The Knicks

The Knicks have won their 4th in 5 and are playing some good basketball, getting contributions from vets like Lee, Hughes, Duhon and Harrington and some young guys in Gallinari and Chandler. Gallo has some serious potential with his dribble game, as he has a great jumper and some nice hesitation moves. The problem is that they're play seems hinged to Duhons ability to consistantly create for others, and I doubt he can maintain it for a whole season. But theres a lotta guys playing for contracts so we'll see if they can compensate with big games out of other guys.

Any thought on the possibility that they play this well against better teams? Or whether the Knicks can continue to play this well against lower level teams. Because if the can they should be able to get to a .500 record by the end of the year. The East isn't good, and some teams hot starts are cooling down, so I'm interested in seeing if D'Antoni can keep his players motivated.

1) Chandler is too soft. I

1) Chandler is too soft. I mean, the guy settles all day long, while he is a slasher-finisher. His jumper is pretty ok, but you'd think he was Peja from the way he shoots it/tries to. He could be much better, but still hes very good.

2) Duhon, simply, is a decent-at-best player, he will get this team no where, he can shoot when open and run a pick n roll, but thats it.

3) Lee at C is a joke.

4)Gallinari is one of the best shooters I have seen in a while, but he also has great playmaking ability and handle, which you mentioned, he too should try to create more off the dribble. But, damn he is good.

Now the question of .500.........................I think they can get pretty close, but they will do no more.

I agree Chandler falls in

I agree Chandler falls in love with his jumpshot too much for someone as erratic as him. This definitely limits his offensive potential, but he's a strong, if over aggressive defender. Lee would be a very good power forward and uses his mismatches on the offense end well. He's just a non factor in low post and as a shot blocker. My main optimism comes from the Knicks finally being in a position where they can move their bad pieces and add all-stars to complement our young talent. Its nice to have financial flexibility to look forward to, as well as some very good free agents.

Gallanari and Lee have been

Gallanari and Lee have been the most consistent throughout. I don't think Lee is all that bad at the Center position.

David Lee

In the Dantoni system, they dont use shot blocker. If Lee at center is a joke, than what is Amare at center a disaster?

It goes hand and hand. In

It goes hand and hand. In any purely offensive system the main goal is to push the basketball and get easy fast break points, Is Lee going to block/intimidate shots to spark a fast break? No. Is he a presence on D? Nah. Point is Dantoni is not even playing his own system right, he needs to move Lee to the 4 and get a Beidrins-like player at the 5.

I think the knicks have

I think the knicks have played surprisingly well the last ten games. It all started with the boston game where they lost on a buzzer beater in overtime. They went on a very tough west coast trip after that, losing to denver in a very close battle, and playing the lakers and magic twice pretty well as well right after that. Now they have won 4 of 5 and most of these wins are against championship contenders. After blowing out the suns, they easily handled the hawks and nets and other than a slight collapse in the third quarter they pretty much dominated the blazers (led by 23 after 3). I think this knick team actually has what it takes to grab an 8 seed (if they dont make any trades to clear cap space)

Told you guys the Knicks

Told you guys the Knicks were a decent team, but all I heard was how bad are the Knicks. Pretty good lately and without Nate & Curry too. Lee has been playing Center for a while and he's done okay. Granted he's at a mismatch against most 7 footers but thats where Curry's size comes into play. Jeffries has done a nice job playing some Center too.

Meanwhile the Blazers they play so slow I don't understand they should be running more esp. with Oden out. With Blakes's 3pt shooting, Roy, Aldridge, Webster you have some athletic players. Playing a half court game without a real post up game just helps the other teams defense. They were so boring on offense I almost fell asleep watching the game and this PG situation is terrible, well at least Bayless got to play he has a lot of talent.
