What If The Knicks Don't Get LeBron?
They have plenty of money still, not sure they won't get Joe Johnson if Lebron is gone.
Not interested in Jason Williams, Outlaw, Tony Allen, Malik Allen
I like other guys like Brad Miller, Kyle Lowry, Anthony Morrow.
Definately Carmello Anthony is an option especially if Denver doesn't spend want to spend much becaz of the luxury tax.
Doubtful Knicks will be bad in 2011 to get a top pick.
they wont get joe if they decide to keep harrington and lee or even one of them. and denver is gonna spend what ever to keep melo. gotta be realistic nyk2010. the thing is too many people are looking at a quick fix for the knicks and i dont think its gonna happen. they are gonna get better and build but its not gonna be as quick as some people want it to be
What if come 2010 The Knicks don't add LeBron James?
As a Knick fan, I think we will be alright. I trust Donnie Walsh. Plus you also have to factor these 3 things
1) Most players will be gone and we have all our exceptions-
Hughes, Nate, Lee, Mobley, Harrington, Duhon and Darko are all off the cap. At this point, I think were gonna keep Lee. So the Roster is
Gallo-Chandler-Lee-Jefferies-Curry-Hill and Douglas
we still have some cap space. Lebron is gone, Wade is gone, Bosh is gone and Johnson is gone. Walsh will look through free agency. Here is some players I believe he will target to fit the offense for Dantoni : Jason Williams, Travis Outlaw, Tony Allen, Brad Miller, Malik Allen and Kyle Lowry to name a few. I think Walsh will play it safe, add players through the draft ( 2 2nd rounders) and maybe throw a exception in.
2) The Curry and Jefferies contracts only increase in value
Say what you want but NBA GM's love to take exp contracts. Say teams like Philadelphia, Washington, Golden State or any other team in financial trouble needs to make a move to shed contract, Eddy Curry's 13 mil and Jared Jefferies 8 mil sound pretty, pretty good. The Knicks could turn Curry and Jefferies into a David West, Andre Iguadala, Monta Ellis. Hell, they might throw in 1st round picks ( The Suns did this. They traded Kurt Thomas and 2 1st round picks to OKC for...nothing.)
3) 2011?
I love this. What if the Knicks are still a bottom 5 team? Well....we do have a 2011 1st round pick. So a player like Carmelo ( Or any big name FA in 2011) might look towards NY and see....Gallo and Harrison Barnes? Gallo, Chandler and Brandon Knight?
I dunno. Right now- I'm very optimistic but NY will be making a rebound this decade and looking at this year- there in a playoff race? NY is slowly crawling creeping from the abyss and looking at a bright future.
