CAA Basketball

Still very early in the season, but I will be hurt to see if only one CAA team makes it in to the tourney this year. The CAA this year is legit and the teams are gonna beat up on each other like crazy. Kinda find it like the Big East of Mid-Major basketball for this year.

Top Teams:

ODU: was predicted to finish first in the conference, and have one legit win beating Gtown @ Gtown. They also destroyed Charlotte which is not a bad team by 33 points. Led by a stud down low Gerald Lee...

William and Mary: I hate to say it but William and Mary are for real, and I am absolutely stunned that they are this good. They just know how to play smart basketball. They are not gonna wow you but they are gonna play hard and make it close. REAL TEAM BASKETBALL...Legit wins against VCU, @ Wake Forest, also beating Richmond (this team is pretty good mid-major school this year year. Look at their schedule impressive wins including @ Florida) Tough next game @ Maryland.

VCU: Everyone knows about Larry Sanders and VCU. They have impressive wins agaisnt Nevada, Oklahoma and Richmond. Lets see if this team can keep up with their expectations. Watch out Wake Forest transfer Jamie Skeen is coming in this semester and is expected to be an awesome one-two punch in the post with Sanders. Lets see if their guards can give Larry and Skeen enough help to push them to the top.

Teams to look out for:

Hofstra is a very solid team, just had a tough non-conference schedule and made it close with good teams like UConn, St.John, and Charlotte looks like they gonna have to run the tables to get in at this point..

George Mason: Wow is all I can say after watching this team blow their lead to Villanova in the closing seconds....tough losses to Villanova and Georgia Tech....lost some games they should of not lost...Solid team disappointing losses.

Georgia State: Nice 1,2 guard duo, not much of a resume to talk of right now...

Northeastern, JMU and Drexel disappointing as of right now.

I just kinda started following CAA basketball because I went to GMU and VCU.

well wutever

You know I am also a huge CAA fan as a student at Hofstra. I have to disagree about us being the Big East of the Mid-Majors b/c we're not even the best Mid-Major and rarely send multiple teams to the dance.

ODU: They're the best team b/c of what they returned, but the win against Charlotte I was not that impressed by b/c they seemed to have a very off night, still a great win.

W&M: The true surprise team of the conference. I believe they were predicted to finish 10th and they have played UConn hard this year losing by 9, on top of there quality wins. Though, heading into conference play it's a whole new ball game.

VCU: I question how good they'll be w/o Maynor and Grant, the chemistry won't be the same. Still a strong team.

Hofstra: Being biased since it's my team. Though, this squad looks great the freshman class of 6 (4 really one is a redshirt the other a walk-on). Is indescribably better than last season's senior class. Chaz Williams can easily make a case for CAA ROY. Charles Jenkins is the best player in the Conference. For Hofstra to win the CAA the big men have to come through if the big men shut down the other team's big men the guard play will take care of itself.

Agree on your other 2 teams to watch out for, as well as your disappointments.

Hopefully with players like

Hopefully with players like Sanders and Maynor going into the nba and VCU and GMU's run in NCAA tournaments will give the CAA more national spotlight and help the recruiting. The CAA have produced some great coaches as well. Even though we are not the best mid-major we definitely are one of the better ones, and we are on the rise as conference. GMU and VCU have been adding more highly ranked recruits as well as getting nice transfer players from big schools. I hope we get two teams in this year's tourney, I think I maybe wrong one year we got two or three teams in a couple years back. I remember espn talking bout how possibly the CAA could get four bids which is pretty ridiculous for a small mid-major. Gonna be really fun to see how conference play goes. I was comparing with the big east because I thought the amount of solid teams in the conference a lot of depth. LoL at this state i think we could give the PAC-10 a run for their money.

well

W&M pulled off another quality win defeating UMD on the road. I am pumped for the game against Hofstra on Saturday.
