Whats the definition of being OUT OF CONTROL?

I've never really understood it from the point guard position.

I mean I think I have an idea, when I watch John Wall, Kemba Walker, Eric Bledsoe etc.

But Guards like Kalin Lucas, Sherron Collins turn the ball over as well but always look in control for the most part.

Can someone explain?

Just look at Corey Brewer

Just look at Corey Brewer and Jonny Flynn, that'll give you an idea of playing out of control.

destroys? i mean flynn is playign alright but how you figure with the numbers hes putting up that he destroys people? out of control is taking bad off balance layups or shoots or turning the ball over because youre doing too much. every single player that has ever played has done it and continues to do it from time to time

I think Westbrook plays out

I think Westbrook plays out of control often, but he's improving each game.

iverson

iverson is a big culprit of playing out of control LOL. maybe why he gets to the line so often.. Surprised by Ty Lawson's control.. hes moderatly turned the ball over. To be honest I thought he was going to be a little more out of control with the ball

+1 Tezo Especially if you

+1 Tezo
Especially if you watched him trying to do pretty passes at the beggining of the season, most of them were really out of control, the way he sometimes tries to jump over the whole team and dunk sometimes scares me, he might get injured like that

You know what's funny? The fact that he plays so out of control is why a lot of people think he's more athletic than Derrick Rose.

I wasn't even really

I wasn't even really pertaining to Flynn I rarely watch NBA unless it's Rondo or Bron on, but he does kill dudes
What i'm saying is that how can someone be so out of control but still be a very very good player such as John Wall??

ive never seen tim duncan

ive never seen tim duncan out of control more then once. both of my favorite players play out of control alot..micheal beasley and derrick rose. beasley tries to dribble to much sometimes and rose goes into the defense and throws up some kind of shot that makes me think what the hell. but hes yung and will get better at that. rondo is a young player i appreciate who plays under great control

Despite being a Westbrook

Despite being a Westbrook fan I totally agree with you. This is actually not the only case, when a player who plays out of control is considered in some way better than a player who plays under control. E.G. Billups, Billups plays like under complete control and he is really valuble for a team because of it, the stats don't show it though. Iverson has become the opposite lately

Well there are examples of players who did, the easiest example is AI, everyone agrees was a very very good player, despite playing out of control a lot.
But Wall is still young, I think many players play out of control at his age

damn, sorry for posting the same message twice

I think Rose plays with a lot of control and poise. To be how fast, quick and athletic he is... I think his game is very mature. He controls and handles all of those gifts very well for a player so young. He's only going to get better.

His maturity and control is

His maturity and control is probably what most draft busts lacked to become future stars

Out of control: Attempting

Out of control: Attempting passes, penetrations, shots (usually off balanced), or playing defense or offense with no discipline.

Got to admit though that

Got to admit though that Brewer has looked much better on his drives, but Flynn has been looking worse lately, like he's trying to do too much, I think he will come off the bench a few games from now if he continues this pattern, Sessions play has looked better all year.

1) when a player goes to the

1) when a player goes to the hole off balance and cant finish with contact
2) a wing player takes an isolation fadeaway or some off balance low percentage shot
3) a player dribbles with his head down and barrels into defenders without looking to draw double team and pass

play under control= pick and roll or catch and shoot

out of control usually off of reckless drives to the hoop

some players have great strength & body control when

they get to the hoop so they can
finish with contact

some can finish with contact others cant

But isn't it ok for some

But isn't it ok for some guys to be out of control just for the simple fact that they are so fast and quick?

a lot of times when people

a lot of times when people try to split double teams they are out of control. when someone is known as a slasher, they have to play out of control sometimes to get to the rim. it's hard to define when a player is going to be out of control because wade is rarely out of control but he splits double teams and drives all the time.

I always thought Arroyo

I always thought Arroyo played way out of control but this year he seems i guess more in "control" overseas must have helped him quite a bit.
