Chris Bosh Feels Disrespected

http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/62910/20091120/bosh_is_tired_...

Raptors forward Chris Bosh doesn't understand why he doesn't get as much attention as some of the NBA's other stars.

"Every day I turn on the TV and they're talking about guys, especially my draft class, '03 draft class, and this and that," he said. "They keep bringing up all these and I never hear my name, unless I'm like second honorable mention or something like that. I got tired of that.

"I don't even think people know I've made all-star teams or know what I've done in this league."

Bosh is averaging 26.8 points and 12.3 rebounds this season.

He ranks seventh in scoring and second in rebounding.

"I always thought of myself as a good basketball player, but after a while I really wanted to turn the corner. I looked at all the other guys who are considered top guys and I was tired of not having my name mentioned," he added.

"I wanted to do the necessary work to make sure I put myself in a situation to be successful."

Thoughts?

I strongly agree with him,

I strongly agree with him, he has a right to feel disrespected.

Hes definitely one of the better Power Forwards in this league...and should be recognized as one

When they talk about '03 free agents, they talk 'Bron, Wade, Amare...hell, sometimes even Kobe..

However,I do think that his inability to lead his team to the playoffs consistently is holding him back.

I believe is one of those

I believe Bosh is one of those players that has the ability to standout as a 1st option, but he's a championship caliber 2nd option. Similar to Pau Gasol, any team that has Chris Bosh as a 2nd option is going to be a Finals winner or at least contender year in and year out.

he

he has the right to get emotional and feel unappreciated, but does he have to b!tch and moan about not hearing his name? Players like this always try to become the center of attenion and end up causing a downward spiral. I hope bosh knows that I THINK HE'S GOOD....

EVERYBODY knows how damn good Bosh is...

I'd like to see more stars trying not to control the league by which jersey numbers can or can't be used...also, I'd like to see more stars that make 10+ million not b!tch about anything.

this year is just so much more emotional than last year, whatever happend to just playing basketball.

he should feel that way..i

he should feel that way..i think wit the right mixture he could be a first option if he has like 2 other allstars and great role player son his team ..kinda like the pistons..none of them could win a title being a first option with one other 2nd option and role players...theres only a few players in the leauge that can though

well....

i think that that right there is a HUGE indication that chris bosh will, without a doubt, not be in a raptots uniform next season. if u want to get noticed, obviously playing in toronto (unless ur vince carter) is not gonna get u much recognition. if i were colangelo, as crazy as it sounds, i wud try to trade him asap and get as much value for him as possible before he walks out scott free on ur &$#%#&@! ass

I think it's a little early

I think it's a little early to trade him, colangelo would be crucified by the fans. If they get to 30-40 games in and it's not looking like they are going to make playoffs, then I think there's a pretty good chance they try to move him.

I think he is justified in

I think he is justified in his feelings. I know some people will say he should stop complaining and just do work but I think any of us would be getting frustrated at this point. When you are a professional athlete you're obviously going to be competitive, not just on the court or field but in general. Would it not irritate you if you weren't getting the respect you felt you deserved whether it at work or home or elsewhere? Do you voice that? Pro athletes have different worries than most of us do and I think they start to worry about their imprint on the league long-term and whether or not they will leave a legacy. Bosh is in a class of greats and he feels he should be mentioned with them and I agree. He isn't LBJ but he is close to a talent as Dwade, so he should be mentioned with them. A championship would change that.
I think Duncan is someone that would easily have been overlooked if he didn't have all those rings. He is a quiet superstar that will go down as one of the all-time greats, and deservedly so, but given his demeanor if he played on the Raptors we would talk about him less. People love to talk about talent but they talk about being wowed and I don't think Bosh is that type of player, just look at how much people are talking about Jennings, I bet by season end he'll have more forum topics on this site than Duncan ever has
Bosh reminds me of Vlad Guerrero when he played in Montreal for the Expos. Most baseball fans would agree he was a GREAT talent but nobody ever mentioned him. It is in part, a Canada thing...

