xavier henry and lance

xavier henry and lance stephenson need to drop some and favors won't fall that far simply because of his potential.

i dont see that potential

i dont see that potential for favors to play sf. his handles are very shakey and his jumper is very short range. its not like randolph when he was in college and went coast to coast a couple of times or created offense at the top of the key.and liek i said in anothe rpost there are some nba teams that have favors ropping that far because they have watched him play.
i think lance is too high even though i liek his game and i dont see what sense drafting cousins makes for minny when they have love and jefferson... cousins isnt as good as either and i dont think he will ever be as good as either honestly. not to slight his game but lov will be a allstar one day. maybe not every year and jefferson will be too

Quincey

You really don't like Favors bro...We get it...I completely disagree. He's only 18. And whether you like it or not, Favors WILL be a top-3 pick and I really don't think that's going to change. And like I've said, he can only get better.

Btw...He's not that raw. I'm not saying he's going to be a star right away, but he's not Deandre Jordan lol.

Gregoden- I agree. Favors has had some good games so far. He's can do better but right now- He's maintain that top 3 position. Quincy stop hatin!

ya'll kill me with the dont

ya'll kill me with the dont liek a player just because i speak the truth about a player. what have i said that hasnt been backed up by proof?..i think its more of a case of some people overloveing too much. and you dont have to be deandre jordan to be raw offensively. raw meaning he does what he does off of physcialy gifts like out jumping or being taller then off of skill. its not hating its just the truth. when you know someone is overloving someone they give excuses like..well hes ony this age. well so are alot of other freshmen this year and in the past. that doesnt change the fact that he is still raw offensively

Alright

That's fine...Yes, he COULD drop...But I doubt teams will pass on a player like Derrick. And yes Quincey, age DOES matter...Especially for a post player. You know that. 12, 9 and 2.5 bpg is not that bad man...He is also playing next to a potential first rounder in Gani Lawal who does take away boards from Favors...If you take away early foul trouble, Favors has played really solid.

I understand what you're saying...BUT YOU HATE ON DERRICK ON EVERY SINGLE THREAD ABOUT HIM...We get it...You think he's raw offensively...Oh well. Seriously, every single time I see a thread about Derrick I know you already said something negative about him.

also i guess a couple of nba

also i guess a couple of nba teams are hating too since when some writers from hoopshype asked some teams they said he has dropped a lil and hes more looked at for his potential rather then what he can do right away

DraftExpress is where I made

DraftExpress is where I made it. Plus, I saw Donatas play in person, his skills are prototypical at three and four. Some guys get called twiners because they're stuck, he won't have that problem.

We thought BJ Mullens wasn't

We thought BJ Mullens wasn't going pass Detroit Pistons, even though he showed some skills in the Summer League. We also though Blair wasn't going to fall. Favors will fall a little.

U not a fan of Maggette? I don't think he is doing to bad of a job i think the only change GSW needs a new coach and they will be winning, they have great talents in that team.

Would love the Pacers to pick up Johnson or Turner and certainly wouldn't say no to Wall.

and if you want we can take

and if you want we can take a even deeper look behind my opinion of him. lets see hes putting up 12 and 8 which isnt tha bad for a freshman against a pretty cupcake schedule.. they did play fsu with a future nba big man and a big front line and he had 8pts 12 reb 4 turnovers. last game against charlotte which isnt a reall good team but they arent real bad either he had 6pts 7 reb. he pretty much gets in foul trouble every other game because his defense of iq isnt real good but thats expected of a freshman. he scores strictly from under the basket dish offs of follow ups or frm fast breakst. he doesnt shoot many jumpers and when he does he doesnt make most of them. not sure where the hating is in any of that. ive watched 11 of his 13 games so its not like ive only seen a cuple games that he's played in. it has nothing to do with hating it has everything to do with being honest about how a player is player

