This may be a long shot. But does lebron have the ego to challenge Kobe in LA, and sign with the clippers. Word is that the clips have enough money to sign 2 big name free agents this summer. Imagine they sign Lebron and Bosh.Wow how good would the clippers be?. This is just here say but the clippers could seriously challenge the lakers if they landed them..Lets just say they get lebron but no bosh, because that would likely not happen.
longer then a long shot. although i would liek to see it. it would make the lake show playing there ugly stepsisters alot more interesting and competitive
fun topic but def not likely.. That would be great for the league tho
man i would love to see that so they could knock the fakers off there high horse
to be able to get two max players...that means moving either Kaman or Davis...And if they were to sign James,i dont see Butler and Thorton both on the same team also.Thorton has been really bad as of late on both sides of the floor, but Butler has picked up his play(though his D is over rated, and he will take some bad shots from time to time)
whos the other max player
They won't have enough cap room to give LeBron a max offer. Even if they renounce all their expirings (Camby, Smith, Butler, and Davis) as well as their option on Mardy Collins, they still won't have max space for LeBron. It is possible if Bassy Telfair opts out, but I can't see him doing better than $2.7 million.
^actually they will most likely have about 17 million and the max deal is 16 the first year so they would.
not trying to sound like a hater, but just being real, even lebron would not come close to making LA a clipper town. Even if the clippers were better then the lakers,The Lakers are los angeles and this is Kobe's town. Would he be willing to play second fiddle in a city for the next 5 years?
I have to correct you buddy.
As it stands now... The Clippers will have eight players under contract entering free-agency and a total cap of $39,042,545. If the league cap is $54 million like people are saying, that'd leave the Clippers with $14,957,455 in cap room.
ALSO... The Clippers would have to renounce the rights to all of their free-agents. Once that happens, they'd be four roster spots under 12. The NBA would charge them a minimum cap hold for each roster spot under 12. That's the minimum rookie salary multiplied by four. Take that total and add it to $39,042,545... Subtract that from $54 million and that's how much the Clippers will have in cap room. So as you can see... That'd be even less than the $14,957,455 I mentioned above.
As it stands now... The Clippers would have to decline the qualifying offer on Mardy Collins and Bassy would have to opt out in order for the Clippers to have a shot at a max deal free-agent.
*Bassy opting out is a real possibility because he is extremely unhappy with his playing time.
Clippers, no they won't. BD ($13,050,000), Kaman (11,300,000), Blake (5,357,280), EG (3,016,680), Bassy (2,700,000), Al (2,814,196), and DAJ (854,389). That is $39 million for seven guys. Then, factor in the money for their first round pick and the cap holds for the empty roster spots. The cap is probably going to be around $53 million. How will they have $17 million?
Yea... And I forgot to add in the cap hold for the first round pick they'll have.
i was doing it based on this year of their contracts for the salary because i was using the espn trade machine salaries.
we all know he wont come because the slippers arent a good organization. if it wasnt for that id say hes crazy for not even considering it. might be a even better situation then miami. they will be getting a lotto pick and need a sf
I think he would be in a better position to win with the clippers then with the Nets or the Knicks they have more talent on their team then either of them. But it wont happen because their coach is terrible and they are a badly ran organization personally i think he stays in cleveland.
