Thoughts on Arenas

I would never throw the term hate loosely with an NBA player who I do not know personally....but as a basketball player, Gilbert Arenas is the closest I am to feeling that way....For at least 5 years, I have felt Arenas is the most over-rated player in the NBA

He has been considered a superstar to the game, but plays a very selfish way, often taking too many shots, and of those shots much of them are poor....However, year after year, people keep saying that the Wizards are finally ready to be an elite team in the East or close to it....This incident will finally put that to rest, but regardless, the core the Wizards have is never going to do anything in the East ever...I have never been humored with Arenas's personality, the "Hibachi" or "scoring 80 against Duke", yet the media seems to love his bitterness towards people who didnt draft him or Coach K for wisely not putting him on the Olympic team where he would have been a cancer.

Regardless of anything that happened think about the Wizards organization....They made a huge investment in him to be their franchise player and Arenas has responded with 2 straight seasons of contributing nothing to the team...Rather then come back with humbleness and determination to regain his form, he pulls a stunt like this and completely betrayed the organization that invested so much of their future in him

People that rank Arenas as a top 5 PG either don't know basketball or are enamored with great scoring and long range over teamwork and actual PG skills....Gimme an unselfish player like Rajon Rondo and take "Agent Zero Heart" and ill be laughing all the way to the NBA finals....What happened was an embarressment to the league but was only a part of what makes Gilbert Arenas so unnappealing to me as a man and NBA player

I have never had a problem

I have never had a problem with gil as a player or person until this incident, and we still don't know all the details. And if Arenas is healthy, then yes I think he is a top 5 pg. Not all pg's play like traditional pg's but his scoring ability is on a level with the elite players and he can and has won games.

He is simply not a top 5

He is simply not a top 5 PG....I think everyone can agree that Nash, Deron, and Paul are the clear top 3

I would put Rondo 4 but you can argue that....players i would take over Arenas though....Tony Parker is always forgotten but is a more efficient score then Gilbert and a better passer, Chauncey Billups is a PG in every sense of the word and leads his team to victorys, I would take Rose also but ill admit thats a toss up....Who of those people is Arenas a better all around player then

Arenas isn't a top 5 anymore

No, he was a top 5 pg before his injury when he was dropping like 28 and 6 Chris Paul and Deron Williams weren't established, not anymore. He is still effective because he has a knack for scoring and shoots so much, but in my opinion he is barely in the top 10.

Gilbert is a top 5 point

Gilbert is a top 5 point guard do u consider tony parker a top point guard do u consider derrick rose a top point guard because gilbert average more points and assist just because he did something stupid dont make he is a bad player and he can get buckets and pass while doing just because he not your typical pass first point guard dont mean he aint good what he did was wrong and yall dont know every detail so do go on writing him off

I would have said the exact

I would have said the exact same thing yesterday, guns or no guns he shoots 41% from the feild and often tries to force things on offense. He has made a nice recovery from his injury, but he just isn't the same player he was 4 years ago. Numbers aren't everything, I still think Tony Parker is a better point guard, he is having a down year but Arenas isn't in the same class as Paul, Williams, and Nash, and I'd put Parker and Billups over Arenas too. Derek Rose isn't top 5, but he has really come on lately now that he is healthy and is averaging 23 and 6 in his last 5 games. Gil is still a top player in the league, but not a top 5 point anymore

u forgot his turnover

u forgot his turnover and free throw problems too...didnt he have double digit turnovers in a game this year...I agree with him not being a top 5 point guard anymore...Honestly i dont think he's even a top 10 point guard...He gets his numbers because he has the ball in his hands so much...terrible percantages all around...He's the ANTI STEVE NASH

Arenas

Arenas robbed the organization off of that $111 Million Dollar contract... OVERPAID and I can dare say, OVERRATED...

He is absolutely

He is absolutely overrated.....and yes I think Tony Parker is a better PG than him, Numbers do not tell you everything, how about this...

Do you think Boston is a better team with Arenas instead of Rondo?
Do you think Denver is better with Arenas instead of Billups?
Do you think San Antonio is better with Arenas instead of Parker?

The answer to those 3 questions is a definitive no, so just because he may have better numbers, that doesnt make him a better player, all of those teams would go down a level if he was a leaving them, maybe there is a reason that 3 of them have rings and he never will

When has Arenas ever played

When has Arenas ever played with a KG? When has he ever played with someone like Melo? When has he ever played with anyone close to Duncan, Manu, and RJ? To say it is a definitive no is just wrong. Have we all decided to forget that Kobe didn't win with Odom and Caron Butler? They didn't even make the playoffs. Is that an indictment on Kobe? If not, then why is it an indictment that Arenas can't win with Jamison, Butler, and a bunch of guys who cannot play. Haywood is a backup anywhere else. Stevenson hasn't hit a shot in years. Boykins wasn't even a star in Italy last year. Am I missing something about Mike James and Nick Young? Do I have to mention how people though Paul Pierce was selfish and overrated before he got together with Garnett and Allen? But now, Ra on "No J" Rondo is better than Gilbert Arenas because he has the good fortune of playing with three HOFers?
