I understand lowering his comparison but his numbers are pretty good.
He has been overrated on here since day 1. Look for him to continue to drop. I tried to warn you all hahaha.
Look his team is terrible. They are 2-4. They have played a cupcake schedule. Seriously the competition Paul George faces is terrible.
His numbers are nothing great. In fact they are a little disturbing. He is averaging 3 assists but 5 turnovers. That is a pretty bad ratio. Not to mention shooting 44% from the field & 38% from 3 point range against bad teams isn't very impressive.
Yea but Think about it. How many players have been drafted on a bad team?
I say he's not a top 10 pick but from 13-20...I say he's very interesting to look at.
Because this site and other sites do this constantly to keep up interest. Not to mention that as the college season goes on, players stock constantly jumps all over the board. Not to mention that according to teams and many other variables, these mock drafts are an impossible prediction of what might happen. They are here for fun and debate. I guess bringing up that his statistics are "pretty good", comes with the counterpoint that his team is losing to not so stellar competition. Yes, I realize many of the best basketball players have gone to smaller schools, but many of them have not and many of the prospects that go to larger schools fluctuate drastically as well. I am guessing that you factor in the success of many wings at the start of this season along with the fact that Paul George was pretty much put top 5 on potential and through basic summer boredom, than you have him falling on current mock drafts. He is indeed an intriguing prospect, but so were a number of players that end up falling a great deal. Qyntel Woods was top 3 for a long time. Nemanja Aleksandrov, Kosta Perovic, Chris Taft. All potential first picks in mock drafts. I have respect for early margin of error, as I am sure I could not do it better, and for now these mock drafts are basically like a stock board for what is going on this season for these prospects. So, that is my perspective Q.
I don't blame the site for dropping him or anything like that. I understand what you are saying. I just saw the Comparison change then I look at his numbers- they increased and looks good. I feel if your on a losing team...your stock should not go down.
he is nowhere to be found in a game...he doesnt take over and disappears alot YEAH HE SCORES SOME ONES HAS TO
SOME ONE ON THIS SITE SAID HE HAD THE CEILING OF KOBE LOL I DONT SEE IT I HAVE THE SPORTS PACKAGE IN ALL THEY SHOW IS FRESNO
Paul George dropped because he's OVERRATED! He plays for an also-ran school (Fresno State) in an also-ran conference (WAC) and he's not even putting up big numbers. I saw him for the fraud he was from the moment this site tabbed him a top-10 pick last year. Who has he played? Nobody! He's another Patrick O'Bryant in the making. Paul George has "bust" written all over him
yeah this site has always tried a little too hard to find the next big prospect...whether its a player from a small conference or an international player barely getting any minutes
I think he has a chance to be a very good prospect, and pro after that. If you watch him play, it's hard not to get excited about his skill set at all. It's actually quite easy. He's a little rough around the edges and was probably overhyped by this site prior to the season, but next year he could have a big season and be right back in the discussion as a mid-lottery pick. He's got more Rudy Gay to him than Kobe Bryant to me though, even though he's not quite the athlete Gay is, and has a better shot than Gay did when he came into the NBA. I say he's a prospect to look out for, maybe not this year, but definitely for 2011.
My big brother says he needs 2 hit the weights.
I will vouch for his skill level being NBA caliber, T-Mac's shooting ability at 6'8 1/2
He is NOT 6'7 190 anymore, he grew over the summer.
NCAA is a team game
NBA is structured but more wide open, bcuz everybody is heavier footspeed comes into play
see Michael Jordan, Dwyane Wade
footspeed and weight is key when evaluating George, that being said I think George will be a Mikael Pietrus type role player from day one, with potential to be more
Wesley Johnson as well, SG spot is weak in terms of height/weight mismatches
Iguodala, Ray Allen, Ginobili
at 6'8, 6'7 Wes and George should points easy to come by
He does need to get stronger Okeke, he's got a skinny frame but he does appear to be able to get stronger as he doesn't have a narrow frame that would make it hard for him to get bigger like a Corey Brewer or Kevin Durant.
