Reports: Guns drawn in argument
NEW YORK -- Washington Wizards teammates Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton drew guns on each other during a Christmas Eve locker room argument over a gambling debt, according to The New York Post.
Last week, the Wizards and Arenas acknowledged that Arenas had stored unloaded firearms in a container in his locker, and the NBA said it was looking into the situation.
It was during that investigation that a confrontation between Arenas and Crittenton was revealed, according to a Yahoo! Sports report.
The dispute stemmed from an unspecified disagreement, sources told Yahoo! Sports.
Citing an anonymous source, the Post reported in Friday's edition, however, that the standoff was sparked when Crittenton became angry at Arenas for refusing to make good on a gambling debt.
That prompted Arenas to draw on Crittenton, who then also grabbed for a gun, league security sources told the Post.
Asked by the newspaper about the confrontation, Arenas denied pulling a gun on Crittenton.
The Wizards on Friday afternoon released a statement regarding the alleged confrontation: "The Washington Wizards take this situation and the ongoing investigation very seriously. We are continuing to cooperate fully with the proper authorities and the NBA and will have no further comment at this time."
"This is unprecedented in the history of sports," Billy Hunter, executive director of the NBA players' association, told the Post. "I've never heard of players pulling guns on each other in a locker room."
On Dec. 24, the Wizards had issued a statement addressing Arenas' storage of unloaded firearms in a container in his locker at the arena and that the NBA was looking into the situation.
On Tuesday, Washington, D.C. police said they were investigating a report that weapons were found inside a locker room at the Verizon Center.
Now, the federal government is also involved. Ben Friedman, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Washington, D.C., told the Post "we're working with the Metropolitan Police Department on the investigation."
I dont know about you guy bu this sounds like the tightest group of ballers any where in the NBA.

Wow, thats just stupid....grown men pointing guns at one another over a bet...
What if one of them accidentally had pulled a trigger, it could of been a hell of a christmas with one teammate dead, and the other in jail...
For there own sake, i hope this story isnt as bad as it sounds...
yeah this is just awful. the players are both millionaires and arenas is due 100 million but my goodness. they are arguing about pennies
No wonder the Wiz have had such little team chemistry this season. I thought they changed their name from the Bullets to prevent this kind of thing. ZING!!!!!!
This is craziness....lets hope its not true
This is just more proof that, that team needs to be broken up... Before the kill each other... Literally.
Remember when Areanas beat out DeShawn Stevenson for about $120,000 during an after practice session a couple of years ago. This isn't good for the team.
I remember when Stackhouse puched Christian Latener in the face while betting aboard a plane during a card game, but pulling straps...Wow.
Dhamp2.....HAPPY NEW YEAR.
I guess Arenas found out that online poker he plays isn't as easy as the real thing.
Pretty stupid but it shows gilbert thought he was about to get his a$$ kicked so he pulled his pistol
these dudes are stupid. Pulling a gun over a bet on your teammate is some coward stuff. You know you aren't pulling the trigger so you think this will keep you from getting beat up and make you look tough. Gil is making like 20 mill a year and he is gonna shoot his teamate, yeah right. Also, on real note if you get into a fight and things happen, you can get over that and still be teammates. Now you pull a gun on me and that's some real life stuff right there. That's some real beef if you think you are gonna threaten my life with a weapon that way.
not only has gilbet arenas let down all his fans and the wizards down, but the kids that look up to him as well. he has basically dig a hole in his career for doing this. you think the nba is gonna let him slide and suspend him for 10 games. no. i think gilbert will be suspended for the rest of the season.
interesting point truth that i wasn't even thinking about. If the league or police or whoever is investigating this concludes that Arenas pulled a gun on his teammate in the locker room, that should equal a one year suspension no question. Artest hit a fan, Latrell choked his coach and to me pulling a gun on a teammate is just as bad as those two.
how are they even getting guns in the locker room? where im from when you pull a pistol the goons are coming out. for gilbert to have so much money he should have just gave him the money dude is only a bench player. Where is this SOFT dude from?
No doubt about that... If this is proven to be true, BOTH of them should be banned from the NBA for a full season. This was ridiculous.
I met Gilbert Arenas while he played for Arizona. He was roommates with Jason Gardner (North Central graduate) during their freshman years at Arizona and he came to North Central High School in Indianapolis with Gardner during the summer. He seemed like a really good person with good character. I'm surprised by this.
