The Perfect Team For Willie Warren Is...

The Los Angeles Clippers. The Clippers have a big scoring point guard with court vision good enough to get by. The problem is he is 50 year old Baron Davis. Enter Oklahoma. They have a big scoring point guard with court vision good enough to get by. He's Willie Warren, The New Baron Davis. He could learn from Baron in the twilight of his career as they both have the same strengths (and the same weaknesses). It also fits the Clips team makeup as they are set at C, PF, and shooting guard. They can find a 3 much faster than they can find a 1 plus Warren can play the backup 2 guard off the bench as well as backup 1 until he takes over the point.

Ever hear of Eric

Ever hear of Eric Gordon....

He is the future of this team at the 2 and possibly the 1. Also, Telfair has been playing good for them.

The Clips

The Clips aren't that stupid to think Gordon is a 1 at this point. That thought was floated around last year and i don't think it was repeated this year. He hasn't played a lick of point and they even brought in Telfair. Also I said Warren would BACKUP Gordon at the 2 next year and REPLACE Baron at the point. Telfair will always be a backup point.

Warren would fit But.

Warren would fit but the Clips are likely to finish much higher in the lottery than his skill set would warrant, with or without Blake griffin returning. He shoots fairly well, and has a good handle but where the clips draft they could be looking at Bradley, Ebanks, Henry, or Turner if he slips because of his back. Not to mention a potential trade of Kaman which could bring backcourt help if the clips violate NBA protocol and trade big for small, this scenario adds Aldrich to the mix as center who would bring defense and rebounding to compliment a potent scoring lineup with a healthy gordon and Griffin. For Warren to be the pick the clips would probably have to ignore any backcourt help which could be had through sign and trade or outright unrestricted free agency this offseason. With a young nucleus of Gordon, Griffin, Thornton, and with Davis up and down every other year, a consistent veteran with the ability to facilitate is warranted. The Clips need wins next year in the worst way.

That said

Warren has a game that is better than what is on display this year, I like him I just dont know if I like him in the Lottery, a big finish in conference and in a post season tourney (NCAA, NIT) could sway me a little bit. But the number of versatile Pg/Sg/SF types is outstanding this year. I know he is listed pg but he has always had that tweener pg/sg feel kinda like Acie Law

Willie

I saw Willie Warren play against Gonzaga and came away not totally sold. He played well second half but by that time the game was basically over. He didnt play with confident the whole game in my eyes and he wasn't assertive. He has skills be good player in NBA, but he doesn't seem be into the game whole time. I think he should stay another year at this point and work on leadership skills and his own maturity.

Starbucks that's a great analysis. I can't quite understand why Kaman isn't a lock to stay. I know he has weaknesses, but he is clearly a top 20 center and it's not like good bigs are a dime a dozen these days. You have to be right that the Clips would much prefer a veteran distributor but they may not have a choice because like NBA centers, there are only a few point guards that would give you more production than Baron. I don't think Warren is a top 10 pick either, but I don't think the Clips will have a pick higher than 8. They are actually playing solid but not great basketball and should be a group with the Grizz, Kings, Hornets and Thunder lotto wise

"Willie Warren. The new Baron Davis"

Do you mean he is similar to BD or that he would just replace him? Because we can't say that Willie Warren is nearly as athletic as Baron Davis was. Davis was on another level in his 20s. Also BD was a better passer than Warren is. Yet, with that said I think Baron Davis greatly underachieved with his natural talents (getting hurt often was obviously also an issue) and Willie Warren may turn out to be more dependable health wise and more productive in the long term.

Chicago

Chicago could use him at the 2, they need to get Rose some help and he can be his new Ben Gordon
