Would the The Thunder be better if they had chosen Lopez over Westbrook
I know its still early in the season...But the Thunder has played well so far...Led by budding superstar Durant and a group of young talented offensive players like Green, Westbrook who is on the verge of becoming an allstar himself..And they have Harden, a rookie who has played well off the bench...It seems to me that they're a good post player away from being a dangerous playoff team....With Brook Lopez playing so well i was thinking would they be better if they had chosen him over Westbrook....I know Westbrook is 1 of the reasons for their success..But Lopez rebounding & post play is exactly whut the Thunder need....Some were expecting them to pick either Lopez or Love with their 4th pick..Many were puzzled as to why Westbrook shot up the draft boards so quickly..Once the season started Westbrook showed the doubters whut the Thunder saw in his play ...While he's a good point guard and still learning the position...He's not a natural pg like Paul or Deron Williams..If they had chosen Lopez last season...They might been in a position this year to have chosen Evans ,Flynn or Jennings...To complete their team
I think this is a fair question, at the time of the draft I would have said no but looking back now it would certainly be interesting.
Whether they drafted Westbrook or Lopez, they still would not have made the playoffs last year leaving them as you said with this year's lottery pick. So really the question is is OKC better off with Lopez and Flynn/Evans or Westbrook and Harden. I think you could make an argument either way.
Lopez/Green/Durant/Thefolosha/Flynn or Evans
Kristic or Ibaka/Green/Durant/Harden/Westbrook
I would actually prefer the Lopez lineup and draft a SG this upcoming draft
so its westbrook and harden vs evans and lopez.
Evans Thabo Durant Green Lopez looks awesome but i really think it was a good decision either way honestly
Westbrook Harden Durant Green and Kristic is nothing to turn up your nose at. And with two first rounders in a draft loaded with big men and a ton of cap space there on the right track to a very complete team
good question but I think OKC may still get their big in this coming draft. And also they felt Westbrook was the right fit at the time. Noone though Lopez would be as good as he is now. It will be interesting to see what will happen when Robin gets closer to Brook as a player since they both are skilled but one favors offense more and the other defense.
This is hard to say, because if they drafted Lopez in '08, they would have a huge need for a PG, and look for one in '09, and everyone is saying Tyreke Evans, but if this was the scenario...i think they would've actually drafted Rubio....and from that point its impossible to predict
very very interesting indeed. might have been a better pick only because of how well the rookie pg have played this year. it a win win though.. like if miami would have taken melo and denver wade
i have never been high on westbrook but he fits perfectly with that team, if they had lopez they would still be good but i think westbrook was the right choice.
just so happens that the lakers play the nets tonight
Chalk up another tally under the "L" column for the Nets, then.
If the Thunder picked Lopez instead of Westbrook, then it's kinda hard to say what would've happened in the future. Lopez would have filled a huge role down low. They might have had a better record last year, which would have cost them a shot at Flynn, Evans and maybe even Jennings. Interesting question, though.
Lopez & Tyreke/Rubio/Jennings > Westbrook & Harden
The Thunder would be better in my opinion with Lopez & one of those other PGs.
