Dhamp2: Is Jamison a hall-of-famer?

Let's end the year with something I find interesting. Is Antwain Jamision a hall-of-famer??? Is he the most overlooked superstar in the league? Is he even a superstar? This bothers me. This is his 12th season and he's the only one from the 1995 draft still putting up these types of numbers....20 pts and 8 reb.
For starters, I've always said he should have been a max contract player becaues every year he gives you 20 pts and 10 rebounds. Expect the year in Dallas when he accepted coming off the bench. Players who average 20 pts and 10 reb are a comodity in the NBA. Maybe seven or eight players may do that each season. But he isn't a hall-of-famer.....Excellent player, but not the HOF. I count he's had four HOF seasons. He could of had two more had he played more games in that season. If he continues to play good this season, I'll give him five. My main problem with his is that he's never won a championship. He's hasn't had much success in the playoffs at all. Had he put up these numbers on contending teams, I would vote him in the HOF. He's also one of the most overlooked players in the league. I would make him the number 1 option in Washington than Gilbert Areans, who I like very much. Anyway, that's my take on Jamison....Any thoughts.

Wesley Johnson is a top 10 pick
Anyone remember Ryan Blackwell???
I still like San Deigo State's chances in the Mountin West Conference

Well for starters he's from

Well for starters he's from the 1998 draft not the '95 draft. And his numbers are great, he was a 24-25 ppg player in Golden State, then the sixth man of the year in Dallas, and now he is a consistent 20-10 guy on a confusing Washington squad. A championship would really help his cause if he's gunning for the hall of fame, but Antawn is a real loyalist so I don't see him leaving the Wizards unless they trade him, then again I believe he has a no trade clause. I could be mistaken though. All in all he does get one award in my book, being the most consistent player on the Wizards haha even though that's no really saying much these days.

Sorry about the memory loss.

Sorry about the memory loss. I hate using google or other websites for my info, I prefer to go off memory. With that I confused Sheed/Stackhouse of 95 with Jamison and Carter. Anyway, with 16,000 points, I can't put him in the HOF.

Well you have to think about

Well you have to think about his career as a whole, he's only been the first option a couple of years in his career so that is the main reason behind only having 16,000. I have no idea how many points Kevin McHale scored but he played a similar role to what Jamison has done for most of his career, yet McHale is in the HOF. The difference: championships and playing with 3 other future HOF's in Bird, Walton, and Parish.

Exactly. Had Jamison put up

Exactly. Had Jamison put up these numbers on contending teams, I would have him in the HOF. But, he's always been on bottom feeder teams. He never willed his teams to victories.

hes not the only one from

hes not the only one from that draft class still putting up good numbers buddy. Dirk is averaging 25 pts and 8.5 rebs, Vince is averaging 19 pts 5 rebs 4 assists, and i see them making the hall of fame before he ever does

well you shouldnt just go

well you shouldnt just go off memory imo because you wanna make sure youre right instead of guess work. thats how it is in life as well. as far as antwan i think if he was doing this on a team that won a title or was always a contender int he playoffs then maybe he would be considered. but since he has been on average to slightly above average teams then nope it wont happen. thats pretty muh the best way to look at it. p.gasol will get consideration now because hes with a great team but if he would have stayed on the grizz no one would be saying hes the second or best big man in the game or a consistant allstar even though his game hasnt changed much from the grizz to the lakers

I don't see Jamison as a

I don't see Jamison as a Hall of Famer. I don't have a bunch of reasons, but I will say this. You have to do more than Jamison does to be a Hall-of-Famer. He's never been a good defender, he not known as a guy that makes his team better, and he's never been past the 2nd round of the playoffs. He's a great offensive weapon, but he's more of a 2nd or 3rd option player than a Hall-of-Fame level player to me. Nothing about him separates him from others enough for him to be that level a player...

what has he really accomplished? he scored a lot on some crappy teams and isn't a great rebounder. if he is a hall of famer so is Zach Randolph

I like that last one the I

I like that last one the I in win. By the way, very cleaver name. I wish I had thought of that. Not bad bro. Do you post fairly often???

So, it's settled, Jamison isn't a hall-of-famer. I didn't think he was, but because he's a nice guy, I was giving him consideration.

JAMISON

love his game, and he is very underrated. He has always been solid and has had a more then respectable career but he wont make the cut for the HOF. has a soft spot for me being a tarheel
