DAVID STERN SAYS THE NBA COULD HAVE A WOMAN PLAYER IN 10YEARS

first of all im a fan of womens basketball. dont watch it much but i respect what they do. with that said theres no way there will be one in 10,20,30 years in my opinion. the game is much faster, players are alot stronger. th ephysical aspect is where the gap will always be.

a.parker-First of all, I don't see why, other than to say a woman can do it," he said. "But for long term? No way. My sister is a good player and has great skill, but as far as making an NBA roster? No. She's 6-4, which is the average height of a shooting guard. I'm never going to say never.
as most of us know his sister is one of the best women players(if not the best) in the world in candace parker

Why wait!!!! Someone call

Why wait!!!! Someone call Candice Parker!!! She's the female version of Kevin Garnett. Heck, she's better than her brother who plays for the CAVS!!!!!!

Bobby Jackson should've made the all-star team the year Mike Bibby missed half the season. What a rip off.
The NBA wronged Connie Hawkins.
Screaming Stehen A. Smith is back in Philly
Wesley Johnson is a top 15 pick and best transfer in America
I always knew Adam Morrison would suck. He's just like Casey Jacobson, Sam Jacobson, Donta Calabrea (some of you young cats better step it up), Jason Kapono and Trajon Langdon
Tracey McGrady went from nowhere to next Kobe Byrant in one summer in high school

I bet Diana Taurasi could

I bet Diana Taurasi could play point guard in the NBA. She's 6'0 with better handles and shot than most NBA players. She'd have to get Steve Nash shifty though.

id doubt it very seriously.

id doubt it very seriously. we aren't even taking into account that the ball in the wnba is smaller or getting hit in the nba. also how fast do you think she really is?..do you think shes as fast as the average nba pg or is it that she looks like shes as fast as some nba pg because shes faster then most of the wnba point guards? and dont you think it would be a lil harder to get a shot off over a 6'2 and up pg who can either dunk or damn near dunk then it is against a 5'9 and below wnba pg who maybe could grab the middle of the net

I'm sorry, but I seriously

I'm sorry, but I seriously doubt there will ever be a woman in the NBA. the physical differences are just too great. Everyone in the NBA is big, strong and fast, and the game moves at such tremendous speed that a woman would never be able to keep up. I don't mean for that to sound sexist, it's just the truth. Like the article quoted Candace Parker is [probably] the best female player in the world and she'd never make a D-league team, let alone an NBA squad.

Your right on with that post

Also it makes no sense for females to be in the NBA.
Maybe as a Asst Coach, GM, Coach but a player why they have their own league now too.

If it was going to happen it

If it was going to happen it would have already, before the players were getting bigger and stronger. If not in the NBA then at least a lesser league somewhere. Nancy Lieberman, who is conisidered one of the greatest female players ever played in a mens league, and that was not considered a success at all.

that's just funny. Has Stern

that's just funny. Has Stern watched a wnba game? It's not even close right now. I don't see it happening in the next 50 years. And no, neither diana taurasi or candace parker could hang in the nba. I doubt they would seen any pt for a top 25 college mens team.

Honestly it sounds to me

Honestly it sounds to me like Stern is trying to earn brownie points. I'd bet dollars to donuts he doesn't really believe a woman can compete in a mans game. Once again, that's not meant to sound sexist, it's just fact.

Stern

He just said that because he didn't wan't to say anything disparaging about women players. There would have been a bigger story if he said a woman will never play in the NBA. He was being politically correct and supporting the WNBA. He probably doesn't expect it. Maybe someday Memphis or Minnesota or some team struggling to draw fans will sign the LeBron James of the WNBA to draw fans, and play limited minutes as a shooting specialist.

I read an article a while

I read an article a while back that the Tennessee womens team would scrimmage against a select group of UT male college students who played high school ball, but who weren't good enough or decided not to play at the next level. This was probably 8-10 years ago, but if one of the top womens NCAA teams is having good scrimmages against un coached ex high school men's players that doesn't bode well for the top women trying to compete against the top men in the world. I say this with no disrespect either, I think a lot of female players are more skilled and better shooters than a lot of male players, but the size, strength, and speed that NBA players I think would be extremely difficult for a female player to compete with in a game scenario.

joewolf, similar situation

joewolf, similar situation happened with me. After highschool, me and a couple other former highschool players (none of us college caliber) would scrimage against the local JC college womens team. They went on to win the state title in california are were the best team in the state. It was like we were playing against a highschool freshmen team of boys. They were no where close to our level and we had to play at half speed.

This is a joke right, its

This is a joke right, its nothing sexist but that will never ever happen....The level of athleticism and strength is so different that I believe an elite high school team (Oak Hill) could beat the best WNBA team by 20 points....When i was in JV they decided to have us scrimmage our state champion girls varsity team for practice, we were nothing special and completely outplayed them, its just a matter of strength and athleticism being completely different

I'm not being

I'm not being a gender-biased fan here but to have women in the NBA is just plain ridiculous... Candace Parker going up against LeBron? Murder is inevitable... Heck even a 40 year old Jason Kidd would cream the likes of Taurasi and Kobe would make Tamika Catchings cry like a baby... The physical level of the NBA is tougher than all these ladies will ever anticipate... Even a player like Michael Ruffin could stop Lauren Jackson and be his biatch... NBA is a man's game and I am speaking for men here... LBJ was right when he said he isn't sure if the women are ready for the biggest basketball league in the world... WNBA is made for women... Let it stay that way...

No way

The 12th men on an NBA bench are better than the best women players in the world I dont think it would ever happen no woman would ever be able to play in the NBA like most of you said the game is way to fast and a lot more physical than the womans game. The NBDL players would dominate the best women players in the world its just a different type of game. Stern is a smart man he is selling his product telling women they might have a chance to make the league when he knows they have no chance but that will get more women to watch if they think they have a chance to get to the NBA and it will motivate women to get better.
