KENTUCKY VS LOUISVILLE
I am a HUGE Peyton Siva guy...I hope hew plays so he can finally show a national audience how much potential he has. He's going to be an interesting prospect in 2011 or 2012...
I'm interested to see Louisville's big men.
Jennings and Samuels should have little issue against Cousins, Patterson and Orton
The Guards will need to step up. I think Preston Knowles will be on John Wall all day
lol..man this game is a street ball game already..4 players already abou tto fight ..this is the perfect game to get couins out of the game because he doesnt play smart and lets his emotions get in the way..i dont even think a minute has gone by yet..tech on cousins..might get thrown out...1 turnover
but i dont agree with what you said about louisville front line quincy. they arent that good defensively.. i watched a couple of there games and there big men play pretty bad defense esspecially samuels. thats a reason they run alot of zone. they arent even close down low to uconn or unc
This game is intense, there were like 4 fouls in the first 30 seconds
Kentcuky is serious.....They are the better team. Lousville cannot score. What is Edgar Sosa doing. He needs to step up and lead this team, he's the senior. Samuels is getting the shut down treatment rom Kentucky's rontline. Their too athletic and long...
that front line is too good for louisville but the guards is whats really hurting them because when they get it either wall or the other guard drops down. i notice those power moves cousins does against cupcakes dont work as well against good teams the 2 times blocked then the reverse airball
the funny thing is as good as uk defense has been and as bad as the cards have been playing they arent down by as much as they should be and yeah they do look scared. the cards guards look like they are in hs
Wow..
7 minutes left in the 1st half, and L'Ville only scored 1 basket....
Kentuckys bigs are just to much to handle for that louisville team
1-19 from the field, 10 turnovers to start. That is something.
Who is taller, Samardo Samuels or DeJuan Blair?
Wall really needs a jumper and cousins is a good player in only about six minutes he played he almost got a double double he can be a good player in kentuckys future and wall needs to break the defense down and drive to the basket
that zone is starting to work and the cards guards are gaining confidence. thats why you gotta kill a team early so they cant start to get confidence. they probably were saying in the huddle" we playing horrible but we arent down by that much fellas and we know we can play better"
if patterson isnt a top 10 pick then people dont know basketball.. this guy has a nba body with a very nice jumper kinda like haslem except he can shoot it a lil depper and hes pretty athletic and has a nice post game.
Patterson is really solid. I think he should be a late lottery to mid-first round pick. He's undersized, but I think he has enough athleticism. I can see him playing the pick and pop game. He has the ability to put it on the floor and drive too.
Preston Knowles is a really underrated player. Really really good on defense. I am a big fan of his. Hard worker that never gets any credit. Seems to have a great head on his shoulders.
This game should be close in the 2nd half because Louisville's guards play tough defense which makes it tough for Kentucky to score. However, Kentucky will win a close one just because they have the edge in the post.
The length of Kentucky is bothering Lousiville's guards. This has made it tough obviously for Smith & Sosa to score. Wall, Harris, Liggins, Miller, Dodson are all very tall/long Guards/SFs.
Jerry Smith is the best perimeter defender in college basketball. Even though Lousiville is playing bad, I have to let everyone know. I'm telling you, he might not be much offensively but he's a tough defender. My comparison: Derek Fisher.
yeah cousins is a big time future/potential talent...not ready to contribute ont he nab level now and not as good as some on here think but hes still pretty good...i really like patterson though. hes the perfect high for a pf at 6'9 asnd i think theres not such thing as a undersized pf these days if you are taller then 6'6 . i think undersized for a position only should be used if the person is constantly out played by bigger players because of there height. plus the average hight for a pf is 6'9
I think he's closer to 6' 8", not 6' 9", but we'll see when he gets measured at the combine. I really like him though. I wouldn't be surprised if he went in the top 10.
Observations:
Knowles is causing havoc on the defensive end.
I would like to see Siva shoot the ball some.
Sosa has been non-existent. Louisville needs him to score.
Liggins needs to get more playing time for Kentucky.
Cousins is Huge. He is a physical specimen & you can't ignore the fact that he shoots a high percentage. Still he shoots 90% of the time he touches the ball. He has to learn to kick it out to the open man when he gets double teamed. Plus the way he acts is terrible. Everytime he gets bumped he has to retaliate. Basketball is a physical game, you are going to get hacked...especially when you are the biggest player on the court. He better get used to it & learn to control his emotions. NBA scouts have certainly taken notice. If it wasn't for those issues Cousins would probably be a lock for the lottery I think.
i agree about the height.. i dont think he will struggle because of his jumper.. anytime you have that jumper it opens up things alot kevin love has one of the shortest wingspans in the nab but can score because he can hit the midrange( on top of good offensive moves) and the nba isnt filled with great shot blockers....i like ortons potential also.. not really skilled as far as post moves but i can see him becoming something 3 years down the line
I don't think Patterson will struggle offensively because he can shoot... I said defensively. I think he could struggle defending longer guys.
I like Orton too. He could be a lottery prospect in a couple of seasons.
oh defensively..yeah i can see in the beginning because he will be a rookie to the leauge but i dont think it will last too long because hes a good defender and moves his feet liek chuck hayes whos 6'6 with a short wing span but a good defender
i remeber patterson coming out of hs people talked about how strong he was. although thats just hs. he works hard and he is above average athletically so i think he should be ok on defense. i like how samuels did that power moved and when there bodies collided pattersons didnt move. i think a player that plays with that intesnsity and has the physical tools can be a good defender and he's always had that intensity. i see players liek cousins and other guys who dont really work to hard on defense having more of a issue with it. with defense you dont have to block shots to be a good defender if you work hard and beat a man to a spot
...Did Patterson just miss a dunk?
imo i think patterson could turn into an amare stoudemire type player. both are aggresive going to the basket and patterson can shoot from 20 ft like stoudemire. i think he is a top 10 pick in june if kentucky is in the final four. cousins reminds me of a poor mans zach randolph he will end up being a late lottery pick.

another big game for both teams. louisville plays tough full fourt defense and this is the game that walls turnovers could haunt him if he turns it over. another big game for the overrated (by some fans on here) demarcus cousins. we will see if he can up his averages (7ppg 7reb 3fouls against good/future pro big men/ranked teams) against yet another good batch of big men who are talented. his match up will be very interesting against samario samuels who leads the team in points and reb. i think kentucky will win sinc ei dont think louisville isnt real good liek they have been in the past but you never know with a rivalry game
