Evans or Rose?
Both are phenomenal talents and really the best of both worlds. Rose is an assist guy while Evans looks to score a little more but both really do everything well. Evans is having a great year and i honestly thought it would take him awhile to get adjusted and im going to admit i was completely wrong about the kings. I thought they would be at the bottom of the league especially with Kevin Martin out and i really think they are the biggest surprise and thats really due to Tyreke Evans. Rose's nagging injury has held him back so far this year. Who would you pick for your team
Rose, of course. He is a legit pg who can score and defend. His jumper has gotten much better and he shows confidence in it now...over the last few games....I like Tyreke but I like Rose more.
Rose has recovered from that ankle injury he suffered in preseason. It's Evans nature to score and Rose has always been a player that prefers to pass the ball. When we look back 10 years from now, I think Derrick Rose will have more wins but intermediate stats - maybe 17 ppg. 9 assist.. Rose has been passive since he played at Beasley elementary on the south-side of Chicago. I covered him in 2001. For a player with so much talent, he rather make others around him better, nothing is wrong with that. Salmons is a poor fit next to Rose. Loul Deng would be better off in a trade to Cleveland for Big Z because he's too high maintenance. I love Joakim Noah because he understands - like Rose - what winning is all about. Some players win games and have a poor stat sheet and get depress; other players - like Noah and Rose - win and have a unimpressive stat sheet, but at the same time they're happy for the W. I don't care about stats because at the end of the day it takes understanding how to win and Rose, Noah understands that concept. Not to be too long but Tyrus Thomas is a interesting player because he shows the potential and if he have a bad game, nine times out ten he'll get distracted. I remember Bulls played Boston early last year and Rose kept penetrating to the bucket. Of course, Rose kicked the ball out to Tyrus Thomas almost 70% of the time and it resulted in Thomas going 1 for 17 from the field. Like I said, their General Manager need to fix the team around Rose's strengths and their goal is to do that. Their plan is to sign Wade - whom hinted he's coming back to Chicago and I wrote a story about that on my blog yesterday.
Two different players... Two different mentalities. Tyreke is a scorer. I have no doubt in my mind that he'll eventually be a 25 point per game scorer in the NBA... I think he can be a 1st option. He has size, strength, confidence and go-to mentality. The only thing I don't like about him is he doesn't have the ability to finish above the rim.
Rose on the other hand doesn't have the mentality to be a 1st offensive option, which isn't necesarily a bad thing. Like my man above me said... He'd rather make his teammates better. I can't see Rose ever averaging more than 20-21 points per game in a season. I think he'd be a perfect 2nd option.
I like both players, but I like Rose better. I think that when he develops a consistent jumpshot, he'll be unstoppable. I love his athleticism, first step, quickness, speed, strength and ability to finish above the rim. I have no doubts that he'll become a top five point guard in the NBA.
Give me Tyreke Evans...I think he'll be one of the very best players in the NBA. Evans has already shown the ability to take over games and be the best player on the floor for long stretches. He's also a bully who's stronger than any other player as young as he is since Lebron...I always knew he'd be a big scoring threat immediately, but I never imagined he'd be as elite and dominant as he's been THIS early...
I'm not as high on Rose anymore, because doesn't have the aggressiveness needed to be one of the absolute best, even though I do think he'll be one of the top 10 PG's in the game when it's all said and done. Top 10 is definitely outstanding, but for someone with the physical gifts Rose has (he's the most physically gifted PG in the basketball at any level IMO.....yes, even more so than John Wall), he should be dominant. As in, he should be the best PG in basketball at some point. I honestly don't see that in him. He's not quite a great playmaker for others and he lacks, as previously mentioned, that intensity and competitiveness to be as good as he should be. That is the only thing holding him back, and it is an obstacle that either you have or you don't for the most part.
totally agree with iguadola9..i like rose but he doesn't have a stronger competitive fire in him than evans imo..if he develops that than rose all the way but for now give me evans
Iggy I have to disagree........Rose, over the last few games, has been totally taking games over in large spurts..
i like Iggy's comment about Evans.Yes i would take him first of all he is just rookie he is one year younger, kid has potential to be leading scorer one day and it's not enough, he can be best rebounding guard he really can defend and his all-around game is so nice that i think he will do a lot of triple doubles....
but i disagree with Rose comment. Finally he is showing his true level he is 20ppg scorer in this league also and he is really good and unselfish PG, defense is one of his weaknesses but he can become 5rebound player and play nice defense..
just Tyreke's 20/5/5 rookie season is more than impressive
