i saw some old post and heated disscussions about these 2 teams. they both are trying and still under .500 with there big men leading the way. mayo and gordan are pretty much playing the same with mayo scoring a lil more and shooting a better percentage. mayo started kinda slow while gordan started very hot and now they both have evened off. chris is playing like a monster and baron has been playing pretty well. i think both teams are on there way up and are teams to watch for the future
if mike conley can give them solid minutes at the point then memphis has a nice future and if L.A. can mesh with blake griffin then the certainly have some things to look forward to
I was heated when hasheem was drafted, mad they didnt take harden or brandon yes even tho he didnt have the clout other players had they needed a pg so why not and im rite the starting 5 carrol, jamal, young at times and hasheem is the roatation there starting 5 has to play most the game not getting any real rest with the nba schedule knowing your players lay better when rested they shold have went after a gaurd last years draft and a big this year carrol and young good pick ups there solid at the sf spot but other then that no production from the bench memphis is doing an ok job tho fighting for a playoff spot 2 years after trading there franchise player and hasheem is a good pick up huge and stronger then when he faced blair but come on passing on harden and jennings to draft hasheem then trading for zach? i love randolph but this makes drafting hasheem pointless you dont draft someone number 2 to ride the bench most of every game but i geuss they want conley and mayo to get all the pt they can get now to get bette
you do if the player is a project.. it was a good pick because the grizz are young and by the time they are really a threat he shoul dbe ready to either produce or be a very good trading chip.
key word "projects" you dont draft projects at number 2 nor number 1
you draft sure things at number 2
and memphis were out the rebuilding stage once they got randoplh
they are trying to get in the play offs and improve ticket sales they are ready to ball but that pick was suspect
yea the hasheem thing can turn out well but wat if it doesnt and what if gasol and zach keeps leading the memphis to be number 1 in the league in points in the paint
you cant play all 3 plus they have steven hunter who fits that hasheem and dalmbert mold and Haddadi who is also new to the game like hasheem
you would have got more drafting a gaurd
they dont have a second shooting gaurd!!!!!!
conley and brandon would have been a nightmare dou at the point
when mayo goes to the bench there shooting gets bad they could have grabbed harden
you draft sure things at number 2 not projects hasheem wont be an all star cal player brandon and harden might be
why dont you draft projects that high?..most highschool guys are projects. and true in hindsite they could have drafted some of the other players but they were set as far as starters at each position. they want thabeet to eventually become a mutombo type player and i think he will. plus no one out side of blake was considered a sure thing. i mean in hind site if everyone knew what they know now alot of players would have went to different teams
touted. evans, curry, flynn, harden, rubio were all house hold names ...brandon jennings was at the top of most mock drafts last year we knew this draft would have soild starters not super stars I never got the whole 2009 draft being weak thing.
"why dont you draft projects that high?..most highschool guys are projects"
high school guys yes number 1 number 2 picks no
if the raptors didnt think andrea was the real deal he wouldnt have been drafted if the bucks thought bogut was a project he wouldnt have went before chris paul or deron
bogut nor andrea arent living up to expactions but they are far from projects
they are starters who will get that big time pay for years to come
what does hasheem do that a player like chris anderson ,steve hunter ,theo ratliff and sam dalmbert dont do
I will never see hasheem as a post player or a threat other then on defense blocking shots he has poor footspeed
nba gaurds take him off the dribble easily ,,,blair destroyed him
but he is a project I think memphis should have took a gaurd tho
how much could it have hurt to take jennings if conley was struggling and not living up to the memphis expactions of a #4 pick
im not saying i would have done what they have but i understand. its no different then when teams pick a guy who wont contibute untill farther down the road over a guy who could contribute now. it will happen next year with derrick favors it happened in the past. its easy to say right now that its dumb but what happens in a couple of years when thabeet is a force?..in the draft you take that chance. actually in every sport teams take that chance with top 2,3,4,5 picks
i woulda taken tyreke over all over em
mayo and reke in the backcourt with conley off the bench, but if u look at it
conley is a pass frst point guard on a team with 3 scorers and gasol the glue guy
if we woulda drafted jennings and he housted up as many shotsas he does the chemistry woulda been horrible.....thats just my take, i think they getting to what they need to do to win games now, working the offense thru gasol and randolph(mostly randolph) if he's not doubled its 2 points
i forgot to comment about the 2 player son the team..gordan and mayo..earlier people were dogging mayo saying hes playing bad and not as good as last year and now gordan is playing about the same as how mayo was playing..does that mean gordan is underachieving and playing bad?. he showed no ill effect of the injury he had when he came back scoring and shooting so there shouldnt be a excuse about that
until he beats him head to head a .8 difference in ppg doesn't mean anything.
what about efficiency. im not sure if youre big on that but alot of people on here are
forgot to mention that bynum out played kahman head to head as well as winning so according to youre head to head standards bynum is the better of the 2
