Would this be a ok deal?
Sacramento: Kenny Thomas & Donte Greene
New York: Eddy Curry & Wilson Chandler
Someone was talking about it on another forum...wanted your opinion.
donte greene has too much upside for the kings to let him go right now...also he reminds westphal of Rashad Lewis and westphal loved Rashad back in his old sonics days and hes one of the kings best defenders and a match up problem cuz he can shoot and post up
It is extremely valuable to have a player, aka Kenny Thomas, coming off a huge contract at the end of this year. A lot of teams are likely to inquire about a trade for him because they can use it to free up cap space, to stop some of their bleeding because they have so much payroll, and because they are looking to get rid of a problem player and not have to take on another one. With so many big name free agents out there for this coming summer, Thomas is looking pretty valuable to a lot of teams, which is why you hear rumors about trades involving him and Dalembert, or him and Okafor. I would be extremely annoyed with the Kings if they went after Curry, I honestly think it would be better if the Kings just let Thomas's contract expire and use that cap room to try and attract a bigger free agent. I also highly doubt that the Kings are still considering Greene as a part of the deal; he has played extremely well in the last few games, and is improving his defense and his offence.
Why would any team want Eddie Curry ? He has a ridicules contract, he's always hurt and he has no game. Unless of course they want to help the Knicks out so they could sign two max free agents next year.
Wilson Chandler is a better player than Donte Greene right now...Maybe Greenes better upside but Chandlers upside is pretty good also
You could get more for Thomas and Greene in my opinion. Greene is showin' glimpses of his potential and Kenny Thomas contract is a big seller where you could get something better then a beat up Curry. I like Chandler, but I wouldn't do it. Plus who would go to the Kings anyways if you're a FA of 2010.
The Kings are one good Center away from being a playoff team; they have a lot of young guys with a lot of talent and promise, why would you not look at them if you are a free agent? It is best to survey all of your options, especially when the Kings will have enough cap room to give them a very nice contract. Who would you rather have a free agent go to? It seems to me like the Kings will have better players, than most other teams with cap space, on their roster over the summer so why would they not want to go to a team who can give them a better supporting cast?
I thought so too. As a Knick fan, I would love the deal but I think in order to get rid of Curry's contract- you have to make him play.
I feel the Knicks have a better chance of moving Jefferies because he is not a scorer but at 6-10, 6-11- his ability to defend 2's and 3's might be valueable to a team down the line. I think.
Do you think Okafor is that guy? They want to add him...
I want the Kings to hold onto Thomas to free up cap room.
not trying to be rude but...who's going to Sacramento? This team might move if im correct. I dunno, I say get a player through trade
Kings aren't looking to add on salary. Would be a good deal for the Knicks though.
The Maloofs sold off the Monarchs to put all their efforts into rebuilding the Kings, every time they are asked about the Kings moving they say definitely not, they admit themselves that this is not a great time to be asking for a new arena. The whole moving rumor fiasco was brought up simply as a way to try and put more pressure on getting a new arena, people ran with it because they either did not like the Kings or because they saw the Kings losing games and fans and thought that moving was the next logical step; now that the Kings are back to winning games the Maloofs are showing more support than ever for staying and rebuilding the team, so I hope we can please put aside these rumors of moving. I still think that just because no one talks about Sac does not mean that it would not be a great place for a free agent to go. Think about the players they could be surrounded by, Kevin Martin, Tyreke Evans, Jason Thompson, Spencer Hawes, Beno Udrih, Nocioni, even Omri Casspi and Donte Greene are playing well lately; not only that but they have a great coach in Westphal, he was able to take a 17 win team and right now they are about .500. Westphal is underrated in my opinion; it is kind of baffling that a coach with more wins in the NBA than loses is just now getting back to coaching in the NBA.
I love these trades! Every trade scenario involves Kmart and the Kings somehow. I'm actually surprised how much convo they get for a seemingly insignifcant franchise. I'm a huge Kings fan but I watch a lot of bball and I don't think Martin ever gets the cred he deserves. There is talk of K9 for Okafor or Dalambert w/out including a talented piece like Greene, and I'll take either of them over Curry. I don't mind Chandler, but I think the Kings would rather keep Greene, as I think he can get more return in a trade. The one thing I can't understand is why every that proposes a trade involving the Kings has them getting completely taken advantage of as if they're the Grizzlies or Twolves. IF the Kings trade Martin or Greene it will be to upgrade a position, not take your team's trash. Can you explain why the Kings would agree to this? I've mentioned this before but if the Kings find a guy they like, that is willing to come to Sac as a FA and their current team doesn't want to lose them for nothing, maybe you trade Kmart, Greene, and a pick.
Kenny Thomas WILL NOT be traded before the end of the season unless it's for a better player that they see being an important piece for their future.