I got a story for you, but I'm not going to say it. It's something about "He isn't LBJ but he is close to a talent as Dwade," but ya know I'm not gonna argue except that's ridiculous. On the other hand, I think Miami would like Bosh :)

lol

duncan over looked if he had not got all those rings? that was a good laugh.

close to a talent like wade? another good laugh.

i hope bosh gets his act together, stops caring to hear people talking about him, and go out there and lead the raptors back to the playoffs.

I'm not saying he's as good

I'm not saying he's as good as Wade, He's not as clutch obviously, his defense isn't there like Wade's is and Wade is a more versatile player. But you have to realize they are different positions. Wade is a SG in which is a plentiful position. If I were a GM and was going to sign a PF to a 5 year contract Bosh is my first choice. If it were for just one game maybe I take someone else at that position like KG or Dirk who are both studs but I think Bosh is highly underrated and part of that is because he is in Toronto. If all you can say is "ha that's funny" as your argument then it is hard to take you seriously. I don't think you watch basketball and just go off of names. And if you cannot fathom how Duncan wouldn't be overlooked as one of the greatest forwards of all time if he didn't have the rings then you have never had a meaningful sports discussion in your life. Almost every athelete is judged by their rings. Kobe just grew leaps and bounds in peoples minds because he won a ring without Shaq, even though he had Gasol, Odom, and Bynum. Why is everyone telling LBJ to shut up about the NFL? No rings. Dan Marino vs John Elway or Tom Brady or Peyton Manning or Montana? How much better would we consider Barkley with a ring or two? Chris Webber? Karl Malone? John Stockton? How much less would we think of Pippen? If you don't think championships raise your status you're an idiot.
You know what you know because of sportscenter and top 10. Good for you.

I think Wade is the better player but you're right in that there are a lot of good SG's...
Bosh will never be the superstar Wade is while in Toronto partly because they are a bad franchise, he is better than Amare but barely gets that recognition either...
I'm new to this site but I've read a few topics and Lemons is a huge, misguided Wade fan that thinks he's the frontrunner for MVP right now...

yeah

but I mean Wade is like so far ahead its kinda pitiful I mean come on most people who even like Wade could make an easy case why hes the best with LBJ & Kobe near him. a Top 3 player is not top 20.

"Why he's the best with Kobe

"Why he's the best with Kobe and LBJ near him"
I'm going to assume you didn't mean Wade is actually the best with Kobe and LBJ UNDER him. I was teasing a little about you being in love with Wade but if you mean Wade is the best...I cannot talk to you...He's good, very good, a HOF good... But better than Kobe or LBJ??
If you meant make a case for him being MVP, Heat would be the 6th seed in the East right now...

Bosh

Right now he is the league's top power forward possibly after Garnett. He is entering his prime though. He does deserve to be treated as more than a secondary star.

Most Underated of all-time

Most Underated of all-time comes to my mind...........Just because he plays north of the border, and his team isn't a Top team. But still leads day in day out, never gets love. They threw him out the MVP race this week and i was shocked. Even though his young resume is extremely impressive he really doesn't get the love. debatably he is the best PF in the league . Not by resume but this stats this year and last year

yes he is so underrated...he

yes he is so underrated...he proves that this year he is best big in the game! Who else he need, everyone knows he can score and now he did it even better even next to scoring big like Bargnani, and he becomes to be top rebounder and good enough defender...27 12 is just crazy, last time something like this was KG with 24 14 in 2004season..and i think Raptors getting better now.

Win 1st...Then Respect will Come.....

Everyone who has seen him play..Knows he's 1 of the top 8 players in the league...All Bosh has to do is Win...Respect Will Come....Fans have shown him love by voting him a starter for the AllStar Game the past few years...But He hasn't won anything yet....At least get his team to the Conference Finals on a consistent basis...Only a few years ago folks were asking who was better Kobe or McGrady..Kobe ended that debate by becoming a champion...McGrady has been 1 of the elite players in the league over the past decade...But he gets no respect becuz he hasn't won anything..Jordan is the undisputed greatest player of all-time...But he really wasn't mentioned as the best ever until he won his 1st title.......