how you figure hes not raw

how you figure hes not raw offensively?..have you ever watched him play?..its so obvious that hes raw on offense that its not really even worth mentioning. announcers say it i see it other people see it. you getting me saying hes raw confused with hating. i guess you stop reading before you get to the ars where i say he has the potential to be a very good player and that if he stayed another year he could be much better?..and yea hes 18 but so is alot of other freshmen like i said . hes not much young then many other players out there. the fact that hes playing with another potential first rounder actually helps him out as far as getting bette ropportunites to not only score but not have to worry about checking the best big man on the floor. if you feel hes not raw then please tell me what part of his offensive game RIGHT NOW is on a nba level?

Favors has Josh Smith type

Favors has Josh Smith type fluidity, Amare Stoudemire build, but I can't point out his skill-set. Whereas, you have a guy like Xavier Henry, his skill-set projects to Michael Redd or Jimmy Jackson. Point taken, Favors need to show me more.

I actually agree with you on

I actually agree with you on Rose. If he cannot get to the basket, he really doesn't know what to do.

I disagree about Favors. It's not his fault, I seen GT play- that whole team looks raw.

i tell it like it is its

i tell it like it is its that simple..and you may say its hating but its funny how theres zero proof backing up youre claim. you cant say" he takes over games" "he hits the midrange or deep jumper" he has alot of offensive post moves" he scores most of his points off of post moves". will he be a lotto pick off of his potential of course no one denies that but am i suppossed to say hes so good cuz of what he potential can do or should i say how hes doing as well as what he could potentially do?

who said its his fault?..if

who said its his fault?..if i was hating id say he will never be good and shouldnt even be drafted first round. the best way i tell people to look at it is what would you say about him if you never seen him play in highschool or didnt know who he was and just watched his games?..would you say.."wow that kid is great he could come int he nba now and do work"..or would you say" man that kid has potential. right now he scores mostl on his size and athletisim bt man hes young and if he gets his post skills together he could be a very good player". most of the over loves are so stuck on what he did in highschool and his name that they dont see anything else. they dont watch his game and look at the lil things or the foot work or the decision making

If Rose doesn't get to the

If Rose doesn't get to the basket, usually he shoots the mid-range shot. The fact is, Rose can get to the basket anytime he wants to. Name one person that can stop him. Favors would probably look better if they had shooters. His teammates just run into the paint with the ball and commit t/o's. As a result, Favors suffer.

so its because the guards

so its because the guards that favors suffers?..see this is what im talking about with the excuses. it just cant be that favors is raw and hasn't developed to his potential yet huh? why is that so hard to understand that he just isnt where hes gonna be yet and that he has alot of work to do?

no need to take it the heart

no need to take it the heart because the numbers on top of watching him play says it all. he is what he is right now. theres no shame in a player you like being what they are. no need to make excuses for why they are

I'm not making excuses. I

I'm not making excuses. I just said a team full of Fresh and Sophs are raw.

I just never heard of a player with

12ppg, 8rpg and 2bpg
6 double doubles

being raw. Also, Don't discount the fact he plays next to Gani Lawal who's dropping almost a 15-10.

I agree with quincy Favors

I agree with quincy Favors is hella raw, he only can score because of his physical gifts, his game is not polished at all he just has lots of potential.

man it would be nice if the

man it would be nice if the bulls got favors....as far as this convo i can see where both of ya'll are coming from somewhat. i havent watched alot of favors games because of my coaching job but he is a raw player. hes not thabeet raw but if you do watch him you can see he score through transition and how good of a athlete he is. its the same way of the rebounds he gets which is why so many scouts think he reminds them of josh smith because josh was talented when he was young but he was also raw. i think every scouting report ive read about favors has him being raw in it. it also says he has the potenital to be a very very good player. i havent seen anything about him dropping yet thugh so im not sure about that. but i do know some people do overrate him as far as how he plays right now and are so high on him because of who he is and not because of what hes doing on the court. he does have a good player playing next too him but so does many other players out there. personally id still want him in chicago reguardless what he does because of his potential but i must say im not real impress with what hes done against the teams hes played against. has anyone really looked at GT schedule?

