Commercial Appeal reports Grizzlies & Warriors talking TRADE...ELLIS FOR CONLEY

The Warriors lost to the Grizzlies last night...While talks heats up surrounding guards Monta Ellis & Mike Conley changing addresses..According to the Memphis Commercial Appear the Grizzlies would send Conley,Marko Jaric's cap space and a late 1st round pick (the Lakers pick) to the Warriors for Ellis...Ellis has made no secrets with his desire to play elsewhere..But whut puzzles me is why would the Grizzlies add a shoot 1st point guard when they have 3 capable 20 points scorers in Gay, Mayo & Randolph and add another 1 in Ellis...They need scoring off the bench ..They were hoping to get that by signing Von Wafer..But he failed his physical..Ellis wouldn't be happy coming off the pine and he's not the floor leader this team needs..But adding him will allow Mayo to be a playmaker..This year during games, good things have happen when Mayo start plays...

It would be a good

It would be a good trade.......for any other team.

From the Grizz standpoint.

Why? I hate it for both

Why?

I hate it for both sides........the Warriors are a up and down, out-score you team(which ellis fits in perfectly) and the Grizzlies have more than enough scoring and need a pg that can set up others(Conley)

This bamboozles me

wow

the grizz started off 1-8...and now are 13-15..

The need is for a pass first point guard that can make plays for mayo/gay/randolph/gasol. conely is doing better in the past 5-7 games and his confidence has obviously risen if you've been watching...... and I don't think I'd replace conely with ellis's long contract...we need a play maker, not another scorer.

also, I've noticed mayo passing more this year...even if it doesn't show up in his assist numbers, I'm seeing him free up people....I don't know about this guys..

Yeah makes no sense... The

Yeah makes no sense...

The LAST thing the Grizz need is another scorer...
and Ellis is an up-n-down type of player, in an up-n-down type of offense

and for 1....the contracts dont matchup, Ellis makes 11m, Conley only makes 3

All hype, this was never happening

The Grizzlies, asked about Ellis and it never got futher than that...

From espn insider:

The Commercial-Appeal reports the Grizzlies had trade talks with the Golden State Warriors about Monta Ellis last month, but they were never close to a deal.

The Warriors are willing to trade anyone on the roster, except Ellis.

And here's an excerpt from the Commercial-Appeal

http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2009/dec/23/memphis-grizzlies-vs-go...

"The Grizzlies-Warriors contest might have been a home game for Monta Ellis on Tuesday night if trade talks had gotten serious last month. The Griz and Warriors engaged in mild discussions involving Ellis, an NBA source told The Commercial Appeal.

A potential deal was never close and the sides haven't spoken in weeks regarding Ellis. Reportedly, the Warriors are no longer interested in parting with the fifth-year guard from Jackson, Miss.

The Warriors, however, are said to be willing to discuss just about everyone else on their roster in the wake of a 7-20 season."

Basically this is in no-way happening

Interesting...

Thats very interesting, Nateoak...not that GS wanted Gay but that the Grizzlies wouldn't trade him...I thought it was well known the Grizzlies weren't planning on re-signing Rudy Gay after this season...Does this mean they had a change of heart? Will Rudy Gay now be back in a Grizzlies uniform next year?

If they aren't planning on keeping Rudy, what the hell are they thinking?
