An argument between me and my stepdad.

Kobe at his best vs. jordan at his best in a game of 1 on 1 does Kobe have a chance?
Not will he win or lose but does he have a chance?
and why?

kobe

kobe doesn't have a chance to win. He'll score on jordan 1/2 as much as jordan would score on kobe.

jordan played extremely good defense

p.s, the words from jordan's mouth I believe was " not a chance "... right? I saw him answer this question at a school assembly.

yeah, he has a chance. as a

yeah, he has a chance. as a matter of fact he has more than a chance. Why does your step dad think someone who scored 81 points in a game doesn't have a chance? Kobe is basically a Jordan clone, with less athletic ability but a better jumper. I still give it to mj but it would be close.

d-grizzly u got that wrong

d-grizzly u got that wrong kobe drop 54 on jordan and jordan said kobe is one of the greatest players of all time and i was wathcing this game in 02 jordan was 39 but kobe didnt take it easy an jordan actually drop 50 on vince carter. Kobe can hold is own people forget kobe has made lst team defense and he can score with the best of jordan would win if they were in their prime but not by much.

Kobe could beat Jordan.  I
Kobe could beat Jordan.  I think most of the time Jordan would win.  It just depends on which one of them gets hot or gets in the zone.

one on one doesnt prove

one on one doesnt prove anything its whose better in the a game situation but as a rookie kobe career high came against jordan he came off the bench to score 33 points dont believe me look it up jordan score 36 though put at the age of 18 u knew kobe was going to be a great player

KObe dropped 30 on Jordan

KObe dropped 30 on Jordan when he was an 18 year old rookie, and Jordan was in his prime.

Would you really say Michael

Would you really say Michael Jordan was in his prime in 1996-1997? I mean, he was 33 years old lol.

Ha ha I remember that game though. That was the 2nd time the Lakers played the Bulls that season... It was in LA. I think Kobe outscored Jordan 30 to 27 and the Lakers won by 16. Shaq was dominate that game and Kobe did well playing off of him.

The first game they played the Bulls though... Jordan dunked on Kobe the first time they ever matched up. This game was in Chicago and the Bulls came back from being down 20 something to win it. Jordan scored 30, but couldn't buy a bucket in the 2nd half. I think he shot like 10-32 that game lol. I have this game on tape.

I don't think a prime Kobe could do anything with a prime Jordan. Jordan was too aggressive, explosive and just too competitive. Jordan would lock Kobe up, while Kobe would struggle to defend him.

it would be fun to watch. I

it would be fun to watch. I don't know who would win, but to say Kobe doesn't have a chance is silly. Jordan was a great defender, but people act like he was some defensive god or something. Kobe has lit up Bruce Bowen and Artest and Battier and numerous elite defenders before. He hits shots that are flat out ungaurdable, it's just a matter of whether or not they go in. Like gatorheels said earlier, it depends on who is hot. When Kobe locks in on defense, he's a lock down defender as well. Neither guy is gonna give an inch.

Bruce Bowen and Shane

Bruce Bowen and Shane Battier are great defenders, but within the team concept. Playing defense in a five on five game vs a one on one game is completely different. In a one on one game, you're all alone out there lol. No help D. No big man to step up and block from the weak side. No refs to bail you out. None of that.

I just can't see Kobe beating MJ in a one on one game. The prime Jordan could do everything better than the prime Kobe, except shoot from 3P range and handle the ball. It'd be a very interesting game, but I just don't think in a one on one setting, Kobe could do much to stop Jordan from scoring.

I remember Kobe was knocking

I remember Kobe was knocking down ridiculous fadeaway jump shots over Ronnie Brewer in the Playoffs last year. Brewer was all up on him.

It would be a great match up

It would be a great match up and Kobe has a chance and if they played 10 games i would give 4 to kobe and 6 to MJ in their prime. Jordan is more athletic but Kobe is longer i think and is a better jump shooter and is actually has more moves than Jordan because Kobe had all of Jordan moves plus some before his prime but that is mainly because Jordan came first.

This will be a never ending

This will be a never ending debate. Older people, most of the time will call Jordan while younger people will say stuff like the competition was down and the game has changed and go on and on and say Kobe. To be honest, it doesnt matter. We will never be able to go back and try this, and we will never see 2 great players go 1 on 1. Im not bashing this debate or anything, I like to read what people say, but these guys are defiantly 2 of the greatest and have dominated pretty much their entire careers.

When Kobe scored 33 vs.

When Kobe scored 33 vs. Jordan the Bulls won by 20 and Kobe scored most of his points during wash up time while Jordan was watching actually, so don't make it seem like they went head to head and Jordan lost in that game his rookie year

and oh yeah i actually say

and oh yeah i actually say 8-2 in a 10 game series in Jordan's favor cause besides all the attributes Jordan was just a hungrier competitor that would give him an even bigger edge.

thats just my opinion though

another question

If detroit took melo instead of darko, could we argue that billups, hamilton, melo, sheed, and big ben could still be together to this day?

this is off topic but i wanna see what people have to say

Prince for multiple 6th man

Prince for multiple 6th man of the year awards??? They probably could have rivaled some of the great teams like the Mavs that won 69 games or something.

This debate will go on and on... No doubt... But Michael Jordan will always be the Greatest in my eyes...
Everyone can get good points as to why Kobe would win or why Michael could win...

Let's just change this debate into who could win one on one: Craig Ehlo or Michael Jordan... I am pretty sure all of us will have a very good answer...LOL

Kobe wouldnt have a chance..

Kobe wouldnt have a chance..

1. Kobe may of had more range than Jordan, but Jordan is arguably the greatest mid range shooter of all time that was his bread and butter and he would play the game from 18 feet and in.

2. Jordan was a superior defender and I think he was a more physical defender than Kobe. I dont think Kobe could match Jordans defensive intensity.

3. One game of one and one high pressured situation I think Jordan is coming at Kobe hard body (game in game out there was no better competitor in NBA history and us resume speaks for itself).

Of course

Kobe has a chance against any player. It depends on which is having a better day shooting. Both would score almost every time on the other. This isn't just like a clear out, they have the entire court. Kobe isn't at Jordan's level at a player yet: Jordan was even better in post, he played better defense, and he was more clutch. Kobe has missed a lot of game winners and big shors in his career. He seems to get a pass on his misses from media and fans. He is great in the clutch, he just has faltered, such as missing free throws in Finals when they lost to Celtics.

oh yeah and I think some ppl

oh yeah and I think some ppl think Jordan's prime was in like 96 or somethin.. from 88 to his first retirement there was not a chance of stopping him, choose any season between then and im sure Jordan has the edge