If you do watch GT play

If you do watch GT play other teams clog up the lane because GT has no perimeter shooters, especially when Iman Shumpert is out of the lineup. That's the reason they played poorly in all the games I've wached. Trust me, I've watched every single Tech game because they come on local TV here and that's what I see. They have no polsihed players in the front or backcourt. I'm sure you'd agree to that Quincey since you've watched all their games. I think their guard play has been a main reason they haven't been as good as they should be. Udofia has been the only consistent player on the team from the perimeter, while Shumpert would be if he stayed healthy. I truly believe if they had better play from the perimeter the low post would open up..

those arent great numbers

those arent great numbers against who they have played against even with having gani on his team?..seriously have you watched him play this year?..im starting to think you havnt if you dont believe he is raw right now. he does what he does off of his god given physical gifts not from great foot work, box out techniques, handles, jumpers, step backs or other skills.. and you ahveneve rheard of a player with those numbers being raw?..are you serious?..ive seen plenty with better numbers being considered raw. thabeet was considered raw if im not mistaken. mutombo played mre years and was considered raw. greg oden's offense was considered raw as well. a. randoplh was considered very talented but also raw

i agree 100percent with that

i agree 100percent with that iggy. even gani is raw to a lesser extent. and you should know how favors scores then if you watch them play. you can see the trouble he has handling the ball. the turnovers, the lack of post moves. but also see the potential of what he can become. lets drop the biasesness and just look at what he has done so far. as a gm if you never seen him in hs or better yet if you were making all acc, conference and other awards where would you pick him or what award would he get?..based soley on what hes done so far, the competition hes played against and nothing to do with potential?..like i said before would you say "wow hes close to being what he will become" or " right now he needs some work to play with the big boys but he could be something"

Yea, he's raw right now do matter what. I think Lawal is raw as well, but he's tougher and can works hard to establish position, even though that's not always going to be enough in the NBA..

exactly. id actually be

exactly. id actually be higher on favors if he went as hard as gani. sometimes you look at favors and he kinda of coasts. he has gotten away with it against there schedule so far but once acc play starts and the unc, dukes, go hard clemson and even my boys maryland come to town that coasting is gonna get his feelings hurt

True

I noticed that as well...he does kind of coast in and out of games..I really think the main problem is foul trouble. Kind of like what Greg Oden faces in the NBA. When he's not in foul trouble, he's dominant, but when he's in foul trouble all parts of his game suffer because he can't be as aggressive.

i wouldnt go so far as

i wouldnt go so far as saying dominate because even when hes not in foul trouble he plays well but far from being dominate. maybe some fans may think that and have a lower opinion of what dominate is but when i think dominate i think of what blake, durant, rose, wall, melo, wade, beasley etc have done in games where you say " man he dominated". favors hasnt had one of those or close to one of those. even cousins who im not the biggest fan of as far as what he can do in the nba right now has had a dominate game or 2 although it was against cupcakes. sometimes we have to sit back and just be realistic about what someone is doing reguardless if we like a player or not. i had to do that with d.james for texas and hansbrough and onc ei did that he realized how good both players really were.

Louisville really isn't that

Louisville really isn't that good this year, but they do have a NBA caliber athlete at the PF position in Terrence Jennings. I didn't see them game yesterday, but he's at least a decent matchup to see what Cousins can do. Like I said I didn't see the game, but I have to think 18 and 18 in 26 minutes against that caliber of a player is pretty decent. As for Jennings, he had 5 Points, 4 Rebounds, and 3 Blocks in 15 minutes. I didn't see the game so I can't say if they went at each other much, just saying Louisville has a decent frontcourt in Jennings and Samuels.

