Jon Scheyer > Greivis Vasquez
the mocks that I have been looking at include Vasquez when I believe that Jon Scheyer is the better player.
Scheyer 19.7ppg 6.2apg
Vasquez 17.3ppg 6 apg
both have similar stats, but Scheyer shoots better from behind the arc and his assist to tournover ratio is the best in college basketball. Scheyer has a legit shot at ACC player of the year.
I know he prob wont be a PG, I can see him come off the bench and be a shooter. He is also very smart with the ball.
I obviously couldn't agree more. Scheyer is now being talked about as a possible National POY . He is getting better and better. His improvement is immense when compared with last season. Vasquez has regressed somewhat . However, there is a lot season left. Not that Vasquez is even in the same class as Scheyer is now. He could be a draft pick if his game picks up again. He probably was a better NBA prospect than Scheyer one year ago, but a lot has changed.
as a college player right now john has him..as a nba prospect i have to go with vasquez. vasquez has a better chance of being a point guard ont he next level but john will be a sg. but as far as right now in college john is the better college player
Jon is a legit top ten college player right now. 6-1 assist/to ratio? Shoots the lights out? Great. As a pro prospect he is iffy at best because of his speed, defensive liability against NBA guards and his strength/athleticism. Vasquez is (to me) the worst kind of college player. He is a me first PG who can't make the easy pass. He would rather try a flashy pass and fail than an easy onje and succeed. His penchant for hunting shots sometimes leaves me speechless. If he were playing for a legit top 25 team he wouldn't see more than 10-15 min a game as a pace changing backup. I'm over the intrigue he and potential he showed us a few years back.
Jon havent played nobody yet. So of course his stat are looking good. Remember just last year he was getting bruised by Ty Lawson which is in the NBA and have a jets for legs. I think by far Greg is a better college player than Jon, but i think Jon is in a better system. One question what have
Vasquez was a marginal NBA prospect to begin with. He was way overhyped, and will get beaten up the court by every small forward in the league, let alone the SG and PG he's supposed to match up on. So yes, Scheyer is better because he's the better player but neither are top NBA prospects.
Uconn Walker, Wisconsin Hughes, Gonzaga... those are nobody teams right? Did you know last year Jon had 24 and 20 on UNC and Lawson had 13 and 25 on Duke in the games they played last year. Plus Lawson ripped lots of guards new ass holes last year. He can play in the L imo of course he could be a start over seas but he can be a second round pick and be a 8- 12 the player of the bench.
IMO he is better prospect than Vasquez, because he is more consistent. People feel in love with Vasquez because he is 6'6" and handles the ball. He is not quick and is more of a defensive liability than Jon.
I think Jon will be a good team defender in the L, actually watch him play D one day and not just go off his appearance and see he can stay in front of his man.
big maryland fan. vasquez has the tools to be a better defender especially with all the effort is he puts out. he can be a back up pg in the nba. he has been on a legit top 2 team because his team has been a top 25 teram before. the reason he is a shoot first guard is because who the hell is he gonna pass it too?..i never miss a maryland game and i can tell you when he tries to pass like early in the season and other season, first then things go very wrong and maryland chances of winning go wayyyyy down. so he has to score. even with the talent around him he get sast. you dont lead the acc in ast if you dont have talent. hes shown hes a pretty good pg in college and on the olympic stage. he will go second round because of his ability and his height and because hes rough around the edges. nba scouts like him but he's so rough around the edges that they dont like him enough to go first round on him but agree that he has first round talent. hes proven against top teams year in and year ouyt what he can do. triple double against last years champs which included 30 plus. he steps up in big games more then just about any other player out there and you can go check that stats or game footage on that. when he is on his game he is one of the best in the nation and thats also a fact, john is also good and will also get drafted.
