WVU Desean Butler The Next Paul Pierce?

Both standing at 6'7 235lbs which I believe Paul Pierce may be slightly heavier. Desean Butler has had a steller career at WVU in which his numbers has improved consistantly each year. By most every NBA Mock Draft site and NBA scouts, Desean is a bonified first rounder and there are some NBA Scouts that has even said Desean has a great possibility to go in this 2010 june NBA Draft Lottery. Desean has made a great Impression on NBA scouts this summer in the World University Games where he led his team full of NBA possible first rounders to great showing in Serbia. When asked about what NBA player comparisons most scouts would compare Desean Butler too, the names that was mention were Caron Butler, Larry Hughes and Raja Bell name even came up for his ability to lock up the opposing teams best player on Defense. Although one League Scout said that we were'nt giving Butler the upper echelon comparison he deserves when asked his thoughts. Interested in what NBA player that this well known NBA scout compared Butler too we asked, he said Paul Pierce because of his size and ability to play and guard multiple positions on the court. Desean can also create his own shot and is able to score anyplace on the floor with ease such as Paul Pierce. He also went on to say that he would be a steal if he slips out of the the 2010 Lottery such as Dujaun Blair and Chase Budinger did last NBA draft. After watching Butler at trials in Colorado and in Serbia, and off to great start this year with him coming shy of a triple double 10pts 9rbs 9st in his first game then following that up with 26pts 7rbs in the game after that. I am now Cinvinced that Desean Butler very well might be the next Paul Pierce.

I am a WVU fan so I love

I am a WVU fan so I love hearing this about Da. He was a stellar freshman under Coach Beline and has transitioned very well to Coach Huggins. This proves to me that he can make the transition to the NBA since Huggins so known for sending his players to the NBA ready to play immediately. For you smart guys that want to bring up Alexander, please understand that he isnt productive yet because of a few things. First, he was only with Huggs one year, second his coach demands defense and that has never been Alexander's forty, and last, he is hurt. Back to Butler. He is a very versatile player and I can see the Pierce comparison. However, I also know that Pierce would never have been the player he was if it wasnt for the situation he landed in. With the Cs, he was pretty much turned loose with Walker and they were pretty darn good. Do I think Butler will be a productive NBA player?? Yea, I can see it. Lottery?? No. The only thing about Butler is his athleticism. He really isnt the great athlete people have come to know in the NBA. Like Pierce, I think Butler can make up for that in his savvy and smooth play. He probably wont be quite the player Pierce is simply because of a missed opportunity but I could se him fall in line with Caron or maybe a guy like Mo Peterson.

I remember him from when he

I remember him from when he had that 40 point game last year I believe....he's a 1st rounder though, probably late lotto kind of player. He's a good looking player to me with good size and some potential.

Butler

I agree with lemons ebanks is the better NBA prospect because of his freakish athleticism but Desean Butler is one of those guys that can to everything just like Ebanks. Ebanks is def the better prospect in the Nba cuz he can jump through the building. as for the paul pierce comparison. I just dont see Butler with the offensive game and the ability to create seperation quite like pierce can. Plus Pierce is much deadlier from outside and has quietly become a very solid defender.

Ebanks is defiantly the

Ebanks is defiantly the better prospect however, he isnt a freakish athlete. Trust me, played quite a few games with the team this summer. He is a good athlete but not a great one. He is very very very long. He has like a 7'2 wingspand and he measured 6'7 at Lebron's camp.

Yea Ebanks has the ability

Yea Ebanks has the ability to be a shut-down defender in the NBA, and Butler will be a good defender too more than likely. Butler reminds me of Jamal Mashburn more so than Paul Pierce.
