Most impressive freshman
I know a lot of people feel Wall has been the most impressive , but I feel it's Henry and its not all that close and my reasons are Wall is playing great ball but he is also leading a bunch of young talent that hasnt done anything and they will follow him cuz of who he is. Henry on the other hand is leading the best team in the country in scoring and is playing great defense also. He is also on a team with 2 proven players that have won a championship and they are taking a backseat to him which speaks volumes to how good he is as a player. The guy is shooting 55% from the field and 53% from three point range. Im just saying Wall's jobs as a go to guy is easy because he is playing with his peers and patterson is the only proven player on that team but Henry is doing this on a team with college vets. I love the kids game and feel he should be talked about as a #1 pick. I take it back its close but I still like what Henry is doing more tho.
Henry hasn't really shown anything so far, i knew he could shoot and jump but he hasn't done anything else, i'm sure he could but he doesn't have to because his team is so good. on the other side wall has been great and has taken over close games in the final minutes and has shown he is the best freshman by far.
Who has Kansas played? I'll answer that one for you... No one worth 2 sh*ts! Being from missouri, I HATE Kansas. They are always overrated (although they are VERY talented this year) but everyone says 'oh Kansas is so good they blow everybody out by 45!' and I'm sick of it! I love Xavier Henry's game but playing against teams like alcorn state. Once he plays a team even relatively close to Uconn I hope he plays well. Bu until he does, he's not that impressive to me.
Henry is impressive, I'm really impressed on how good his shooting is, but having Cole down low really benefits his jumpshooting, during the LaSalle game where he had 31, LaSalle ran a zone and challenged KU to beat them from the outside....we all know what happened, but Cole has been drawing a lot of double teams early and Henry has been eating it up, but frankly that is is role on the team. They lacked a true scorer last year, a guy who is a lights out shooter at shooting guard/small forward. KU is an extremely well built team and Sherron Collins could be dropping 20 a night, but with Henry there he can finally be a true point guard rather than the guy who has to take all the shots. Henry will most likely be a top 7 or 8 pick this season, but to say #1 even for a KU fan I feel that is a little out of reach, especially for a shooting guard. That being said, the guy is the real deal, he isn't some skinny freshman who is working out growing pains right now, he has an NBA body and a game that will get him pt in the NBA right away, but I still feel Wall is #1 as far as the freshman rankings go, but Xavier is alone at #2 in my opinion.
The most impressive besides Wall has been Henry IMO as well. This is coming from a Kansas State fan too. He has a very mature game and is ready made for the NBA as he is, but the best freshman PROSPECT besides Wall is Derrick Favors.
henry has impressed me with his shooting and how hes leading a team of vet sin scoring but i wouldnt say hes played better then wall because hes also leading a team with a all american on it and hes scoring as well as defense steals and assist. ive been impressed with
I only said i was more impressed with henry over wall cuz we all knew wall would come in and have the green light to do whatever he wanted but nobody expected henry to have the greenlight on a team with 2 COLLEGE all-americans. If he only scored 10-13 points a game this year it would have been a success but he leads the team in scoring and is shooting lights out. Why not take a 2 guard #1 that seems to be a position that if you have one that can take over games you can get pretty far.
I think your logic is a little flawed OP. What Wall is doing should be more impressive BECAUSE he doesn't have an experienced team around him. Henry does and that allows him to not have as much pressure on him and fit in with those experienced guys. Plus, Wall being a PG, he has the ball in his hands more and must be responsible for the other four guys on the floor. That isn't the case for Henry. Plus, to this point, KU hasn't played anyone yet. Henry is a good player no doubt, but your logic is a bit flawed here IMO.
I'm looking forward for Henry to match up against Manny Harris of Michigan on Saturday. In the game KU played against a decent team in Memphis Henry struggled a bit with his shot, but ended with a solid 11 pts 6 rbs and 3 steals, but that was also his second collegiate game. Harris and Michigan should be a good test as should Cal, Tennessee, and Temple all before conference play starts. I am excited to see him and Avery Bradley go at it , too bad we have to wait til February for that one. You guys are right, KU really hasn't played anyone yet, but they will soon and we can see if Henry can keep up, I think he can.
i doubt very very seriously that he will match up with henry or vice versa. he's too big. then again hes not much of a slasher nor does he post so its possible. im curious to see him against jordan hamilton because that kid has a nba game already and his potential is on par with most of these freshmen but hes just not getting the hype
Henry should be matched up with Harris, when Kansas is on defense..Michigan runs that 1-3-1 defense with Harris pressuring the PG or offense initiator
Jordan Hamilton is pretty close to him in size too, that should be a good matchup. I think he and Harris will cross paths, maybe not for the whole game, but Kansas has a big team and Henry plays the 2 sometimes with both Morris' and Aldrich. Maybe thats when Harris will sit, or they'll run the 1-3-1 I don't think it will be a head to head all game, but It will be a step up in competition although I still think LaSalle has a solid backcourt, especially Rodney Green.
