John Wall was not called by Roy Williams

I remember reading an article on yahoo sports that John Wall was to be called by Roy Williams after UNC's championship game. But Roy did not call him. Imagine Wall going to UNC, I think that he could solve the problem of Point Guard in UNC's system. They could be the number 1-3 team in the country will Wall in them. Sorry about the flashback. I just want to know how in the h*** did Roy not call him.

heres the reason. talked to

heres the reason. talked to my nephew who plays j.v on the word of god basketball team. plus for other people in the nc area . john walls aau coach said the coach would have to talk to him if he wanted to talk to wall. or maybe the guy was a friend of the family. cant recall which anyway roy didnt wanna deal with him because of his rep and how he acts like a agent. alot of coaches dont wanna have to deal with anyone other then the player, family, coach. and they really truely hate to deal with a aau coach. now the other part im not sure of but word is that guy was also asking for something in return for wall to go there as well

If his AAU coach wanted

If his AAU coach wanted something in return, that is illegal for a college coach to do. Roy Williams would want no part in that because that would tarnish his legacy. No surprise he went to Kentucky with coach Calipari, one of the dirtiest coaches in the college game.

i think he was set to go

i think he was set to go where ever coach cal was at also though because of how he gets players ready for the nba. alot of players like his style and his offense which is great for players liek wall, rose, d.wagner, eveans that play better in a free wheeling offense

Maybe because wall is a one

Maybe because wall is a one and done player. I mean I don't ever remember hearing a UNC player going to the draft earlier in their college career.

I don't think Roy Williams

I don't think Roy Williams is a Big Fan of One-and-Done Players so he didn't push too hard to bring him in and thought he already had enough talent for now and he'd develop that. Notice that those Champ teams for UNC were all UpperClassmen, hardly any Sophomore or Freshmen...Well That I notice

Roy Williams is selfish. He

Roy Williams is selfish. He doesn't want others to take the credit and he knows the publicity John Wall carries. John Wall is clearly special, after all, he was in their backyard, so you really can't clarify losing him to Calipari.

He pulled Dexter Strickland,

He pulled Dexter Strickland, who's a McDonald's All-American in his own right and had Larry Drew returning so I guess he figured he had the PG spot solidified (?)...I still maintain that they shoiuld have tried alot harder than they appeared to have to get Wall. As they didn't offer him a scholarship or invite him for an official visit...

Roy already had Kendall

Roy already had Kendall Marshall coming =\

Roy knew this year's team would be the same as his 05-06 team. No need to recruit a one and done player just for the sake of getting wins.

Like a few you guys said,

Like a few you guys said, Roy has never been a one and done kind of coach. He never had a one and done his entire career at Kansas, and in North Carolina he is no different, he wants players to build a team, Ideally 3-4 year guys, but some of his very talented guys leave early and he's okay with that, but for somone who has followed Roy for 15 years plus, He'll pass on the big hype guy who is ready to leave as soon as the tournament is over in favor of a guy like John Henson or Ed Davis who has top talent, but need a year or two to learn and develop in his system.

well john henson was a one

well john henson was a one and done before not playing so well this year. harrison barnes is projected to be one and done. they were recruiting jeremy tyler whos overseas now who was gonna be a one and done. they recruited favors, mullins before both cut unc off there list. jru holiday, tyreke evans(who was about to get a offer before cutting down his list) same with eric gordan, kevin love, kevin durant, greg oden( who took them off the list early as well, and breden wright who actually went there
