When will the hating stop and people give this guy credit for being the real deal? People need to stop judging him on what they've heard and give this guy credit for doing everything right since he's stepped on campus. By the end of the year he will be a lottery pick
Not saying you're wrong, but that's a push. He should be a 1st rounder at this rate. The Big East has some great players on the wing this season Wesley Johnson, Devin Ebanks, Stanley Robinson, etc. Though just because I say he is a first rounder does not mean he should enter. He needs to improve upon his shooting at the line 60% and his 20% behind the arc. Though he does have a pro body, he does not have a pro game. He should stay another season in college if he wants to be a Lotto Pick. I still question his character.
If he's not a lotto pick, alot of teams that pick the Ed Davis' and Stanley Robinson's of the world will wish they'd picked him in the lotto. He's going to have a very good pro career for someone scoring the ball. I don't see what there's not to like about him as a player. He's has all the tools except limited athleticism, and even that's aided by his long arms. His attitude has gotten better as he's no longer playing with players that make "high school" mistakes on the basketball court, and possibly the fact that he's no longer bigger than everyone else haha. I think he's going to be a reasonably good player on the court in terms of his attitude in the NBA, but he may run into trouble of the court once or maybe twice in the NBA before he straightens out...
Is going to be a very good pro...I agree on Stanley though lol.
doesnt have a pro game?..have you watched this guy?..his shot needs work but youre wrong on he doesnt have a pro game. i do agree he needs to stay another year though. most of the players do ed davis included but they probably wont
A pro game is more than having a ready-made body as you know. He has a ready-made NBA body, but I do believe to have a pro game it is more than the body a player has. I guess I was being a bit harsh saying he doesn't have a pro game, because I did not mean it like that. I meant it more as he needs to work on his shot and also get to the line. I want to see Stephenson consistently getting to the line 8-10 times a game. I want to see around 1/3 to 40% of his scoring at the stripe.
So because of the fact that he has an inconsistent jumper that means he doesn't have a pro game?
More to it, I think he needs to continue maturing as a person on the college level to prove to the scouts he isn't a head case. Scouts will be weary about his past, and he will have to show the scouts that he is not that person anymore and will make which ever team that selects him proud.
he has a load of talent on offence and so far this year he has been good on defence. he should be a first round pick and mabye a lottery pick if he plays good in the tourny
People on here always hate on him they must be one of the lil guys that he was bullying in highschool
I think he's a better shooter than his percentages show. I've seen him go on long stretches where it looks like the basket is as wide as a trampoline and he's throwing in nickels.....
Its not like he cant shoot he just doesn't tale great shot all the time. People dont just give him space to shoot cuz they respect his shot
The more I actually watch Lance, the more impressed I am, hes legit...
The physical tools are there, NBA body, NBA strength, his athleticism isnt quite there, but i still think his his athleticism is underrated
Im still not sure about a lottery pick though...i see him late first, 15-25 will be his range.
Question: At the prime of his career, how good will he be?
Great 2nd option? Great 1st option?
If he stays another year at Cincy I am guaranteeing he will be a top 10, maybe top 5 pick in 2011.
On prime of his career it is way too earlier to say because we have to see who he plays along side in his career. His height is of a 2, but his size is of a 3. I don't know though, it will be a while b4 I can say where he will be. Get back to me in 2-3 years. When he has a year or so in the NBA.
He will more likely than not be a 2 in the NBA b/c of his height, but I do not doubt he can guard any 3 in the NBA, his body is freakin diesel. Guys will be thinking twice about taking a charge when he hits the lane.
I think he can be a good 1st option player. As I've said before, I think he can have a Paul Pierce type career in the NBA. He may need some good players around him, which Pierce didn't always have in his career, but he can be just as good as Pierce if he gets some good players around him. Look what it has done for Pierce right now. He's the 1st option for Boston, and that's even with H.O.F players like Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett on his team....I think he can give a team at least 20 ppg, solid rebounding and passing. And intense defense to go with it. Sounds like a lottery pick level player to me.....
Lance Stephenson I think will be a great defender in the NBA is size is going to wreak havoc on smaller guys who he can keep up with his speed. I would like for him to stay another year in college, but I would like that from everyone, but that's a whole other topic.
Please dont compare Lance Stephenson to Paul Pierce... He isnt going to have a Paul Pierce type career because he isnt going to be a HOFer nor is he going to put up Paul Pierce numbers, you are seriously overrating Lance Stephenson.. No doubt he is a solid freshaman with a TON of room to grow if he continues to work on his game he might end up being a solid starter or borderline all star but to say he will be a go-to player on a championship team is going a bit too far.. Pierce was a killing (24ppg 6reb 4asst) before Garnett and Allen came aboard hence SHAQ giving him the nickname "The Truth."
in a way youre right billy you cant say hes gonna be like paul but you cant say wall is gonna be real good either because no one knows what a player is gonna do in the future. you can say you think he has the potential to be because just like i dont know if hes gonna be that good you also dont know that hes not gonna be that good. thre are plaenty of players who people didnt think were gonna be that good coming out of college or even hs. as far as not getting to the line enough or on a pro level lets take a look at that.
wesley johnsomn has taken 41 attemps
lance has taken 37. no is not alot but since he doesnt take alot of shots i dont really expect him to get to the line as much as say a john wall or damion james or other stars of there team. im sure if cincy told him to score more he would get to the line more
In a system that caters to his skills people would be talking about this guy as a top 10 pick he's just in a system that hide some of his best skills yet he is still playing good ball
Lance Stephenson only knock is his attitude and vertical ability. I haven't seen a problem in those areas yet. I bet Demar Derozen wish he had Stephenson handles. Players won't be able to keep him in front of them.
