Is John Wall overrated?
Hva eyou watched him play? Because although I agree that he is a poor 3-point shooter, he has a killer mid-range game and he gets to the rim easily. I 1000% disagree that he disappears though...He has the ball in his hands every play, so (for better or worse) he couldn't disappear from games if he wanted to...I think he's rated fine and will be an outstanding pro...
NO!!
college 3 is pretty much part of NBA midrange. I have been watching him play he is smart sometimes and he has a great spin move. However he does dissapear. I will give him this, he usually finishes great but he is not unstoppable all game. College 3 is like the high school three he needs work.
lol..he dissapears in games?..are we talking about the same john wall?..this kid shows up in big games and in crunch time. yeah he isnt the best shooter but he keeps defenses honest . no ones gonna leave him open to take a jumper thats for sure. i dont think he's under or overrated. i think hes right where he should be. not sure what reason he would need to come back since i dont see any players really pushing him to become better at the college level
I think hes overrated only because people view him as a best of all time PG....hes obviously awesome though, I see him as a perrenial all star, a Rose type career so if thats what u see him as then no hes not overrated
LOL that's why i like nba draft, all discussions and predictions..with some people talking about Wall being better than Rose in 3-5yrs or some things like PG's Kobe, there is still some haters who tries to make him look worse...man wake up every player can be better there and here, LeBron would be nice with Kobe's skills Kobe would be nice with 270 muscular body, so John Wall would be good with Allen's 3pt range but he is still easily one of the best(maybe the best) college player
Ok, yes he turns the ball over ALOT, but that's because he plays at such a high speed, once he learns how to control it, there will be no stopping him, you already cant stop him lol
The kid is living up to the hype and is leading a undefeated to as it's best player straight out of high school.
No one said he was a great shooting, but right now his jay is better than Rose's was at Memphis and even maybe now in the pros. He is the top pick in the draft and rated just right...
for one how often is there zone played in the nba. and yeah hes not the best shooter but arent most guards that come int he leauge , not very good shooters. i mean you act like he cant get better. and im nt sure if you notice but that wasnt the first time uk played against the zone and wall is shooting 39percent from three point range. hes shown in more games then not that hes at least a average shooter. you cant just go by one bad shooting game then all of a sudden say he isnt a good shooter. youve been on here since his first game but you pick the one game he shots bad to say hes not a good shooter. im not sure where he ranks as far as 3pt shooting ut i dont know hes shoots a better 3pt percentage then dyson whos considered a pretty good shooter(almost ten percent better). zones are made for you to not score as much and 5-10 with 17 points and youre team win is considered stunk in youre book?..wow
ive seen a couple who i think were faster..a kid named shanta rogers from baltimore was the fastest ive ever seen. i tsaid wall is about as fast as lawson. guess we will have to wait till the combine to see though
Some players can flat out play and make an impact despite their weaknesses. Wall isn't a good 3 point shooter, but he does so many things well. There are a handfull of very good point guards in the NBA right now who aren't good shooters either. He'd be better if he could shoot the 3, but Shaq would be better if he were an 80% free throw shooter, you gotta take the bad with the good, and Wall's good far outweighs his bad.
Yes, he's the same age as Jennings and people forget how crazy Jennings was in high school. Jennings would've been sick in the NCAA...
Anyway I'm saying that to say, yes he's overated. He's not as good as Jennings nor was he better in HS than Jennings, and no one is saying Jennings in the best since anyone.
he isn't disappearing, he is coasting no need to try when you're going to win easily. Wait to see him in the clutch, did you see the UCONN game.
John Wall is the real deal, BUT... He does have a few weaknesses.
1. He's phenomenal in the open court, but only average in the half court. I'd like to see him become more aggressive in the half court.
2. He's super turnover prone. His decision making skills need work, especially in the half court.
3. He's not a very good shooter just yet, but he should improve. He's a poor 3-point shooter. His pull up jumper is erratic and he doesn't shoot well driving right. He drives left like almost every time... That'll become predictable.
4. He struggles getting by his man when he's not in a full speed and blowing past them. I expected his ball handling ability to be better than what it is. He gets a lot of comparisons to Rose, but I think Rose is a lot better when it comes to change of pace/direction and bursting out of the gates from a standstill position.
I agree......With a head full of steam Wall is unguardable, but his first step is not as explosive as Rose's and Wall handle isn't as tight as I thought it would be lol guess I watched to many of those mixtapes he had.
he isn't a good three point shooter so i would hope he goes to a team with a bunch of shooters. i have no way to compare but i think if he was on boston right now he would do just as good as rondo.
also, as stated above by tezo83, he needs to stop gambling so much but i think he will at the next level.
I dont see how 40% 3pt shoot equates as bad. Also I don't think he disappears unless you are talking about when the coach subs him out.
I kind of like that Westbrook comparison, Wall seems to be a pretty good medium of he and Rose, as He is much more advanced as a Pt. guard then WestBrook was, when he was in school, and both play at a break-neck pace that gives them high amounts of turnovers
There is nothing overrated about saying he is the best player in college basketball, and the best player eligible for the 2010 draft. I would say that there is overhyping of him with some people saying he is already better than Derrick Rose or that he will be a point guard version of Kobe. The two are very different.
I heard one of the best college point guards ever from someone in that last game. Thats some absurd sh!t. He is the best prospect that was absurd talk "best ever" come on way too early. He will be the best in this class though number 1
This is kinda a trick question..............Is he the best talent based on current production in this draft? Probably. Is he playing great? Yeap. But he is overrated. Oh no blasphemy.......Seriously I hear people saying if Utah gets the #1 pick they should trade Deron Williams and keep Wall. That is overrated. John Wall will be a solid point guard in the NBA.......actually he will be a great Point Guard in the NBA on the level of Chris Paul and Steve Nash but to hear some talk about him you would be prepared to be seeing the next Magic Johnson. Wall is great but not as great as everyone is making him out to be.

Is John Wall overrated? He dissapears in games and struggles with the college 3-pointer. He may need another year.
