The Suns draft good players, but always trade them in the near future
They drafted Nate Robinson, Rudy F, Deng, Gortat, Rondo. How good of team would they be if they kept all these pieces???
I thought I saw this thread two days ago but apparently it disappeared. Anyway, Robert Sarver bought the team in 2004 and just about every year he's virtually given away number one draft choices, allegedly to save money. If the owner of the NY Knicks or NJ Nets did something so stupid on a regular basis, he would be the subject of daily ridicule in the NY newspapers. I don't understand why Sarver doesn't get that same kind of scrutiny in Phoenix.
I'm not sure if the following is 100% accurate, but it's pretty close.
2004: Traded the 7th pick in the draft for a future draft choice
Traded the 16th pick in the draft to Utah?
2005: Traded the 21st choice in the draft to NY Knicks
2006: Traded the 21st choice in the draft, who was Rajon Rondo, to Boston
Traded the 27th choice in the draft, who was Sergio Rodriguez, to Portland.
2007: Traded the draft rights to Rudy Fernandez to Portland