I thought Cosuins stepped up

I thought Cosuins stepped up big time against Louisville yesterday. He's always been a monster on the glass, and he showed that he can do good against NBA prospects. Louisville may not be good this season, but Samuels and Jennings is not a frontline to sleep on at all. Especially Samuels, who's one of the better bigs in the nation...

yeah its nothing to sleep on

yeah its nothing to sleep on but both players are nba second rounders at this point. the unc and uconn to a lesser extent were alot better front lines then louiville on top of being a better team. so i cant really say he showed what he can do against a nba caliber front line although he took a step in the right direction by playing very well against that front line

right now i dont think hes

right now i dont think hes ready to go in the nba against the skilled big men there who are his size and more athletic, and contribute much. plus he is for sure not ready mentally and his defense leaves alot to be desired, with that said i dont see another big man being as good as him( favors included if he stays) because you can see the potential there and i can see him dominating and potentially being a player of the year candidate and a for sure 1st team allamerican

Quincy, If Cousins continues

Quincy,
If Cousins continues to play consistently then there's no way you can keep denying he has game. In reality, he only has two remaining regular season games where he faces possible future post pros, Feburary 9th against JaMycheal Green of Alabama and Feburary 16th against Jarvis Varnado and Mississippi State.

whos denying his game. i see

whos denying his game. i see the potential. i also think he cant do the same thing against good big men yet. yeah he can go in the nba but do you really see him contributing much now?..he over powers smaller big men in college right now. not really athletic. u gotta look beyond the stats sometimes which is obviously what alot of nba peopel do since they dont have him top 3 even though hes putting up good numbers. patters is a better player right now and even he is a mystery about being top 10. then you factor in his maturity level and his lack of defense and it becomes retty obvious that he needs another year. samuels and jennings, are not as good as any starting nor back up center or pf in the nba. the cloest thing to a nba big man hes seen is the uconn and unc big men and even they arent starting caliber nba big men and he struggled against them because they have pro games. is he good yes. but is he ready to take on the nba big men..no..and im not denying his game..i never said hes sorry i just said he's not ready for the pros. basically there are 3 games you can truely judge him by and thats lousivilel to a lower extent and unconn and unc. you cant look to hard at the cupcake teams with the sorry big men as far as how a player will potentially do in the pros. and if you noticed every year scouts liek to see what a player does against the top comp. you think curry would have went as high if he couldnt do much against duke or eric maynor if they dominated cupcakes but struggled against the good future pro guards. i share there opinion as far as i have to see how a player does against better comp before i can tell if they can do work on the nba level. if they struggle against the top players but do well against the lower level players then im skeptical. or if they dont have a skill that can contibute in the nba right now. but like i sai dbefore i see the potential and one more year maturing his game and more importantly his mental state will do wonders for him

I definitely think dude has

I definitely think dude has a mean streak to him, that's for sure, maybe even crazy, but what makes him such an interesting prospect is that he's so big and strong as well as skilled at such a young age. He may not have the maturity down pat yet, but as you know that comes with age. Yes, you're right he had weak games against the only top-flight competition he's faced, but remember NBA GMs when in doubt go big and I can't see more than 15 players going before him in this draft just based on his potential. How many other legitimate 6'11" 18 year old PFs do you see at his size and skill level? To tell you the truth, I firmly believe another year at Kentucky will either prove he doesn't have the mental toughness to be a Good to Great Pro or give him the extra experience he needs to be the Top 3 Pick his size and skill level warrant. I have to believe the latter, I think he wants to be a Great Player, he's got the mean streak that's for sure, him and Stephenson, these kids come in cocky, don't they? He'll toughen up as the season progresses, otherwise Calipari will sit him, and I think Cousins has far too much passion for the game to let that happen. Just remember GMs firmly believe it takes big men longer to develop, he just has to put his bad games behind him and be consistent every game from here on out, that's where his maturity hopefully continues to grow.
