Knicks Sign Jonathan Bender

New York Knicks President of Basketball Operations Donnie Walsh announced today that free agent forward Jonathan Bender has been signed to a contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. “Jonathan has worked extremely hard in preparing himself for a return to the NBA,” said Walsh. “I know him to be a young man of the highest character from my relationship with him that dates back 10 years to his rookie year and I think he will be a fine addition to our team both on and off the court.”

The Picayune, MS-native was selected out of high school by the Toronto Raptors with the fifth overall selection in the 1999 NBA Draft and was acquired by the Pacers on Aug. 1, 1999 in exchange for Antonio Davis.

For real! I like this. JB

For real! I like this. JB was somebody who had a lot of potential before the injuries. Let's see what comes out of this. The news around Indianapolis has been REAL good about him.

I compare this signing to

I compare this signing to the Memphis Grizzlies signing Darius Miles. Hopefully Bender can make a legit comeback.

I really like JB.

You guys are reading to deep

You guys are reading to deep into this, I doubt he gets any playtime unless the things are winning by 20 or losing by 20, being out of the league for that long...hes no where near playing basketball at this level competitively

But regardless, good for him...in the NBA 2nd chances dont come too often, who knows? Maybe he can make something of it..

if he runs the floor and

if he runs the floor and rebounds at a decent clip he can be ok for the knicks, also this gives them something to talk about rather than lebron.

Speaking of...

Speaking of Darius Miles, he didn't play badly last year in my opinion. Is he even playing with anyone this year? Surely the guy at worst could be an 11th or 12th man for cheap for somebody.

i dont think he's

i dont think he's playing..and i think most teams wont sign him because he wont make a big difference and everyone wants to save what lil money they have for the free agents next summer and the lowered cap

Wow, what are the odds. I

Wow, what are the odds. I told someone last week that he may be signed out to the blue, lol.

Dhamp...the greatest basketball mind in the world. Next to Hubie Brown anyway.

Jalen Rose should've made the all-star team at least once.
Anyone seen Glenn Rice Jr. play? Heard he wasn't bad?
Anyone seen Tim Hardaway Jr. play? Heard he wasn't bad.
