick plays for the bucks, lol.
i fixed it, and i'm fine with getting any of those 3 but i looked at this by team needs and what might happen in the offseason but thats your opinion :)
On Indiana I do not see them taking the International because they need a SG to compliment Granger. Hibbert will soon become a very good defender in the league and Psycho T and/or Murphy can make up for it offensively. The front court for Indiana has nice depth. They need to select a SG in the draft, and find a legitimate PG in FA. A lineup like Free Agent PG-Turner (I see them taking Turner)-Granger-Murphy-Hibbert with Psycho T first off the bench not that bad.
that's where im getting the donatas pick. I agree Turner is better for them but he may not be there. hibbert is nice but I dont see his rebounding ever getting good enough to start... unless they can take nellie off our hands............
They could always take Wesley Johnson who can also play the 2/3. Notrhing wrong with having 2 Grangers on the court, not like Granger is a liability defensively.
bring, two of the exact same type of player has never been a good idea. it sounds nice in theory but probably would not be a great idea
With Larry Bird, you never know. If he likes both of them working together he will do it.
No Aldrich in the lottery? I'm having a hard time seeing that. He's nothing too special, but he's going to be a solid C in this league, something that Detroit, Philly, Sac, and Washington all lack.
I'm thinking where he can go that fits well but I'm not going to go edit it all again ,he'll be in my next one. But when doing this I thought of how cousins is playing lately and how davis' stock is rising. aldrich hasnt been as good as advertised this year. is rebounds and blocks are good but i expected his offensive game to come a long better
I think his offensive numbers can be a little deceiving...that Kansas team has a lot of firepower, so he's not getting many touches, also his minutes aren't very high due to them constantly blowing out opponents...but from what I've seen his offensive game is pretty decent...
Aldrich has a nice post game including baby hooks, he finishes strong around the rim and he is a 75% free throw shooter. He has also drawn double teams lately which he won't face in the NBA where he will be a 3rd or 4th option when he is on the floor so I suspect he could put up more points per game in the pros. fast dan is right, he has only played about 26 minutes per game for those reasons he has listed and he still is averaging a double double, with almost 4 blocks per game. He has really improved his shot blocking this year and he does it with authority. I expect him to go in the 7-11 range depending on which teams have those picks.
I like what you have here with only two exceptions: 1) Cole Aldrich is a surefire top-10 pick and 2) Ed Davis shouldn't be that high. Based on what he's done so far this year and his potential once he adds a more refined offensive game and some weight, he falls somewhere around 9-12 IMO
Why would Bulls draft Bradley when they let go Gordon - a much better shooter than Bradley will ever be - just for the fact he's a twiner? I think they go Monroe, Sanders, or Cousins if none of them are available in the top 5 range.
well the bulls let ben go because they could afford him. they would have loved to keep him
