martell webster

im not sure there is anyone left who still thinks martell webster can be a productive NBA player...as soon as outlaw and batum return, webster will find himself as the 3rd small forward and after his contract runs out he should be on his way out. He has upset the city of portland with his constant underachievements and shocked the NBA world with his lack of production despite his physical gifts and talents...martell is turning into the next dermarr johnson, teasing us with ridiculous skill then disappearing...portland could REALLY use a 3rd scoring option right now but instead he's only producing 8.2 ppg and shooting 37.8% from the field...hes from seattle just like me and i heard hes a cool guy its just upsetting he didnt go to UW like he should have

Well... He did break the

Well... He did break the same foot twice last season. He missed the entire summer with the broken foot and then broke the same foot the first game he played. He missed the rest of the season. This is only his 4th year in the league... 34 games played so far. Give him some time. He just turned 24.

I agree on both sides. Right

I agree on both sides.

Right now, he's just 24 years old. He has time to develop.

I think you cannot count on him as more then a defender and a shooter

If you can turn him into a defensive specialist...it would help in the long run

I think he's got the ability

I think he's got the ability to be a great defender as well. He's got the tools. He plays good whenever I watch him play, however I don't watch Portland play alot. He's always been inconsistent though.

He definitely has all the

He definitely has all the tools to be a great defender. Portland uses him as a spot up shooter on offense, BUT... He can do more than that. Before the foot injury, he was showing the ability to put the ball on the floor and finish above the rim. He has that ability. He's shown it at times this season. He just needs to revive that confidence he had before the foot injuries. I still think he has a chance to be a very good player in this league.

I do too. He showed the

I do too. He showed the ability to play above the rim early in the season, and to be honest, I didn't think of him as an above the rim player before that. I thought he was going to have a breakout season after I watched him play against the Nuggest at the beginning of the year...

martell has been really

martell has been really inconsistent and it is puzzling because there is no doubting the skills. He has a great stroke and is athletic can defend and attack the rim. All the pieces are there but when i look at the box scores he is just not producing the numbers he should considering the minutes he's getting with everyone out. BUt to say outta the league as soon as his contract is up is way too harsh.