If a young 19/20 year old
Tracy McGrady went to college would he have Paul George's A/T ratio and shooting numbers.
I like T-Mac comparison if he ever pans out. but less prone to passing
I like that comparison too, more than the Rudy Gay and definitely the Kobe ones...George has the potential to be one of the better scorers in the NBA with time..

Tracy Mcgrady? If Tracy McGrady went to college, he would have gone to a top flight school, probably start at the SF position, and would have averaged a double double with a steal and 2 blocks at least. T-Mac was way more athletic, a way better defender, and a far better rebounder. He was longer and had a better skillset in just about everyway. McGrady's one knock was his consistency. And why would TMac average the same Assist to turnover ratio? He's never averaged more turnovers than assists in his entire career. What makes Paul George any different that Qyntel Woods or Darius Miles?
He's potentially a better scorer than both, as he's a better shooter. He might not be a better slasher than them, but he's not that far off, just needs to work on his handles. He also doesn't have the attitude and legal problems those two have, so he'll be far less likely to be pushed out of the NBA without anyone to take him back. He's far different players than those two quite honestly.
Oh, and just because he goes to a smaller school doesn't mean he's not going to be a good NBA player. Look at Danny Granger (New Mexico)
GRANGER WAS GOING TO BE A TOP LOTTERY PICK INJURY CAME INTO PLAY WHERE HE MISSED GAMES AND WAS KIND OF OLDER THEN THE OTHER TOP PLAYERS SO HE SLIPPED PPL KNEW GRANGER WAS NICE
THE TOP 5 PLAYER WHO WERE CHOOSE IN THAT DRAFT OUR STARTERS 3 ALL STAR CAL ....INJURY HURT HIM
LOOK HOW BAYLESS SLIPPED........STARTER
PLUS BAYLESS GETS TO THE FREE THROW LINE AT WILL HOW MANY PLAYER YOU KNOW CAN DO THAT JUST RIP THRU ENTIRE DEFENSIVE SETS
bayless still hasnt done a thing worth note in the nba..he was overrated and he came from a good conference. bayless should have slipped even further
HES OVERATED??? HE LIT THE SUMMER LEAGUE UP
PLAYERS IN THE FOLLWING YEARS THAT BASHED TEAMS IN SUMMER LEAGUE
A.MORROW WHO LEAD NBA IN 3 POINT%
AND THERE GAME TRANSLATES TO THE NBA WELL
BUT YOUR RITE HES HANST DONE MUCH HES ON A WINNING TEAM THAT HAS LOTS OF GAURD HES THE ODD MAN OUT
summer league means damn near nothing for one..adam morrison bashed it too remeber. and the difference is the players you named are actually getting minutes and doing something. you say they are a winning team liek they are one of the top teams or that he has a great player playing in front of him..he doesnt. and no hes not monta eliis at all. you need to at least earn minutes before being compared to a starter who is a star buddy. if hes so good then prove it. its really that simple. isnt that how we judge players?..they have to prove it by taking other players minutes then going out and doing work...bayless gets what 5ppg 3ast ?...how many other players get those same numbers. you can say how good he is till youre blue in the face but if he isnt doing all thses things then what does it matter?..i can say im better then jordan stronger then shaq smarter then bill gates but if i dont prove it then what does it matter?
I watched the game last night against Pepperdine, and Paul George looked like the real deal Holyfield....he had 29 pts on 8-16 from the field (6-10 3's), 5 boards, 5 assists, 2 stls, and 2 blks. Oh, and only 1 turnover. He reminds me of Danny Granger. Both him and Wesley Johnson have some Granger in their games. But Paul George looked legit, even though it was against a team with very few good players. He does need to work on not falling asleep on D though, but he is alright on the ball.
