John Wall hits the game winner!
Bledsoe played terrible. He had a bad ankle though which was at least part of the reason for his poor play.
Even though Wall hit the game winner & scored quite a bit he still wasn't that great. I thought overall he had a mediocre game.
Dodson kept Kentucky in the game in the 1st half by hitting 3 three pointers.
Cousins came alive late in the 2nd half. He had a good game. Patterson was solid as usual.
Orton showed a few offensive moves tonight which was nice to see. He gave Kentucky a lift towards the beginning of the 2nd half.
Kentucky won this game because of their big men (Cousins, Patterson, & Orton)
Kentucky has a lot of work to do. In the half court offense they don't look very comfortable & struggle to score for the most part. Wall & Bledsoe have to learn that they can't take it to the rim every fast break when its 1 on 4. They both were out of control way too often.
Yea and cousins is use to having the ball in his hand yall see when him patterson both try to bring the ball up court and made two stupid turnovers when they couldve passed it to bledsoe or wall.
That shot he hit was great....those are the flashes that you just can't ignore when discussing his potential. But I agree 1000% with your assessment though.
Kentucky needs to realize that their greatest asset is their post players in the half court. They have the most physically imposing frontline in college with Cousins, Orton, and Patterson.
iguodala- yep...I agree with what you said in another post too...Kentucky will definitely get better.
I would like to see Wall shoot more jumpshots. i haven't seen him play enough to say rather he can shoot or not.?..time will tell. His form looks pretty good. He needs to pull up more on fast breaks and shoot that midrange jumper. I would say the same thing about Bledsoe too.
He is a better shooter than people give him credit for to me. He's a good shooter off the dribble from mid-range, but he has a very slow release on spot-ups from what I've seen. He got his shot blocked once by Miami's PG when I watched because his release was too slow. He'll probably be a decent shooter in time though.
He' a better shooter than 1/2 the super-athlethic(very few) PG's that have been coming into the NBA, such as Russell Westbrook Rondo and Rose, his J is better then theirs even right now. And his form is better than all them too.
Kentucky gambled too much on defense. They go for steals too often instead of just playing solid defense and staying in front of their man.
This Kentucky team is reminding me of Calipari's Memphis teams from the past couple years. Really long & athletic but can play out of control & shoot a lot of bricks from deep. Plus the poor free throw shooting.
I haven't been as impressed with Wall as I was with Derrick Rose early last season. It is still early though and things can change.
Yea Rose was on another level at the same stage....Wall isn't the leader and he doesn't play as steady and controlled as Rose. Wall actually is alot like a young Dwyane Wade, because Wade was always super athletic, but he's just getting 3 point range. I think Wall's development will be alot like that...
how can you say walls j is better then those nba guys?.i cant even say he has a better jumper yet since he hasnt had to be guarded by a good guard yet..plus shooting jumpers in college is alot easier then shooting jumpers in the nba as curry,jj, and durant has proved...iggy ti was just thinking the same thing about wall/rose/dwade..not saying hes as good as dwade but i see what youre saying
Wall doesn't seem to be as good as a ball handler as Rose either from what I have see so far. Would you all agree with that?
Rose definitely was better at finishing on fast breaks especially after contact.
agreed..i expected both though cuz rose had a stronger body and could play full or half court as far as being a ball handler
I disagree. This wasn't Wall's best game, but I've seen him do some amazing things with the basketball. He is on Rose's level when it comes to handles, probably even better.
Yea, Rose's hesitation moves the best in basketball IMO....Wall has a fairly loose handle, but he's so quick that it's not a big deal. Lebron James and Dwyane Wade also are like that.
yeah but amazing things against hs competition is different then college...anything someone did in hs is now thrown out the window because now the level of comp just got higher..and once they start playing against good teams and get into sec play then it gets even higher
You think like a realist. Not a scout.
Right now they are a young team with Bledsoe, Cousins and Wall. Give them a couple games and experience so they can adjust their games to the college game. They are all great players and if they get good team chemistry you can bet they will challenge some of the best teams in college basketball.
yeah ..some people think thats just hating though..my thing is i just cant jump on a bandwagon untill a player proves it you know...ill say yeah this guy has potential but untill they prove it then i cant give them much praise..especially hs players since they are usually bigger faster and stronger then who they are playing against and the level of comp is wayyyy lower and the other kids dont have the basketball iq to make up for there lack of skill or athletic ability....i made the mistake that so many on here do of thinking felipe lopez and schea cotton was gonna dominate college before they played a game of college ball so now i dont make that mistake anymore until a player proves it
wow they are all great players?
Yea I understand where your coming from, a lot of people were thinking Wall was going to make an immediate impact which sometimes isn't so realistic, he missed the first two games so I will give him that but he needs to stay under control in games and not force shots and passes. But with Wall's ability as well as Bledsoe and Cousins I can't help but give them more time to adjust to the college level. I also need players to prove themselves but also like to give them more then just a couple games before they can develop good team chemistry and also for the individual players to improve.
yeah they have the potenial to..but potential is a scary word...and even though wall missed 2 games he wasnt hurt and probably played against better competition in practice going against his teammates then today
