How high is Durant's ceiling? Where does his potential end?

Individually he has shown the NBA a lot and he is only in his 3rd year. I've heard talks about considering him for MVP, he is 1 of my favorite players and already talks for MVP? I don't deny his talent but he's still young. What do you think?

ceiling is unlimited when it comes to scoring the basketball.. he is so tough to guard because of his length

could be a top defender.

Offensively he's so good, it's scary to think that he has more potential to tap....With his combination of length and athleticism he could be a top tier perimeter defender. I guess the defense will come with age and experience.

Nope

He will never surpass LeBron...Not even close for that matter. His ceiling is top-5 player in the league.

if he becomes a better

if he becomes a better defender he would be a top three player in the league. also he isn't a great passer so if he picked that up he would be damn near unstopable

True

I just don't see Durant ever being a good defender. At the point in his career he is down right bad at defense....It will get better, but at best he will be an average defender...That's me though.

His potential as a scorer is

His potential as a scorer is unlimited. That's all I can see right now.

I don't see him being a better player than LeBron. It's funny how hard people criticize LeBron considering he's only 24 years old. LeBron's game is far from complete, but look how he's dominated the NBA. I honestly don't think LeBron has a ceiling. LeBron is an athletic freak of nature... Probably the best athlete in the history of the NBA. There isn't much he can't or won't be able to do. He's FAR from being a finished product.

When Kobe retires and LeBron takes the title as the best player in the league... He's going to own that title until he retires.

what does that have to do with Kevin Durant? Anyway, Kevin has no ceiling. His defense will get there and its decent now just because of his length, he could be MVP a year or two from now, but he is only 21, he hasn't reached his potenial, he coud be even bettwer in the paint if he gets a little bigger-and that equals more points and rebounds

Lebron is good but not untouchable

Lebron is good but not untouchable, Durant has the ability to close the gap on the King

What did everything I wrote have to do with Kevin Durant? Someone above me said that his ceiling was the best player in the NBA. Another person above me then said they didn't see him being better than LeBron James. I added on to that. You should read a little... It's good for you, plus you might learn something.

As a scorer Durant can maybe

As a scorer Durant can maybe pass Kobe. Lebron is more of a well rounded play maker and his scoring skills are pretty basic but he is bigger and faster than most. Durant has a scoring skill set on that of Kobe's and i could see him adding a better inside game to go with his perimeter play and being almost unstopable. His body is still getting stronger so the sky is the limit for him. Even if his defense is average, he has length for days and they will cause most offensive player problems.

Numerous scoring title's

and maybe a couple of MVP's if the Thunder can keep their core of young talented players. I agree to the poster who said he will never be able to be proclaimed as the best player in the NBA simply because Lebron will keep that title for as long as he's playing, and they're only about 3-4 years apart from each other. Lebron's hype >>> Kevin Durant we can all agree on this.

Durant is an amazing scorer, who can score in a variety of ways. He also has a knack for getting to the free throw line (which great scorer's do) . That's where the buck stops on him. I'm not calling him a one trick pony, because a player like him will always be amongst one of the best players in the NBA, but as of right now, he's known for being a great scorer.

Can he develop into a solid defensive player? Can he average double digit in rebounds per game? Sure, but that isn't what he's all about right now. He's carrying the scoring load for the Thunder, and that's what he does best.

Durant

Is younger than Lebron right now and his scoring ability is better. Lebron has a better overall game, but damn how can you say Durant can't touch Lebron at any point. Lebron is a beast, but you people act like he got 4 rings. Lebron is the better player now, but Durant will get Better he is what 21?

You can't say it'll only be

You can't say it'll only be LeBron and Durant. You don't know what other young player will come up through the ranks.

Really?

So you don't think players like Rudy Gay, Tyreke Evans, Brandon Jennings, Derrick Rose, OJ Mayo, Eric Gordon, Blake Griffin will continue to improve and make a case for themselves?

I'm not even going to speak on the players who aren't in the league yet, but you can always count on 1-3 players coming into the league who have that "NEXT" labeled with them.

How is Durant's scoring ability better than LeBron's? LeBron would average 35-40 if he wasn't so unselfish.

Durant can shoot better (even though LeBron shoots a better FG% and 3-PT%), but LeBron's driving ability is literally unstoppable... Plus he's a good shooter.

No limit

Keven Durant is a very explosive scorer, he cant compare to Lebron because Lebron can do more and did more at 21 then did Durant. Kevin Durant no question will get at least a MVP or 2 when his career is over.

it will be interesting to

it will be interesting to watch when the Lebron and Durant get older. I wonderf which one becomes more successful with their athleticism declining with age.
