will stay for another year in college..everyone know that Henson and Bradley really want to stay, we talked that Cousins needs also..but how about Derrick Favors? he has tons of potential, he has size length athleticism but still he is not "that" Favors who can dominate like Beasley or Blake plus he is playing with another very good college big man PLUS he is 2-3yrs younger than most of prospects, he will be just 19 for all next season..
so IF Derrick will stay where he would be in early mocks, number 1? 2 under Barnes? 3 under Perry? or even lower?
I think he would be the #1 pick, I think it would be a similar situation to Blake Griffin. Granted, if Favors left this season he would go higher than Griffin would have gone as a frosh ( he was projected 7-10 in part to how stacked that class of freshman was ) but I think since Favors is averaging 12 and 9 as a frosh he could come back and average 18 and 11 as a soph and be the #1 pick, but if he came back and didn't improve as expected he could drop and be known as a purely potential guy and slip to the 7-10 range himself, where this year he will probably be the first PF taken.
yeah, he shood def. stay in one more yr. pll compare him to amare, i can c y, but the skills are just not there yet. he can be in the griffin mold if he stays one more yr.
he should stay because hes just not ready. im not a fan of the younger or playing next to a good player excuse because many other players have done it and have done well plus theres plenty of players out there 2 or 3 years younger then other players because thats how it works when youre a freshman. right now hes just too raw and he does what he does off of average skill and above average athletisim. chances are he will put his name in the draft though
yea he prob will, thts to bad, cuz if u look at it, if some guys had stayed in college longer, they coodve been a lot better
I dont know, I actually think Favors should come out...
Guys with sky-high potential would be better of coming straight out, so they can have more time to develop in the pros, as opposed to developing in college, thats why I think some high school players are so successful
I agree with you guys when I say hes not ready, but staying another year would only have a Blake Griffin affect, in the sense that he might be able to go #1
if cousins, favors, bradley, lance, and jordan hamilton decide to stay im willing to bet all will be lottery and ready for the leauge and will contribute right away
Favors isn't that good, his ceiling is Hakim Warrick or Tyrus Thomas. He doesn't have Tyrus' explosiveness but he still can rise as high or even higher... but Tyrus explodes and destroys people.
Have no idea what your talking about. Derrick has an incredibly high ceiling...Hakim Warrick? Really? Just stop...He's just 18 years old.
yeah you get more time int he nba but alot of young players have gone and confidence gets soo low that they never fully realize there potential. sometimes its better to develop in college while getting more prepared to contribute right away in the pros because alot of players get so down on there selfs because they expected to do more when they got to the pros that they never end up being as good as they could have been. i also ment to add that favors isnt as explosive as some people were claiming that he is. he is athletic but i notice his arms are pretty long and he doesnt have that bounce like a josh smith( not close) or tyrus.
why stay? he is a top three pick now.
he should stay but i wouldnt blame him for leaving. as far as top three pick. yeah in mock drafts but i read some rumors in hoopshype that some nba teams have him dropping to 7 or below.
I think he will go because he is still regarded as a top 10 talent
i think ill wait to see about perry jones. ive seen a couple of his games online and im not impressed at all. he plays nothing like a tmac when he plays in a structured offense. he struggles BIG TIME and thats against none superstar hs players. now when he in a open gym style wherehe can go go coast to coast then he s a different player but there arent any team sint he nba that play a street ball game like that. hes also a pretty lazy player which i didnt know that about him. sometimes he just watches some one drive the lane or jogs back on offense or defense. he lacks that fire although he has tons of potential. i hope he gets it together soon. as far as barnes i like his game but just like every other freshman from this current class im gonna have to wait and see what he does against college level talent befor ei say hes going top 3. as you can see alot of freshmen arent locks at certain spots like some people thought during the summer before they played college basketball
Quincey, I so agree...Perry is so overrated. The T-Mac comparisons are way off. Perry doesn't have the mentality of T-Mac nor does he have the skills.
i have to disagree as far as the skills. i remeber tmac as a sr in hs because we played against and watched mt zion in a maryland tournament and i have to say after watching perry aau games he looks just like him. no bull. but again thats aau which is more free willing. he has the potential to do tmac things but i dont know if he will because tmac could do those things in a structured offense and perry hasnt shown that he can. he didnt last year before this summer and he hasnt shown it this year either. but he will probably still go high because of potential even if he doesnt do alot. like john henson. lots of potential clearly not ready for the nba but would go first round if he came out.
